Hi everyone! I've asked the forum admin if it would be okay to post about Rhythm Magazine's up-coming special tribute to Neil, out at the end of this month (November 2020). We have been working on this issue for a while now - we had to shut temporarily when shops and airports closed earlier this year, and so this issue, due out originally in April, is long overdue and much anticipated, but it has also given us the opportunity to really craft it - and it is a truly amazing tribute to The Professor. We have the main feature about Neil, covering his life as a drummer and world-famous member of Rush, his sound and various setups and his personal journey as a musician, lyricist and man. Then we have a moving set of tributes from drummers he influenced and inspired, including Mike Portnoy (who's written a brilliant Recommended Listening article all about his favourite Rush albums and tracks, and why), Jon Theodore, Marco Minnemann, Craig Blundell, Tim 'Herb' Alexander, Peter Erskine and many more; and from people in the industry, including John Good at DW and Chris Stankee at Sabian. And rounding it out, we have a spread devoted to Neil's drummer teacher, Freddie Gruber, who Neil learned from later in his drumming career, helping him with his setup and method, helping him move more fluidly around his set - this is by Dave Weckl and Steve Smith, two very well-known drummers who also studied with Freddie. We are a drumming mag in the UK but we sell the magazine in shops around the world, though not everywhere, and so in case anyone here would be interested, I wanted to give some details about it and links to our online shop: www.rhythmdrumnetwork.com A copy is selling for £5.99 (UK delivery), prices change by delivery location to include p+p. Subscriptions - if you are interested in drumming or are a drummer yourself - start at £49.99 (UK) - 10 issues a year (1 every 5-6 weeks). I hope you find the time to check it out - it is a wonderful tribute paying homage to one of the best drummers and lyricists ever and who is so sorely missed. Thank you for your time, Ondine Barry, Publisher Rhythm Magazine

We've all seen good to fair Rush tribute bands. In all the cover bands I've personally been in that do Rush, and with all the other bands that I've seen do Rush, there is always a certain rock edge but a general struggle to get through the song. This one is fresh, smooth, innovative, and, and dare I say, emotional (check out The Pass). Smooth Brazilian female vocals (Gabby), all instruments and production by one awesome dude (Celo). As Rush in Rio testifies, much love for Rush in Brazil. https://www.youtube....next hemisphere Fleesh is a Brazilian Rock project formed by Gabby Vessoni and Celo Oliveira. "The Next Hemisphere" - a Rush Tribute, released on October 2017 available in all digital platforms for buying and streaming. (iTunes, Deezer, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify) Recorded, mixed and mastered by Celo Oliveira at Kolera Home Studio. Artwork by Gabby Vessoni Playlist: The Garden The Pass Bravado Mission The Trees Here Again Losing It The Way the Wind Blows Resist Tears Nobody's Hero Closer to the Heart The Stars Look Down Limelight Note that many of these are the "Rush ballads", so don't expect metal or hard rock versions like Halestorm or Sebastian Bach's stuff, Respect.

kRUSH plays at the Fish Head Cantina in Baltimore on Friday the 19th. If you're in the area and wanna come out, please do! We play from 8:00 til 10:00. A nice early night! I've heard rumors there will be some forum members there available for autographs and hang outs. ;)

If anyone is interested, we are playing in Baltimore next Friday, 9/19. We played there last month and we're really hoping for a big crowd. The Fish Head is a cool place but we're hoping to get into some bigger Baltimore rooms. The only way you get that? Fill the smaller rooms. Soooo.... shameless self promotion is required. We start at 8:00 at the Fish Head Cantina. 4802 Benson Avenue in Baltimore, MD. After us is Non-Fiction, a Black Crowes tribute. Not a huge fan of the Black Crowes but these guys do sound really good. If you're local to Baltimore and want something to do, come one over and make sure you say hi!

My band kRUSH is playing a show this weekend at the Fish Head Cantina in Baltimore, MD. If you're in the area and not busy, please stop by and check us out. We are playing with an AC/DC tribute which could also be cool. It's a cool place, actually and we're working on drawing more so we can book some bigger rooms. Upward and onward. Thanks for your time.

my band's version of Losing It which was played at RatCon this year. I was actually a little nervous. Gerry Hilera was scheduled to play with us but unfortunately could not make it. Our guitar player, Andy, took the violin leads and the guitar parts. On an already tricky (for me anyway) keyboard pattern while singing I was picking up a few things as well that I wasn't counting on. Wasn't 100% sure it would work but, overall, pretty pleased with it. It will now be part of our repertoire since we do not need a 4th player for it.

kRUSH has been chosen to play RatCon 2014! What is RatCon? RatCon is a gathering of die hard Rush fans for a weekend of fun and celebration of the band Rush. This event will be held in Marlboro, NJ. Why a rat? Credit needs to be given where credit is due. The entire Rat theme was formulated by Mr. Oddtimessarcasm back in an April of 2008 thread right as Rush was settling down in Puerto Rico. He said as he saw it, that there were three underlying themes in the world of Rush right now. "We are fat on Rush right now and we aren't used to it. We are used to six year layoffs and tidbits of news every 15 months or so. Now we have been stuffing ourselves silly on new albums and Geddy, Alex or Neil on the cover of pretty much every music magazine you have and have not heard of. This is not our usual feeding pattern and we are confused little animals. Like the Rats we are, we just keep pulling the treat handle and hoping the pellets never stop coming. Some day the echo of pellets will no longer ring in our rodent brains and then what the hell are we going to talk about?" These are the coolest people in the world and have embraced our band, kRUSH. We are absolutely thrilled to be playing in front of the most rabid, die hard Rush fans you have ever seen. I can't wait!!

Hello all! My band kRUSH - A Tribute to RUSH is playing a show at the Fish Head Cantina in Baltimore, MD on Friday, May 9th. Playing right before us is a Led Zeppelin tribute bad called NOCODA. It should be a great event! Anyone in the Baltimore area interested in coming out or helping us spread the word? It is our first show in this great city and I would love to have a good turnout to start the "word of mouth" process. Thanks all!

Hey! My band kRUSH was interviewed on WVUD in Delaware. It was pretty cool. I guess we're getting some local popularity. Yay us! In case anyone is interested. We did an acoustic version of Closer To The Heart at the request of the interviewer. 6:30 am is not the best time for my voice. Haha. A lot of fun though. http://www.udel.edu/richard/TMR/tmr0012krushpod.mp3
