J2112YYZ Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 OITNB? I probably should know but... Don't worry, I'm a fan of the show and even I didn't recognize the abbreviation right away lol.
barney_rebel Posted September 28, 2019 Author Posted September 28, 2019 Just watched the finale. This season ended very strong after a frustrating beginning. Even though June consistently avoids punishments others receive, and as convenient as that is, the importance of this show Can't be ignored. This is an important show. So is OITNB, and it ended much better that the previous two years. June is a major shit-disturber eh?
Chicken hawk Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 (edited) I just found this out. Hulu hasn't confirmed a Season 4 release date yet, but it's probably safe to assume based on past seasons that it will debut in the spring or summer of 2020. Spoilers !!! https://www.harpersbazaar.com/culture/film-tv/a28512962/the-handmaids-tale-season-4-news-date-cast-spoilers/ Edited September 28, 2019 by Chicken hawk
Krystal Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I finally watched the first season and the first episode of the second season. I really didn't enjoy it tbh. I found it depressing and unwatchable. I have heard some people comparing the series to torture porn. Right now I'm watching reruns of BH 90210 and How I Met Your Mother to lift me out of this terrible mood that Offred put me in. I think I'm just tired of dystopic films and TV shows. I have enough drama in my life.

It's intelligent, thought provoking and very educational. It works exactly as so called dystopian fiction should, and Margaret Atwood didn't put anything horrific in her story that hadn't taken place somewhere in the world in the twentieth century. Handmaid's Tale is a modern day fable, a tale based solely on reality in a stark, horrific black mirror reflection of our own reality. Don't like it? Sure, but don't dismiss it as "torture porn". Unfortunately for millions of women in our world, and men too, Gilead is their life, in one way or another. The while purpose of the story and the show is to wake people up. 1
J2112YYZ Posted September 23, 2022 Posted September 23, 2022 The new season has started. I've noticed with this show that I have to mentally prepare myself for a day or two before watching because I need time to get ready for the dark path this show always takes you down. I don't recall ever doing that for any other TV show. That being said, I'm off to watch the new episode now. 1
