toddlimelight Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 Any thoughts on which Neil Peart book is the best? I liked Travelling Music. Although they're all well written, and offers a glimpse into the life of the Master, I thought they were all kinda boring...almost like a diary. Unnecessary details about what he had for dinner.
Ancient Ways Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 The masked rider was the best for me. 1
EagleMoon Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 It kind of depends. Ghost Rider, Travellng Music, Masked Rider and Roadshow are my favorites. 1
edhunter Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I read Ghost Rider and nearly jumped off a bridge. I can't risk another book. 3
Union 5-3992 Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I liked Ghost Rider and Traveling Music quite a bit. Haven't read the others because they didn't seem as interesting
Narps Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I read Ghost Rider and nearly jumped off a bridge. I can't risk another book. No ice picks were handy I take it...
Permanent-Rush Posted February 11, 2017 Posted February 11, 2017 I have not read them yet... :( I plan to thou
The Cat 3 Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I think "Roadshow" is the most entertaining, but I have to go with "Ghost Rider" for personal reasons. 2
GeddysMullet Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I liked Roadshow best because it almost acknowledged that Neil is actually in Rush. 6
catherine Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I only read Ghost Rider. It was okay but I guess it's just not my kind of book. I have been tempted to read the most recent one but not sure if it will make me sad or pissed off so haven't taken a chance on it yet. :D 2
EagleMoon Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I liked Roadshow best because it almost acknowledged that Neil is actually in Rush. But true. 1
goose Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Ghost RiderThat's the only one I've read, and I found it interesting. 1
JohnnyBlaze Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 I thought Masked Rider and Ghost Rider were interesting when I read them but I don't have any desire to read them again. Traveling Music I struggled to finish but I did eventually. Roadshow I just couldn't finish. 2
vaportrailer Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Of the ones that I've read, Masked Rider seemed to be the only one blessed with an editor, so that would be my pick.I find his writing to be stiff, self-involved and awkward. But maybe that's what he's going for! If NP had a no-nonsense editor, his books would be more enjoyable to read/sit through. Otherwise it's like reading a long-winded blog. :finbar: 2

No internal editor either.
Tony R Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Masked Rider for me.I thought it was very good. Peart is a drummer first and writer second and I think some here are a tad over critical. He writes autobiographical travel books and his attention to detail is appropriate to the genre.Clockwork Angels is awful. I am amazed he got involved because he certainly knows what a good author is. 1

Fridge Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Save yourself the bother...he's a rank rotten writer. 2
Segue Myles Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 The Order Of The Phoenix. Oh, wait...you're not talking about Voldemort. 2
Steve Smith Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Neil is a wonderful lyricist and musician but he is no Bill Bryson
