Dude is a force of nature. He's a flower that grew out of Kurt Cobain's grave. He seems so cool and down to earth, and he's so friggin talented. I don't mean to kiss ass too much, but the dude really impresses me and I have a lot of respect for him as an artist. He just finished this Sound City thing, and he's already plotting and planning the new Foos album. I'm a fan of Nirvana and I think he added a lot to that band, so when he put his first album out, which he recorded himself ala McCartney, I had to get it and it was great! I recently found out that he is self taught on both drums and guitar. The second album, TCATS, was even better.. a Foo masterpiece. I enjoyed subsequent albums, but I did start losing a little interest. Their newest, Wasting Light, is a real return to form. A strong album throughout. These guys have so many good songs, I think. Each album has several killer tracks, some more killer than other. Nothing ever really feels like a throwaway. Rush is like that. Dave's seems to be a serious Rush fan. He told a story about when he was young borrowing a copy of 2112 and playing along with Neil in his bedroom. He's a Rush fan from way back. He's also a Beatles fan- seems we both spent our formative years listening to Beatles LP's on the record player. Love how he got together with Mcca (Sirvana) and wrote and performed Cut Me Some Slack. Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones joined the Foos on stage to perform Rock N Roll. They rocked with Queen. They rocked with RUSH! They're gonna rock with RUSH again! Anyway, there you go. I'll just add that I only saw the Foos once, when they opened for the RHCP in 2000. Was in the lawn, but they rocked it and I remember a dust cloud appearing near the stage. I hope to see them headline one day. Well, there ya go. Thoughts welcome.
