I started with the iconics, which, if we do this again, might just as well be left out. These included...

Who's Next

Zep IV

Revolver

Dark Side...

Never Mind the Bullocks

Let It Bleed

Doors (debut)

VH (debut)

Are You Experienced?

A Night At The Opera

Highway 61...

Ziggy Stardust

Nevermind

Back In Black

Destroyer

and

Born to Run (which I hate, but hey, it's "greatest" not "best"...)

Group 1 & 3 had five and four of these, respectively. Group 2 had seven. That's 16 of the allotted 21, leaving room for five personal favs.

From there I picked albums I have loved from the moment I heard them. Boston, Midnight Oil (that album spent 171 weeks on the Aussie charts), Talking Heads lost out by virtue of being in group 2 which has seven stone cold classics. Personal faves from Prince, the Cars, and Tull made it through Group 3. From group 1 I added 2112, Trower's Bridge of Sighs, and Making Movies from Dire Straits. Wait...that's one too many. Goodbye 2112.

That was the easiest group for me. There were three Rush albums in it. Not hard to choose there. None of the groups I found to be difficult at all. You divided things up pretty well.

I used a random list generator. The third list had two of my favorite Rush albums, both Bowie albums, and two of the three Queen albums, plus Quadrophenia, Close To The Edge, and a couple other big names for me. I ended up dropping MP and Blackstar the standard was so high.

I listened to the Kendrick Lamar album listed here, "To Pimp a Butterfly", based on the glowing reviews it got here and I have to say, meh. A whole lot of the typical braggadocio, bitches and hoes, and other words I won't repeat here. Beef with this guy and feuds with that 1.

...that's definitely not the same album I listened to. The Blacker The Berry is a disturbing and hard hitting attack on racism while also being a self-flagelating admittance of hypocrisy on the author's part. How Much A Dollar Cost is a dramatic attack on prejudice framed through a meeting with God in a street beggar. Alright is a black empowerment social anthem. The last track uses a recording of Tupac Shakur speaking and manipulates it so that Kendrick has a conversation with 2pac, his hero. The whole theme is Kendrick trying to use his success in the rap world in order to make his home, Compton, a better and safer community. It has the least bit to do with old beefs and sexual encounters compared to the social critiques and observations it's trying to accurately convey in a musical manner. If all you got was typical rap braggadocio, I'm not sure you were listening very closely.

Considering that I posted in the top 120 thread earlier today, this was pretty easy.

I don't know everything about music, but I know what I like and what I don't.

Who's Next has 4 votes and 2112 10?

srsly

You are aware of the message board you're on, right?

Yes, I get it. It's happening on the message board that is biased towards Rush. Pretty much on any other music fan forum 2112 wouldn't be viewed by most people as an album that is in the same league with Who's Next. But here it's a different thing, of course.

It's just opinions, chillax. Smoke a J. Have some wine. Eat a Xanax. Whatever.

I can't. It's ruined my whole week, and I'm wondering how I'll ever recover from the tailspin this has set me on. If I can't have faith in a RUSH fan forum, what is my hope for humanity?
