TRF's top 120 albums of all time ever in the history of music. Qualifying round.

Recommended Posts

So, this will work very much like the normal "top #" threads at first. Post albums that you think would be in your top 120 favorite albums of all time (or the top 120 best albums of all time). No double posting. Once we get to 120, that will be the cutoff and every album up to that point will be randomly ordered into a three part poll in a new thread and people will vote for their favorite albums in each part of the poll. Those with the most votes will advance. Judging off of Lucas' guitarist and vocalist polls, there should be three more threads after this one. So let's get to that magic 120!

1. A Night At The Opera - Queen

...well what else did you expect from me, lol. :P

This will always end up predictable with the same forum favourites coming up top, the same group adulation for albums that are spoken about as if the world at large would 100% agree. Possible talk about how amazing such and such vocalist is, spin off thread about him, then an album like Quadrophenia will probably become a group obsession again. Lesser known albums and forum non-favourites will make the list and be totally ignored. Earl will jump in and scream his love for eighties metal, make jibes and bands he doesn't like. We will get to 120 and...

...can't be bothered. We've done these polls so many times before it's lost all appeal.

At least Entre wants to create an elimination poll to find out a winner. Which is better than the pick random song/album pointless rankings threads that really have no end game to it. But you're right, most of what you said is probably to happen here lol.

I don't get what you're trying to accomplish with this post. If you want to tell me we should be spending our time on more productive or interesting modes of conversation, I suggest you enlighten me what that might be, because as far as I can tell most threads that aren't our tried and true polls, rankings, and other such contests don't make it past a few pages and don't get many people involved. If you're just trying to tell me you aren't interested because your taste in music is so different from many other people's here and you don't think any of your picks would make it past the first round, then I'm sorry, but maybe you'd be better off finding a better thread to post in. Don't deny the rest of us our fun just because you're tired of these threads.

C'mon Segue don't be a party pooper ... I love your post though because, while I never tire of these polls, your observation is spot-on, and in Earl's case, hysterically accurate ..

The unfortunate part is that you are one who these polls need, as you make them infinitely more interesting
