  7. DEEP PURPLE: New Album 15 December 2012, 4:13 AM Eight years after the release of “Rapture Of The Deep”, following many rumours later revealed to be unfounded, Deep Purple, one of the most important and influential British rock bands of all time, have confirmed the release of a new album completely made of new studio material. After various songwriting sessions in Europe, the band recorded and mixed the album in Nashville with producer Bob Ezrin (in his impressive hit record: Pink Floyd's “The Wall”, Alice Cooper and many others). The album is rumoured to be the perfect match from the original spirit of 70s Purple, and a fresh and modern production. Ian Gillan has recently revealed a few working titles of songs that might appear on the album: “Out Of Hands”, “Uncommon Man” and “Hell to Pay”. Deep Purple's record company earMUSIC will reveal details about the new album in real time as soon as they will become available on a dedicated website where all band members will also be able to post and interact with the fans: www.deeppurple2013.com

  10. It's that time... I'm gonna write notes in a kind brick wall of text since it's VT ;) General extraneous distortion = eliminated vocals = clear, but not too loud like I expected. I can hear some parts of lines I never heard before subtle/cleaner guitar parts = unveiled, and powerfully rendered rhythm guitar = calmed down but not muted except in certain places, it's still a ballsy, angrily powerful riff machine extra guitar solos = good, I've no problem with this aspect bass = sharper, crisper, more available to your ear drums = they sound like drums now and not tupperware, I can hear fills that I didn't notice on the 2002 edition Geddy gang vocals = they've finally been translated harmonically speaking One Little Victory = this one sounds nice and clear but not that different to the original overall, I was kind of like eh?? for a sec Power guitar riff in the middle of Ceiling Unlimited = almost gone, that's a downer, it's more balanced overall though, nice guitar solo Ghost Rider = sounds f***ing excellent, this was always one of the meh tracks on the album for me, it's definitely good now Peaceable Kingdom = Not sure about this track but then I never was, it's got an unusual main riff, the power riff in the middle of this one though is intact, hurrah! The Geddy gang vocals make more harmonic sense here I think. The Stars Look Down = seems heavier, so much for fear of the lack of VT balls. I like this song better too, the cleaner guitars really benefit from this remix, these songs from Ghost Rider through to How it is were my least faves on here but I like them way better now How It Is = this seems heavier too! Cleaned up doesn't automatically mean no balls-muted! The main riff here is definitely more powerful. The bass part really works better to my ears now as well. Vapor Trail = seems like there's more time on this track. Less brick wall = the illusion of more time. Again the bass is revealed telling it's story, that got lost in aural translation last time. The vocals in the verse again make more sense, they're more evident, guitar solo = good, and there seems a lot of "new" guitar parts on this one Secret Touch = here's one where the bass already worked brilliantly, it sounds just like it did. The guitars don't overpower the vocals now, but still have that rasping roar especially when the vocals aren't present but are not lost when they are. There's some cool clean ringy guitar on here that I never heard before, is there weird effect here too around 2.20? Almost like a synth or guitar synth? Earthshine = the oooooohs in the chorus aren't as prominent, hmmmm I like the ooooooos. This song sounded good on the original edition, here it's just clearer, though ironically the "old" ringy clean guitars don't quite reach me the same, but the new "new" clean ringy guitars do, is that a new guitar solo too? Sounds good. The riff right after the guitar solo sounds good and chunky and gravelly. Sweet Miracle = This sounds ballsier in the riff department at the beginning and after each verse, but those guitars don't fight the vocals like before. The "middle eight" with Geddy scatting like an opera singer gone to the jazz side is much clearer and melodic. Nocturne = it's gonna sound boring but this tune is clearer and sharper especially in the vocals and bass, this one always seemed to have the most extraneous noise on it, but I always liked it anyway. The guitars are still dirty but the land rover isn't going right through the puddles and splashing distortion all over the windows this time. We can "see" where we're going. Freeze = Listening to this reminds me again that removal of noise can actually make a song more powerful not less, that's the case here. Drums and bass work much better here than the original. Again the Geddy gang vocals make more sense. in fact the all the vocals make more sense on this now. The other edition could be called VT Lost in Translation Out of the Cradle = on this we get the cleaner guitars and the new wavey guitars working in a much clearer way with the bass, I hear cool guitar amp feedback around 1.40, that I never heard before, fits in nicely. Was it there before? The new wavey guitars at the 3 minute mark are funky chicken neck dance worthy! Overall verdict = I always liked this album, now I like it better. It's not a no-balls muted too-loud vocals disappointment like I feared it could be. To be succinct for a second, it's f***ing good! It still has it's power, it still has it's balls, the guitars are still fierce, they don't get drowned or lost, they're in your face, they're just not strangling you. Dream Theater = I'm not doing one of these for that album  I'm listening to it now though! :yay: :guitar: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: :hi: edit: I missed out the word "meh" on the Ghost Rider bit.

