After reading everyone else's comments and thinking about the songs without the vocal choices I hate so much, I think I disagree with my album assessment above. On second thought Vapor DOES have the better songs- musically.

It just has more of what annoys me so much about both albums. But strip that away and my love for Earthshine and I actually do think Vapor was better. Especially when I remember that 2 of the top 3 songs on Snakes for me are instrumentals.

Still, I like Snakes better because Being annoyed sucks. I'd rather be bored. (So Snake win?)

The yodeling technique (slipping into falsetto) is really annoying on both albums, as is the outright screeching on tracks like Spindrift. Like you say, really good music is wrecked by Ged's choices.

While Snakes as much better production, lyrically and thematically VT slays SnA. For different reasons, neither is much fun in a start to finish listen, but VT is the better artistic statement overall, I think.

ah yes Yodel Ged was introduced on VT. oddly that started as a gimmick but quickly morphed into his voice, lol

Cause he sang fine on the VT tour but cut to time machine and the gimmick became the voice, lol

I don't favour anything on Snakes over anything on VT.
