  2. 2. What do you think of his acting ability?

    • He's one of the best around today.
    • He's nowhere near the best but he's enjoyable a lot of the time.
    • He's okay or passable.
    • He may be decent occasionally but he's generally forgettable.
    • I might've liked him a couple of times but he's annoying for the most part.
    • He's absolute dog shit. In fact, I'm pretty sure my poodle's morning dump can act better than him!

Minority Report was a good movie, and a good one for him. Right up his alley.

I thought it was okay. But i AM surprised that it wasn't more popular. It's certainly better than War of the Worlds and Edge of Tomorrow IMHO.

I liked Minority Report.

Hated War of the Worlds

Loved Edge of Tomorrow

Sometimes it's hard to separate the actor's ability from the movie or the quality of the screenplay.

That's true.

Eyes Wide Shut doesn't get much love but I liked it quite a bit. And I thought Cruise fit into the role pretty well. I don't think Edward Norton, for example, would've been a good casting. And that's despite me thinking Norton is much better overall.

Yeah yeah yeah I'm sure most of you think he's a dick. I'd agree.

But just trying to think of him as an actor, what do you think?

What do you think of his movies?

Can you separate how he appears OUTSIDE OF movies from how he is IN movies?

I've only listed movies in which he was the star or had a sizable role. Have I forgotten any?

I think he's a very entertaining actor. I don't have a problem with his personal life interfering. A lot of that is because I mostly believe that all actors are nuts.

Superstars Tom Hanks (an actor who I think is good) and Keanu Reeves (an actor who I think is crap) both seem to be nice, down to earth guys. Not nuts.

I can't believe there's a Mummy movie coming out with Tom Cruise replacing Brendan Fraser. I will be skipping it. That's like Indiana Jones without Harrison Ford. Brendan made that series what it is. I have never really liked Tom Cruise. He's annoying and arrogant. He's a very short man. That Scientology business turned him into a cuckoo.

First, he's not "replacing" Fraser since this is an entirely different thang. It'd be like saying Jessica Lange replaced Faye Ray in King Kong. Second, it's not like Cruise is playing the same character that Fraser did. So can it even be called "replacing"?

In regards to the annoying and arrogant and cuckoo stuff, I doubt many here will debate that.

Oh, and the "very short man" comment is relevant how?

Does this guy suck too? (He's a little shorter than Cruise and pretty much everyone else.) :P

Of course he doesn't suck! Tyrion Lannister is 4'5 (135cm) of awesome!

I like the crazy bastard. Eyes Wide Shut is my favorite. He was hilarious in Tropic Thunder which was completely unexpected. Magnolia, Vanilla Sky, Minority Report, the last two Missions...dude's been in some stuff I really like.

I'm usually against reboots and all that, but I'm actually looking forward to The Mummy and all of the Universal Monsters reboots. It can't be worse than the Brendan Fraser films.