  12. The hornets of your nightmares: Swarms of massive insects kill more than 40 and injure 1,600 in China At least 37 patients are in a critical or serious condition in hospitals Many survivors are now nursing bullet-sized wounds 'The more you run, the more they chase you' victims say Species are four times the size of British honeybees Swarms of deadly hornets have killed more than 40 people and injured more than 1,600 in northern China. At least 37 patients are in a critical or serious condition in hospitals, according to Shaanxi provincial government. Victims of the attack have been left with deep, dark craters in their skin the size of bullet wounds. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/10/03/article-2442384-187F47DC00000578-849_634x410.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/10/03/article-2442384-187E821700000578-828_634x427.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/10/03/article-2442384-187E821C00000578-168_634x470.jpg Over the past three months the cities of Angkang, Hanzhong and Shangluo have been worst affected. The Chinese term for hornets is 'hu feng' and local experts believe the culprit is the Asian giant hornet or Vespa mandarinia, which grows up to 5cm long with a 6mm sting. The insects' highly toxic stings can lead to anaphylactic shock and renal failure. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/10/03/article-2442384-186E955200000578-9_634x335.jpg One victim told local media that 'the more you run, the more they want to chase you' and some victims described being chased about 200 metres (656 feet) by the deadly insects. Authorities have mobilised a special medic team and trained more medical personnel to treat victims. An Ankang official told Xinhua that firefighters have been removing hornet nests. The provincial government said hornets are most aggressive in behaviour when they mate and migrate in September and October. The dry and warm weather this year has contributed to the ferocity of attacks. HUN FENG: DEADLY ASIAN HORNETS http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/10/03/article-2442384-187E822000000578-477_296x223.jpg The Chinese term for hornets is 'hu feng'. Those behind the deadly attacks this summer appear to be the Asian giant hornet, or Vespa mandarinia. The Asian giant hornet grows up to 5cm long with a 6mm sting which injects a large amount of potent venom. The hornet sting can be extremely painful to humans and has been compared to a hot nail being hammered into the body, The head of the hornet is orange and quite wide in comparison to other hornet species. The Asian giant hornet is intensely predatory; it hunts medium- to large-sized insects, such as bees, other hornet species, and mantises. Hornets are most aggressive in behavior when they mate and migrate in September and October. Attacks are difficult to prevent because hornet nests are usually in hidden sites. One of the victims, named only as Mu, said she has spent two months in a hospital undergoing 13 dialysis treatments. She has 200 stitches, but still can not move her legs. She told Xinhua, the Chinese state-run news agency: 'The hornets were horrifying'. 'They hit right at my head and covered my legs. All of a sudden I was stung and I couldn't move. 'Even now, my legs are covered with sting holes.' 'Most of the deaths are due to allergies to the venom, said Shunichi Makino, director general of the Hokkaido Research Centre for Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute, told CNN. 'It's very difficult to prevent the attacks because hornet nests are usually in hidden sites,' he said. 'The venom of an Asian giant hornet is very special compared with other hornets or yellow jackets,' he warned. 'The neurotoxin -- especially to mammals including humans -- it's a special brand of venom.' Meanwhile fears are growing that giant Asian hornets are headed for Britain. The species is four times the size of our native honeybees and has decimated the bee population in France. The dark invaders with yellow feet are thought to have arrive in France in a delivery of Chinese pottery from the Far East in late 2004. The insects have colonised huge swathes of France, spreading along waterways, and with a few hornets capable of destroying 30,000 bees in a couple of hours, honey production has plummeted. It has colonised 39 of France’s 100 administrative departments. The hornets pick on honeybees as they leave their hive until the colony is so exhausted that the hornets can move in and ransack it. Groups of Asian hornets hover in front of a beehive, picking off single honeybees, decapitating them and stripping off their wings and legs before making off with the 'meat ball' to feed their young. It is a further problem for the British honeybee, which is struggling to cope with changes in farming and climate and already has one Far Eastern invader to contend with - the varroa mite, which feeds on the bees and makes their hives more vulnerable to disease.
  13. I haven't heard the album yet, I'll pick it up next week, Until then what's the verdict? I'll keep the poll nice and simple since you're Dream Theater fans...
  14. That Pub in Lambeth I. In the Abbey I am John; I am Paul. I am George. Ringo is not in my tree. Look at me; I'm a Beatle. I'm George Martin; nothing to get hung about. The studio doors have just been opened, and they're open very wide. engineers all around me and Paul has been here all night again. Just one song I recognize, the one where John plays guitar lead. it was bloody easy though, dead simple and ripped off from Jerry Reed . Now my eyes are drawn toward the studio in the east. Fascinates and captivates; Did we go to India yet? The studio roof opens at sunrise we'll play up there till tonight, bursting forth with rocky tunes , the roof has fuckingg floodlights. Living one long studio session, and no touring makes John a dull boy. I've never seen diamonds in the sky glow or Lucy and strawberry fields are blue. I do not know if George will be up by dusk. I live from take to take. I don't live to keep Paul in weed I'm off to that pub in Lambeth. II. Dickheads and Ninnyhammers Rin-go! Work(it out), no! give, live! all you need is, Love! Stay or fight, Yoko's right? Listen to Linda! III. No One At the Bar Cringing back to consciousness, the dampness grips my skin. The room is pitching violently, and full of shrieking women. Beerspray blurs my vision. John spills it walking by so fast. Save me a drink of cider says Paul . I'm splashed, helpless, at the bar. Remembering when first I held a drink in my own hands, I took a sip so eagerly and sailed for distant lands. But now the drink's too heavy. And I just don't understand, why must Paul and George desert me? fucck I need to join a new band! Call out for one more beer and there's no one there to pour. Shout out for some service here but no one comes through the door Dry throat suffocation? or is the barmaids footstep near. Scream out bloody frustration but no one's there to hear. IV. Panatella The whiteness of the Beatles album cover is unfolding in my mind. I stare around the studio toilet in wonder. Have I left my beer behind? I catch the scent of cigars And turn my head, surprised. My gaze is caught and held and I am helpless, mesmerized. Panatella, cuban haze. Oh, let me touch that familiar packet. smoke falls around me and I cough as my lungs heave. Music is the meaning of my life? I prefer cigars to Paul's granny tunes. Penny Lane, Ob-la-Di and Maxwell's Silver Hammer don't let me hear them soon Beatles lost our unity, a curse for ev'ry year. John's lyrics promise me boredom through the years. And now I must be gone recording before the light of dawn. Panatella, tobacco pure. I can't resist your gentle lure. My lungs will lie beside you, and my tickly cough will never leave. V. Black Forest Gateau Another endless day. George's face is grey. Another studio war. John and Paul fight with eyes that shine. Fifty days with that shrill Yoko moaning. Long nights, I'm going out of my mind. Ringo has left the band ah well there's a cast of forty-three. drummers,to my mem'ry, who are ten times better than he. Give me back my drum kit. He said to Paul, c'mon give. It's just one song it doesn't matter. There's not much more to do on that one, anyway Paul said, Ringo doesn't want to live. Another f***ing studio dawn. eating gateau it's almost gone. Another doubtful year. Abbey Road is not so clear. Ringo's back no one notices at first, in the end we act cheerful, f***ing Yoko. VI. The Pub Look at the rest of them lying, through their teeth, Here Comes the Sun is George's. See the steps John couldn't make it up without help from the other two. Hear the arguments reverberating In my head I need this beer. Fucck, my head is pounding the album isn't even halfway finished. For now at least I'm back once more in this pub in Lambeth. I'm tired of all that singing, I'm tired of Yoko's breath. Many days end here, and the beer tastes the same. That bathroom Window song is just too much to handle, John thinks that Linda's to blame. The key, the end, the answer, strip them of their women. otherwise it's all confusion, well it is to my eyes. Though I've reached the end of this post; it's really not the end. Like old Geoff back in the studio, I'll be going there again. I'm not sure which Beatle I am. I am Paul?. I am George?. I am Yoko? John?. I'm George Martin. I'm a part of this band. forever, oh god am I the drummer from 1960? Pete Best. No. Still, I am.

