Song By Song Battle: Grace Under Pressure vs. Power Windows

I felt inspired by the Permanent Waves vs. Moving Pictures thread so...

Rules are simple. It is a song by song battle based on the track order on each album. You pick your favourite of the two on offer.

Distant Early Warning < The Big Money

Afterimage < Grand Designs

Red Sector A < Manhattan Project

The Enemy Within > Marathon

The Body Electric ≥ Territories

Kid Gloves > Middletown Dreams

Red Lenses > Emotion Detector

Between The Wheels < Mystic Rhythms

WOAH!!! 4 - 4! The difficult battle for me is track #5 which has my favourite song from each of these albums against each other. I went with The Body Electric by a smidgen, but it could easily be Territories. For that reason I feel like Power Windows wins despite it being a tie.

The Enemy Within > Marathon

The Body Electric > Territories

Between The Wheels < Mystic Rhythms

The first five on GUP take the match-up, but PoW is the stronger finisher.

DEW

Grand Designs

RSA

Marathon

Territories

Middletown Dreams

Emotion Detector

BTW

PoW is a much stronger album overall, although those three tracks on p/g might be the highest highs between the two albums.

1) DEW is way better than Big Money

2) Afterimage beats Designs

3) Red Sector A is slightly better than Manhattan Project

4) Marathon easily beats Enemy Within

5) Body Electric or Territories - tie (neither song is that good)

6) Middletown Dreams beats Kid Gloves

7) Red Lenses or Emotion Detector - neither

8) Between the Wheels crushes Mystic Rhytms

Nice idea for a topic.

Here's mine for the current time:

Distant Early Warning = The Big Money

Afterimage = Grand Designs

Red Sector A < Manhattan Project

The Enemy Within > Marathon

The Body Electric < Territories

Kid Gloves > Middletown Dreams

Red Lenses < Emotion Detector

Between The Wheels < Mystic Rhythms

The current results surprise me, since I like Kid Gloves and The Enemy Within so much and The Body Electric was a fave for a while, but taking each other on in this format leads to a Power win.

Distant Early Warning | The Big Money

Afterimage | Grand Designs

Red Sector A | Manhattan Project

The Enemy Within | Marathon

The Body Electric | Territories

Kid Gloves | Middletown Dreams

Red Lenses | Emotion Detector

Between the Wheels | Mystic Rhythms

Choosing between the final tracks of both albums was the hard one for me. MR has a great catchy vibe to it and BTW always attracts me to Neil's thunderous drumming.

8 to 1 in favor of GUP. Though I absolutely love The Big Money and Territories, I love Distant Early Warning and The Body Electric even more. Grace Under Pressure is just an all around excellent album.

Big Money,Afterimage,Red Sector A,Marathon,Territories,Middletown Dreams,Emotion Detector,Between the Wheels.Just burnt a cd of these tracks.I will listen to it in the car today to see how it goes.Themain problem will be that GUP is very dark sounding album whereas PoW is very bright,as we all know.

Sorry...had it been another song, GUP may have had a landslide...but I happen to have a thing for Mystic Rhythms (I love the lyrical 'visual' imagery) and think Between the Wheels is *gasp* just ok.

Oh, and now that I look at it my math is wrong...it's actually 7 to 1 so thanks but no thanks for quoting that for all posterity. :poke:
