I'm not even going to try. It's way too difficult for me because it changes every day. Some days Master of Reality is my favorite, other days Sabotage is. Or Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Or Paranoid. Or Vol.4. See what I mean?!?

Just give what you think today then. You can always post another one a different day if you revisit the thread.

I'll give it a shot

1. Master of Reality

2. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

3. Sabotage

4. Paranoid

5. Vol. 4 (But my undisputed favorite Sabbath song is Under the Sun)

6. Black Sabbath

7. Never Say Die

8. Technical Ecstasy

Master Of Reality

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (title track is probably my favorite metal song)

Paranoid

Vol 4

Black Sabbath

Sabotage

Never Say Die

Technical Ecstasy

Their first six albums are untouchable classics. One of the best consecutive album streaks of all time. Big drop off on the last two. There's good songs on them but you could hear that the band was running out of gas and needed a change. It's amazing what the band did during this run though.

With me the first six are so close to each other. I could rearrange those albums in any order and it wouldn't bother one bit which one came out on top.

As for MOR being the top choice, I think a lot of it has to do with the crushing metal brilliance of Iommi's riffs on the album. Such groundbreaking and genre defining work by him.

There's crushing metal brilliance on all the albums, even on TE and NSD.

Into the void, my favorite riff , fits this post

I would say

Master of reality

Black sabbath

Then a toss up...

I will add it was really a treat to see hand of doom live

Ouch, this is very hard! Black Sabbath is one of my favorite bands (Ozzy!). But I guess I can try, but do not take my list to serious:

Black Sabbath

Master Of Reality

Sabotage

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Paranoid

Vol. 4

13 (why does no one count this album? Its a Ozzy-Sabbath album, and its awesome!)

Never Say Die (I rarely listen to this album, Black Sabbath is dieing here)

Technical Ecstasy (I never listen to this album, Black Sabbath is dead here, until they return with 13)

Well yeah it's an Ozzy-Sabbath album but it's not part of the original Ozzy era that the first 8 Sabbath albums belong to. And a lot of time had passed by the time it was released, 35 years is a huge gap.

1) Sabbath bloody Sabbath. 2)Volume 4. 3) Sabotage. 4) Paranoid 5) Master of reality 6) Black Sabbath. Not gonna rank the two abominations of Technical Ecstasy and Never say die.

What... are you trying to bait me into responding into something? Dude...

Sabotage has been my long standing crown for this. Conceptual and heavy. Yes can go eat turds in 1975. The total on tour/paranoia freakout album.

First album has its charms, though. Raw, bluesy jams.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is like the worlds heaviest ELO album. No insult there.

Master of Reality is very popular I notice, that's interesting. It seems to be very popular with modern stoner/doom fans.

I spent a few minutes deciding if I was going to make it number 1. War pigs is just too damn good so had to go with paranoid.

1. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

2. Paranoid

3. Sabotage

4. Vol. 4

5. Black Sabbath

6. Master of Reality

7. Technical Ecstasy (beats NSD thanks to the brilliant "You Won't Change Me")

8. Never Say Die!

If the title of the thread had been changed ever so slightly, my 1. and 2. would have been Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules respectively :notworthy:
