Rushman2112
Sometimes I think that people are too critical in regards to Neil's lyric writing. In this thread, let's focus on our favorite Rush lyrics. Here's mine: Each of usA cell of awarenessImperfect and incompleteGenetic blendsWith uncertain endsOn a fortune huntThat's far too fleet

Mosher
All of Natural Science as was said, but the most resonant for me because it defined my philosophy so well: 'Better the pride that resides,in a citizen of the world, than the pride that divides, when a colorful rag is unfurled.'

goose
For me, Neil is best when evoking imagery or emotion through figurative language... Sprawling on the fringes of the cityIn geometric orderAn insulated borderIn between the bright lights And the far unlit unknown The city crouches, steamingIn the early morning half-lightThe sun is still a rumorAnd the night is still a threat Time and motionFlesh and blood and fireLives connect in webs of gold and razor wire Mystic rhythms, under city lights Or a canopy of stars We feel the powers And we wonder what they are We feel the push and pull Of restless rhythms from afar

Sprawling on the fringes of the cityIn geometric orderAn insulated borderIn between the bright lights And the far unlit unknown The first lyrics by Peart I memorized- I could easily have went with Subdivisions. As an whole lyrical work, I think I would.
tangy
All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary Of a miracle too good to be true All I know is that sometimes the truth is contrary Everything in life you thought you knew All I know is that sometimes you have to be wary 'Cause sometimes the target is you
Fridge
Just between usI think it's time for us to recognizeThe differences we sometimes feared to showJust between usI think it's time for us to realizeThe spaces in betweenLeave roomFor you and I to grow Closed for my protection-Open to your scornBetween these two directionsMy heart is sometimes torn I'm not one to believe in magicBut I sometimes have a second-sightI'm not one with a sense of proportionWhen my heart still changes overnight Anger got bare knucklesAnger play the foolAnger wear a crown of thornsReverse the golden ruleThen you learn the lessonThat it's tough to be so cool Edited April 23, 2018 by Fridge

Mosher
He's a rider and a ranger and a young boy bearing arms (or is it "writer and arranger"? BEST SOUND PUN EVER) When I was young, 12 at the time of this release, I was heavily into D&D. And I was always a ranger. (A half-Elven ranger to be precise.) So that line was 'ranger' at the time. I didn't know what an arranger would be, but in fairness I did assume it meant real world rangers as in Texas rather than D&D.
