  1. Well I know which way I lean.... SHE LOOKED GOOD!
  2. Normally it's kinda tough to get tons of votes for Kiss with their reputation... but against The Nice?
  3. Well, I was hoping for a close one, but I'm not betting on Kiss here.
  4. Which of these "Shades" do you prefer? KISS - Hot in the Shade (1989) http://assets.rollingstone.com/assets/2014/list/kiss-top-10-albums-ranked-20140325/items/hot-in-the-shade-1989-19691231/140402/_original/1035x1035-20140320-kiss3-x1800-1395425333.jpg or The Rolling Stones - Made in the Shade (1975)
  5. KISS the 1980's albums, which is it?????????????? I've left out Revenge because A it's from the 90's and B it's probably going to win so it's like guitarists who won a Guitar Player category 5 years in a row, exempt from voting.
  6. His solo album would probably be the obvious choice here but that's not with KISS that's with other musicians, although I do think of it as a KISS album. Anyway we know that one would win so I've not included it in the poll. So which is it?
  7. I complied this list after watching a video of someone doing their KISS top 10. Mine had to be 20 though... 1.Detroit Rock City 2.Cold Gin 3.Rock Bottom 4.Love Gun 5.Strutter 6.Deuce 7.Shout it Out Loud 8.Shock Me 9.Sure Know Something 10.A World Without Heroes 11.Not For the Innocent 12.Makin’ Love 13.Nowhere To Run 14.I’m a Legend Tonight 15.Creatures of the Night 16.Saint and Sinner 17.Down on Your Knees 18.Partners in Crime 19.Naked City 20.Magic Touch
  8. Many great live albums have been released over the decades, and many of them can be grouped together by style, length, time period, relative effect on the popularity of their respective artists (like this one), and otherwise. I'm not limiting the making of such threads to myself by making this first one, but I thought it would be a fun exercise to group and rate some live classics, so I have. Which of these career saving releases do you prefer? Peter Frampton's definitive Frampton Comes Alive, Kiss' timeless Alive!, or Cheap Trick's short and sweet At Budokan? Have fun! :)
  9. Two totally different bands from almost the same era in two rather different branches of what is now grouped together as "classic rock." In the early 80s, both bands had the same, rather controversial, idea: "let's do an epic concept album with a story and everything!" So they did, without all the band members being on board in either camp, and the results were widely panned by fans and critics in both cases. But, Kilroy spawned some mega hit singles and was no chart dud. And The Elder gained a cult following after its initial commercial and critical failure. The question remains, which band did it better, or worse, or whatever, in your opinion? I love Styx, but a lot of Kilroy is pretty cringey, and not in a good way. Some great singles don't quite save the deep cuts. The Elder is corny as heck and doesn't sound like KISS most of the time, and the concept is really too vague to take off... but it doesn't really weigh the record down either in my opinion, and none of the songs really turn me off. If I pretend it isn't KISS, I wonder why it isn't talked about more often. Sounds to me like the 80s prog-tinged metal bands were still taking notes on this record. My vote's for The Elder, though it definitely bombed harder. Both are probably underrated though. Kilroy does have a couple killer singles going for it.
  10. http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Bucky%20Bikes%20the%20Bay%20Sept%2019%202009/me%20and%20Alice%20C._zpsibp0wbdq.jpg I regret never knowing Mr. Wagner while he was alive but I've come to know his work and to realize that the "The Maestro of Rock" is one we ALL know....even if we don't know that we know his work. Dick started with The Frost in the late '60s (a Grande Ballroom "house" performer). He composed and played with Alice Cooper, was a credited player with Lou Reed (that amazing intro and lead on Sweet Jane on the live "Rock n Roll Animal) and a session lead who sat in on recordings for at least KISS and Aerosmith while their band-member leads were too zonked out to make it to the studio (Get Your Wings and DESTROYER!)...probably others. If you are a fan of classic rock, you HAVE heard him play and/or heard his compositions performed by big-name artists. I met the wife of the modern-day Dick Wagner Band's guitar player and have since gotten to know Ray. I am sure that I never would have gotten to know and love Dick Wagner the guitar player and composer if I hadn't met Sue but I'm sure glad that I did. If I hadn't met her, I'd never have become a fan of this great musician and all of his spectacular work... So, now you know... Rock ON!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQxTIre9354

  15. ACE FREHLEY EnlistsKISS 'Destroyer' Cover Artist KEN KELLY For 'Space Invader' http://i.imgur.com/61Eb0rY.jpg http://assets.blabbermouth.net.s3.amazonaws.com/media/acefrehleyspaceinvadercover.jpg http://assets.blabbermouth.net.s3.amazonaws.com/media/kenkellyspaceinvader.jpg Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will release "Space Invader", his first new solo album in five years, via Entertainment One Music (eOne Music) on June 24. The CD, which will be released in Europe on July 7 through SPV/Steamhammer, will include at least nine brand new original songs as well as a cover of Steve Miller's "The Joker". This album is the first release under Frehley's new universal deal on eOne Music. Joining Frehley in the studio for some of the "Space Invader" sessions were drummer Matt Starr (BURNING RAIN) and bassist Chris Wyse (THE CULT, OWL). The "Space Invader" cover artwork was created by Frehley's longtime friend, artist Ken Kelly, who designed the iconic cover art for two of KISS' best-selling LPs "Destroyer" (1976) and "Love Gun" (1977). Ken says: "It was very exciting when I was approached with the idea of doing an album cover for Ace." Kelly, who is also widely known for his paintings in the sword and sorcery and heroic fantasy subgenres, most notably for the Conan The Barbarian novels, continues: "I had spoken to Ace on a few occasions about the possibility, so I was delighted when it actually happened. "I am very pleased with the results and proud to play a part of Ace's continuing successful career!" Frehley adds: "I've been talking with Ken Kelly since 2007 about painting a CD cover for me and it has finally happened! I couldn't be more excited about the new 'Space Invader' cover, and the music behind it is also going to rock your world!" Frehley's last album, "Anomaly", was made available as a 2-LP vinyl set featuring two new limited-edition colors on October 1, 2013 via Brookvale Records. Only 750 units of each color were manufactured. Frehley told Billboard.com in a 2009 interview that he intended "Anomaly" to "kind of pick up where I left off with my first solo album" — 1978's "Ace Frehley". "Prior to going into the studio, I listened to that first album, which everybody cites as their favorite Ace record," Frehley said. "I dissected it and tried to get into the same mind set this time around. I think I recaptured some of the musical textures and attitude and vibe that I had on that first record." "Anomaly" was recorded at Schoolhouse Studios in New York and at Ace's home studio in Westchester, New York.
