Power Windows is I think the only Rush album which has multiple of my all time favorite songs and least favorite at the same time.

 

Favorite- Marathon, Manhattan Project, Middleton Dreams

 

Weakest- The Big Money, Grand Designs, Mystic Rhythms

Bottom: Emotion Detector...I just had to youtube it to remind me how it went, so I guess I just find it forgettable, rather than bad

They're all practically perfect. Not my favorite Rush album, but one that I find incredibly difficult to fault. Even the Wal bass sounds awesome.

 

If I must pick though, Marathon, Territories, and The Big Money are probably my top three, and Emotion Detector, Mystic Rhythyms, and Grand Designs are a smidge less likable.

2 clunkers: The Big Money and Emotion Detector

 

I'd replace Emotion Detector with Mystic Rhythms, but otherwise, this is right on. ^

30 years on, Middletown Dream, Emotion Detector and Mystic Rhythms have become my favorite tracks off of Power Windows. Territories has dropped to the bottom.

Easily my least favorite synth era album.

Manhattan Project

Grand Designs

Middletown Dreams

 

The worst:

The Big Money

Territories

 

Interesting fact: in the music video for The Big Money, the band is playing on a stage shaped like a giant monopoly board. That monopoly board was built by a young stagehand named Les Stroud- known today as Survivorman. I heard him mention it on a podcast (probably Joe Rogan's) a few years back, and always thought that was cool.

(I still freaking love these songs, but these are the ones I don't enjoy as much as the others.)

 

This is my favorite album, there are no weak songs.

Obviously I'm in the minority...according to the poll. But those lyrics (the ones I quoted) seriously make me cringe.

 

Well, you know what they say...one person's cringing is another person's swooning. Or something like that. ;)
