Toughest round yet, would have been even tougher if y'all had the taste to not vote off Presence so soon ! :)

 

Anyhow, II, III, and HOTH all have something keeping them from moving from Great to Masterpiece.

 

I know it's splitting hairs, but:

 

II has a drum solo on record. Drum solos are fine live, but on record, no thanks.

III has Hats off to Roy

HOTH has some marginal production and The crunge.

 

Going to go with II

I dig the Crunge, and Zep's soul/funk sensibilities are a big draw for me. It's a big reason that I enjoy the later albums, actually. I'm torn between choosing II or Houses right now, but I'll go with II, as Houses continues to have No Quarter on it's tracklist. Apologies to Whole Lotta (plagiarized) Love.

The reason I picked PG was, I HATE KASHMIR !!!!!!!!!!! It's a good song but it's too damn long.

 

It's getting tough now.

 

I have a lot of history with II, III, IV and HOTH so the next round... I don't know.

2, 3 and 4 are all great albums. As are 1, houses and presence. But PG is the peak imho.

Physical Graffiti is a tough one because there are tracks that are obviously arduously crafted and others that seem like lyrical riffs set to loose studio jams. I'm guessing those tracks aren't much appreciated and thought of as filler.

Houses, though it has a candidate for fave Zep song, OTHAFA. At this point it's almost a coin toss.

 

Kashmir is freaking amazing. Along with Xanadu, the most epic song ever. The only reason one wouldn't think so is overexposure, like Stairway. Thought I'd clear that up.
