The 'single' (bizarre as that sounds, considering it's Iron Maiden) from Somewhere in Time was Wasted Years. I do love Mindcrime, but I choose the Maiden album over it in this one. It never really impressed me, although I really liked a few songs, I remembers finding it a bit overwrought. Somewhere ranks below Powerslave, Piece of Mind, and Seventh Son for me, but right now it's no contest. Maiden for the win. HOWEVER... I haven't listened to Mindcrime in more than 25 years, and my tastes just keep getting broader. So I'm going to relisten and see if I just 'didn't get it.' EDIT: I'm wrong and have no idea what I'm talking about. It was Empire that I bought and that failed to impress. Because of that I never got around to listening to Operation. Nevertheless I'm listening now and. As soon as he started singing my vote remains the same- his singing style bugs me. The music is very good, though. Better than I remember on Empire, but in fairness I already established that I can't rely on my memory at all. :) I do think I would have bought this and liked it, though.
