pjbear05
The Windows Media Player package in my new laptop is good for listening to CD's, but little else. I'm looking for alternative software to: Rip CD's to the hard drive (CD & MP3 format)Burn/save from the hard drive to CD & MP3 playerDirect CD & DVD copy. Legitimate software only (i.e. no online download shite.) Thanks in advance.

I've had success with Nero on my older equipment, and I've a!ways been wary of "free" downloads. Checked out the Burning ROM, and going with that. As a bonus I found an orphan memory chip that I can load my CD's onto and plug into my MP3 player. Yeah, that's the ticket!

Yeah, that's the ticket!Ashampoo has been doing this type of software for a long time and they release quality products. I have always actually prefered Ashampoo's user interface to Nero's. I have yet to try the free version but the reviews on it are quite good. Free does not always mean bad. There are tons of free software products on the web that that work just as well or even better than paid versions from other companies. You just have to do a little research first. If you just randomly download free software then you are bound to find a lot of crap. If you just prefer paying for things then I have a lot of crap that I can sell you.
