In the late '70s and early '80s, Kansas and Genesis each released double live albums (remember those?), Two For The Show and Three Sides Live, respectively. Each album contained medleys, or more accurately, an older song that leaned towards the heavier side of their style, which went right into an instrumental excerpt or two from other older songs, then into their best known powerful slower tune. Very comparable types of songs and arrangements, so, poll-worthy! I honestly can't pick between these two. I'll give my opinions later, and let you all cast your votes and comments. If you haven't heard these in full, I highly recommend giving them a listen. This question has probably been asked a million times throughout this forum's 10 year tenure, but I'm curious. My vote goes to Houses Of The Holy. Perfect blend of everything Zeppelin was good at, and each tune has the ability to stand out on its own, and zero filler. TSRTS: Fantastic rampage of doubleneck guitar, drums, and everything in between. Rain Song: Great ballad showcasing Plant's voice, Page's guitar chops, and JPJ's keyboards OTHAFA: The "pop hit" of the album, but a good tune nonetheless. The Crunge: Where's that confounded bridge? :D Dancing Days: Nice standard hard rock song. D'yer Maker: Interesting little funk number. No Quarter: Easily one of the best tracks they've ever written. The version from the reunion tour in 2007 is bone-chilling. The Ocean: Bonham at his finest.

I'm sure there are some oldskool metal fans on here who remember Hellion from the early 80s as a rock solid heavy metal band. Up From The Depths, Screams In The Night & The Black Book are all great albums that I feel some TRFers will have & love. Well, the band have recently released a 5 track EP entitled Karma's A Bitch & it's a strong effort that's worth a listen if you're into Hellion. It's very cheap too. Less than a fiver. Simon Wright (AC/DC,Dio) is on drums & does a great job, as does guitarist Maxxxwell Carlisle. The riffs are great, the solos shred & Ann Boleyn's vocals are really cool. Here's a taster.

Bolt Thrower was on my list of "bands-to-be-checked-out" for ages now, and t last, I took time to listen to their album Honour Valour Pride ( ). Awesome old scool thrash, bulletproof heavy riffs, and growling vocals which I like a lot, but I know it may put people off. Anyone else a fan or at least familiar with this band?

We played a show with them at The Dobbs in Philly. They were absolutely unreal. Incredible level of musicianship and definitely are up and coming. These guys are the coolest people to hang with and were very excited when they found out we were a Rush tribute. They not only have good taste but play some amazing music. Worth a check out if you like a heavier prog sound. -
Hot chicks playing occult metal, but with good songs! What's not to like? They toured with Ghost and Uncle Acid.

So for Christmas I got The Lord Of The Rings 1-3 in my stocking. Never have seen them before, never read the books. Just finished "The Fellowship of the Ring" and OMG!! It was beyond amazing. I almost cried at the end... Discuss Lord Of the Rings
