  1. Alex sat in with the band Big Sugar when they played in Toronto on Friday night, Nov. the 24th. It's always great to see him play! The first video is them doing a cover of "Good Times, Bad Times" from Led Zeppelin I. The second video is Alex playing along with a Big Sugar song, RIAB says it is Ride Like Hell. ?? (I'm not very familiar with their work, but I like this song with Alex on it!). Alex plays on the the second video for about 9 minutes, then it is Big Sugar only. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Gs8IYQ4Kjg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5peAe_orCQ
  2. It's back from the dead, I'm resurrecting the TRF Google Hangout. Since my hand injury I have found it difficult to talk to many of you via text in the chat box so I figured why not continue to bump this topic back to the top of Random Samples on a daily basis (I'll try limit it to one bump a day). For those of you who weren't here last time, I created a video chat TRF members can join with a bare-bones Google+ Account. I believe it also works if you simply have gmail. If you have a functioning webcam/mic on your mobile or computer, you can easily join in by clicking this link: https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/event/c2iv6tpbpthhefv3pslgd0gh464 In order to talk to folks, they actually have to be in the chat too. Lots of people simply joined when nobody was active and wondered where we all went. Well nobody was in when you joined. This thread will be used to create events people can plan to join or just to announce when you're in there just waiting for someone to join. The last time we had this operational, I met many members here and got to know them better than I would through just their posts. Many are different in reality. It was a lot of fun to meet members like Mick & Segue, TombstoneMountain, ThatOneGuy, PolarizeMe, and other regular TOSTers. I hope to meet more of you if you wish or at least provide the opportunity for many of you to meet others. I would like it if anyone offered any other ways to chat face to face (other than actually meeting), please provide some recommendations for other places and we will amend this post to allow more than just Google+ because it is sometimes a pain. Last time there were issues where some couldn't join so I'd love to put up some alternatives. Also please ask any questions I failed to answer here, I'm very likely to have forgotten something
  3. I'm really interested in what you like on North American TV. We get a sampling of whatever gets picked up by local networks. I don't watch much free-to-air because it's dominated by reality TV which I loathe. So I watch a lot of our equivalent of cable, Foxtel. I loved Westworld. I'm really liking Legion. Both series were ones where I said "WTF?" at the end of each episode. I like cop shows and mysteries but don't like zombies. I like scifi and not romantic drivel. Tell me what to look out for. I'm willing to buy DVDs if it's the only way I can watch something (like Battlestar Gallactica).

  5. OK, the last update on what Rush type people were doing in April! (this one from the RushIsABand website also! It is an awesome place for information- thanks!) "This year's Rushfest Scotland took place in central Scotland this past weekend. Legendary Rush producer Terry Brown was the special guest speaker and a video of his appearance has been uploaded to YouTube. Terry is interviewed by Paul from The Canadian Music Scene for over an hour and talks about his early days in the music business, working with Rush, and many other subjects, and also spent some time answering fan questions. You can watch the full interview on YouTube and get a complete rundown of how the weekend went including photos and video on the RushFest Scotland Facebook Page." I posted the Youtube video below- I haven't had time to watch it yet . . . .
  6. Okay, so now that (user name withheld) is gone, here's a Watchmojo list of famous people who actually do deserve grief:
  7. So, you're a drummer in a church band. Let's see... what would Jesus play?

  10. Hello everyone! This is my first post in The Rush Forum. I've just finished a Rush-related project that I've been working at school for the past nine weeks and wanted to share it with fellow Rush fans here. It is a stop-motion video set to Tom Sawyer with lyrics, printmaking, and a Mark Twain guitar solo. I put a lot of work into this and I'd love for you to check it out. Also, let me know what you think and share it with others if you dig it. Thanks so much! Modern Day Warrior: http://youtu.be/gapX8lunWk0
  11. I was watching a live video of Territories with the animation in the backround, and I noticed that one of the inflatables had a QR code on it, has anyone been able to scan that? Could anyone let me know what it leads to if it's been done. Ever since I saw it I have been pondering what joke they probably linked it to and don't want to wait for the DVD to get it.
  12. Wow. Listen to this set list and Geddy's voice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT5YMFlqx44
