Stormtron
70s overall, but for an album run it would be Rush-Power Windows.
Blue J
I will not choose. You cannot make me! Â Â Â Well, okay- everything except Test For Echo. That one's rubbish.
rocket ignites
If I was going with 6 albums or so...2112 through Signals would be my sweet spot.
Disk98
1976-1985, minus CX1 Book 2.
Duke1
1978 Hemispheres to 1985 Power Windows. I'd have to have Clockwork Angels 2012 in as Bonus disc as for me that is right up there.
goose
Every album is a different era when you compare them one after another Other than a couple of obvious pairings, I agree. The four synth era albums are very distinct sonically, for example.
cygnify
Yeah, I'd go 76-84. Maybe not an "era" if you want to go with decades or even the 4 studio/1 live eras. But I would trade the first 3 albums to gain Signals & P/G
GabesCavesOfIce
Of course the 1970s. This era they rocked hard, they studied their instruments and dedicated themselves to be the best guitarist, bassist and drummer on the planet on a 24/7 basis. Wrote music to the outer reaches of what existed at that point in time. Strived to extend what was acceptable to record and release as a rock band. No other era can they make these claims. And of course since Permanent Waves was written, recorded and produced in the 70s...

fraroc
I'd listen to nothing but the Holy Tetrology of Rush Of course that is Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace Under Pressure, and Power Windows.
Mystic Slipperman
If I can include Exit Stage Left, I'd say 80s... :)

The K Man
1976-1985 (even though that feels like cheating).
rftag
It would definitely be the period from their debut through Signals.
Enemy Within
Once upon a time Rush eras were bookended every four studio recordings by a live album, so I'd choose the era following ATWAS and closed by ESL. A Farewell To Kings through to Moving Pictures. RUSHHEAD666
I'm thinking this simple question would be related to an actual decade of Rush music. Are you fuckking kidding me? 1974 to 1985. Ok! I cheated! Who gives a fuckk! "Power Windows" rules!
