ReRushed Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I just read he was taken off of life support because he has no brain activity. https://www.spin.com/2017/10/tom-petty-hospitalized-cardiac-arrest/
Principled Man Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 We were typing at the same instant..... :) 1
EagleMoon Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Wow, I didn’t realize that anything had happened to him. Doesn’t sound very good.
ReRushed Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I have a bad feeling. A terrible day for so many obvious reasons. It's hard to find solace. 5
Lorraine Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 I have a bad feeling. A terrible day for so many obvious reasons. It's hard to find solace. I know. I could cry my eyeballs out right now. It was Tom Petty that got me through the awful month of January - him and Mike Campbell's guitar. I owe them a lot. 5
Lorraine Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 I just read he was taken off of life support because he has no brain activity. https://www.spin.com...cardiac-arrest/ I see. He was found not breathing so they had no way of knowing how long he had been without oxygen. Now I understand what happened. Better off that he dies. This is awful.
RUSHHEAD666 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I can't believe this! He is gone! Listening to "Damn The Torpedoes" right now!! I had a ticket to see him a few weeks ago at The Greek but he cancelled. Rescheduled for the following Monday. I couldn't make it! DAMN IT! RIP! 2

blueschica Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I just read he was taken off of life support because he has no brain activity. https://www.spin.com...cardiac-arrest/ Thank you for posting this, I kept reading both things and didn't know what to think. This is so sad, what a loss. 1
ReRushed Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Definitely. CBS News confirms. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/tom-petty-legendary-rocker-is-dead-at-66/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&linkId=43025392
RUSHHEAD666 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I feel awful. Thank God I went to the Rush Hall Of Fame Induction! I was lucky enough to see Tom perform with Jackson and Randy Newman. Sadly it was the only time I ever saw Tom perform live. UGH! I regret not going on that Monday night! 2
stoopid Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I'm not really a fan, but a horrible way to go for a class act. 1
Principled Man Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I'm not really a fan, but a horrible way to go for a class act. He died at home. My eldest cousin just lost her husband to a heart attack at home. There are much worse ways to go. 3
Lorraine Posted October 2, 2017 Author Posted October 2, 2017 I'm not really a fan, but a horrible way to go for a class act.He seemed to be one, although only friends and family would know for sure. But he seemed so laid back that the way he went is a shock. Only 66 too.
bluefox4000 Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 Well that Sucks......truly awful. RIP Tom. Mick
invisible airwave Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) Him and Eddie Vedder are my two biggest rock star heroes for staying true to their artistic integrity and not giving a f**k. Fitting they toured together when Highway Companion and avacado album came out the same time. Cried real hard an hour ago. First Vegas and now this. f**k you grim reaper. RIP. Say hi to Howie, George, Roy, Cash and Garry Shandling for us. Edited October 2, 2017 by invisible airwave 2
Narps Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I never was a fan back in the day but his music is definitely part of the soundtrack of my life. No way around it. As I have aged there is no way when I hear a Petty tune that I am not at least a little happier than I was before it came on. You can't ask for much more than that from music...RIP and thanks 8