  19. Ever wondered what would happen if Rocky took on Raging Bull? Well, soon you’ll find out. Except their left hooks might be a little shakier than you remember … Sylvester Stallone, 67, and Robert De Niro, 70, are to face each other in the ring in a new film, Grudge Match. The pair team up to play two aging fighters returning to the ring for one last bout some thirty years after their last meeting, a fight that effectively finished their boxing careers. In a new trailer the two actors are seen training for the forthcoming fight before squaring up to one another as the bell commences proceedings. The film also sees them borrow heavily from their previous boxing endeavours - particularly Stallone, whose role as Henry ‘Razor’ Sharp sees him work out in a meat locker, just like Rocky. With both actors getting no younger - Stallone is 67, while De Niro is 70 - cosmetic trickery is used to fashion them into young, angry boxers in flashback scenes, including one in which Stallone, looking remarkably like Rocky, announces his retirement from the sport. Another, more comical scene sees the pair climbing into skin suits illuminated with bulbs while they throw mock punches for an animated computer game that ends with them throwing punches for real, prompting the rematch. Other stars to feature in the new film include Kevin Hart, Kim Basinger, Alan Arkin and Jon Bernthal - best known for his role as Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead. In one scene a concerned Basinger tells Stallone: 'No matter how hard you guys work you won't be your best,' to which he responds: 'That's all we've got.' While it revolves around settling old scores, Grudge Match is essentially a sports comedy, with De Niro seen playing his embittered character, Billy ‘The Kid’ McGuigan for laughs. Both actors have history when it comes to playing punch-drunk palookas, with Stallone’s mainstream Hollywood career effectively launched by his hugely popular Rocky franchise. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC0D0A000005DC-538_634x341.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC61AE000005DC-991_634x339.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC625D000005DC-231_634x342.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC6291000005DC-750_634x402.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC624B000005DC-220_634x340.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC5E83000005DC-293_634x345.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC5ED8000005DC-763_634x346.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC6068000005DC-118_634x347.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/13/article-0-1BCC0C8E000005DC-595_634x348.jpg
  20. Just clowning around or something more sinister? Town spooked by man dressed as terrifying character from Stephen King's It Mystery man dressed in full clown outfit spotted around Northampton One woman claims he knocked on front door to paint her windowsills Clown resembles demonic character played by Tim Curry in 1990 film A man dressed as a clown bearing a striking resemblance to the notorious film monster Pennywise is spooking residents by posing late at night around a town and waving at passers-by. The figure has been spotted in full clown attire around Northampton - and one woman claimed he offered to paint her windowsills after knocking on her front door, despite having no equipment on him. There is no explanation for the appearances by the clown - who bears a striking resemblance to the demonic character played by British actor Tim Curry in the 1990 horror film Stephen King’s It. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/16/article-2421823-1BD9BA34000005DC-114_634x460.jpg http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/16/article-2421823-1BD9BA2C000005DC-551_306x423.jpg The clown appears to have even set up a Facebook page, which now has more than 26,000 likes. He writes comments under pictures of himself, signed off with Pennywise’s catchphrase - ‘beep, beep’. Since his first appearance last week - on Friday 13 September – he has sparked a raft of speculation among locals who fear he may be up to no good. Others have even threatened to attack him. But the clown said on his Facebook page: ‘Too much hate, not enough love. No, I don't have a knife on me. That’s just stupid rumours spread by stupid people. ‘I'm also “not” on Twitter as it confuses the heck out of me. However, I might go for a jog around that pond in Abington Park later as I'm really unfit. See you around. Beep, beep!’ The clown has been spotted in several areas in the town, including in a shopping district at 11pm. He has also been snapped clutching a set of juggling clubs and even colourful balloons in one picture. In a caption to the shopping district photograph, he wrote: ‘Beep, beep! Didn’t think I'd be seen tonight. Extremely quiet but there were a few of you who saw. See you all around.’ 'Beep, beep! Didn’t think I'd be seen tonight. Extremely quiet but there were a few of you who saw. See you all around' Mysterious Facebook post by clown Some Facebook users with coulrophobia - an abnormal fear of clowns - have pleaded with him to stop. Others said they are ‘freaked out’. Kelly Keen said: ‘You’ve been spotted - now get out of the clown suit and start acting like a grown-up that you supposedly are. 'Stop scaring people as some people do have real fears of clowns and you are terrorising them, despite what you may say.' And Korey Brown wrote: ‘I would probably mug you or seriously hurt you. No hard feelings bro(ther), but I’ve always wanted to hurt a clown.’ http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/16/article-2421823-1BD9BA38000005DC-851_634x406.jpg However, others praised him for creating a talking point among locals. Jay Gould said: ‘Poor clown - just trying to liven up Northampton, and people threatening to hurt him.’ 'We can confirm that we have neither arrested nor dealt with any crimes involving anyone dressed as a clown' Northamptonshire Police spokesman Northamptonshire Police confirmed today that they had received calls from members of the public reporting three clown-related sightings over the weekend. However, the force said no crimes had been reported involving people dressed as clowns or any arrests been made in connection with the clown sightings. A spokesman said: ‘We can confirm that we have neither arrested nor dealt with any crimes involving anyone dressed as a clown. However, we received three calls over the weekend relating to people being seen dressed as clowns.’ http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/09/16/article-2421823-1BD9BA28000005DC-237_634x404.jpg Mother-of-three Felicity McDonald, 45, who lives in Northampton, said: ‘It's the only thing anybody has been talking about in the entire town today. 'He'd better be careful around a town like this. If you go about dressed as a killer clown, it can only end in tears' Felicity McDonald, Northampton mother ‘Some people are really going too far, saying we need to stop him because they are so freaked out by it all. It is a little bit weird and everyone is just expecting it to be something sinister. ‘It’s like Stephen King's It has come to life. He’d better be careful though around a town like this. If you go about dressed as a killer clown, it can only end in tears.’ Meanwhile, some social network users reported sightings of a vigilante 'Clown Catcher'. Twitter user Samantha Phillips uploaded a picture of a bald man sporting sunglasses and a Superman-style costume, with the caption: ‘Northampton now has a clown catcher too.’
