Countdown sounds like a demo.

 

Digital Man sounds like am embarrassment.

:LOL: OK. I laughed out loud reading this post.

 

Gotta love the back and forth haha

 

But I truly hate that song I don't even know why...it reminds me the most of Vital Signs and I love Vital Signs

Subdivisions The Weapon Countdown   Chemistry (great song still, but I guess my least favorite on the album)     Signals is my second favorite Rush album so I love them all

It's very similar to my every day dialogue.

The only weak song in my opinion is Chemistry. If it wasn't for this song, Signals would be just as good as Moving Pictures.

I think the production was a big drop off from the sonic clarity of Moving Pictures.

I always liked Chemistry it has an odd feel a bit like Tom Sawyer, and the riff is kind of similar.

For the top 3 it is:

 

1. Subdivisions (no brainer)

2. New World Man

3. Analog Kid (a very hard pick over Losing It & Countdown - all 3 are wonderful)

 

For the weakest I went with Digital Man but could easily have gone with Chemistry.

 

One last point, somebody voted for Subdivisions as the weakest song. Wow!! I am very curious - why?? Not looking to start a fight, but could that person please explain themselves. What turns you off to the song??

It does and it is appalling.

 

For a band like Rush to release Countdown after being guests of NASA is unforgivable. Where is the imagination and atmosphere of Red Barchetta, Cygnus X-1, Xanadu, The Necromancer and The Camera Eye?

I only voted New World Man for weakest song. It's a quality tune, but to me it just never had the depth that the rest of the songs did.

I hated this album in 1982. I bought it on cassette when it came out.

I had my mom drive me to Rainbow Records to get it.

When I heard it for the first time I cried and I wanted to smash the cassette into a million pieces of plastic shite.

 

But like a fine bottle of Red Sector A analog Kid Wine it turned into a perfect album for me over the decades.

 

We were just discussing The Weapon.

That thread turned me into a drumming addict for "Signals."

 

I played to the entire record twice in two days.

 

Weak songs?

Greatest songs?

 

Cum on man.

 

All songs on this album are ON POINT!

Not a duff track on it,just as good as Moving Pictures and the following Grace Under Pressure,for me Rush's golden era.If i had to pick the weakest it would be New World Man but still a great track
