  1. As much as I love Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters, Snakes and Arrows wins my vote IMO. Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace is probably one of the Foo Fighters' weakest albums.
  2. tas7

    Hardest Rush book?

Coming to the end of reading Rush and Philosophy by Berti and Bowman, and it has been one very heavy read. Anyone else read this, in some parts it has been like reading Joseph Conrad or something by Steven Hawking?
  3. What Rush album do you identify with the most? Meaning, as far as lyrics regarding your situations, feelings of the moment, your story, etc. The one I identify with the most is "Clockwork Angels". I want to travel and see the world, learn new things, be non-conformist from old beliefs (BU2B). I've also learned not to hold grudges against people for bad things they did to me (Wish them Well, even though that song is trashed by fans here), as well as reflection in hoping one day I tell my future children about journey. What about you?
  4. Alrighty, now's the time for everyone to participate. List your top three favorite artists that aren't Rush, or three of your all time favs that aren't Rush. The bands that have the most mentions after necessary time for posting has passed (and a great deal of posts to work with) will be entered into a new topic with a poll and we'll vote on TRF's favorite band! (That isn't Rush) Here's mine! Queen, Muse, Genesis Let the games... Begin.
  5. The Neil Peart autographed Rush R-30 photo collage pair is for sale on eBay: RUSH - Neil Peart R30 print #1 by Andrew MacNaughtan - Signed by Neil RUSH - Neil Peart R30 print #2 by Andrew MacNaughtan - Signed by Neil
  6. Check out what I made today: http://img04.deviantart.net/03fb/i/2016/217/c/c/rush_by_surrender74-dacrhw5.png Thanks for the title idea LakesideShark!

  8. The Prof discusses RUSH at 19min mark. Mining Music Downloads http://tvo.org/video/programs/the-agenda-with-steve-paikin/matthew-woolhouse-mining-music-downloads
  9. Here are the rules. Rank the worst most absolute crap Rush songs ever. Ok, I'll start 1) Xanadu
  10. A recent photo leak from an anonymous hacker reveals that our idol, Geddy Lee may in fact be biologically female. As to why Geddy has kept this crucial aspect of his life from us is beyond me. This new found evidence begins to answer many of our fundamental questions regarding Geddy's mysteriously high vocal range and luxurious locks. Don't get me wrong, I still love the band, but this changes everything for me. - - - - - - - SCROLL DOWN - - - - - - - - - - - - - (MOD EDIT: removed photoshopped image of Geddy's head on naked female body. The naughty bits were censored, but still too revealing for this board.)
  11. WARNING: POSTS OR PORTIONS OF POSTS MADE IN THIS THREAD MAY BE QUOTED BY ENTRE_PERPETUO IN HIS ESSAY FOR SCHOOL. DO NOT POST IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO POSSIBLY BE QUOTED. So some of you may possibly remember me posting a thread a while back where I considered the idea of trying to get a real interview with Pratt discussing the lyrics of 2112 and their effects on bringing so many people into Rush's fan base. Well, as life got busy and realism set in, that idea kind of fell through, however, I'm still writing an essay on Rush and I'd still like to collect some primary opinions on this stuff. So here's a thread for you to post your answers to a few questions and for everyone to share their stories of getting into Rush. 1. What led you to become a Rush fan? 2. If the album and/or song 2112 played a major role in your induction into the Rush fanbase, how did it do so? 3. What meaning do the lyrics and symbols of 2112 hold for you, or what lack of meaning if there isn't any? Happy posting, feel free to discuss with others like any other thread.
  12. If any of you play Clash of Clans, on andriod or iOS, come join my clan, Rush 2112. We so far have about 30 players, constantly talking about Rush R40 tour, and playing whats that lyric. Always looking for more fans to join us. If your interested, feel free to search us up, are clan code is #RGJQ8CJ . Just refence this post and we will be happy to have you join us. I look forward to seeing you there.
  13. Who was the most progressive of these classic prog rock bands. Inspired by listening to ELP's giant triple live album (you know the one) in rememberance of the astonishing Keith Emerson, and thinking they really might have had the clearest handle on prog rock's traditional ideals, a seamless and authentic blending of jazz, rock, classical, and other genres, with thought provoking and/or fantasy and science fiction lyrics. Now my sig says my answer, and I do stick by it, but Rush were only the most progressive IMO because they progressed beyond the traditional constraints of prog, if that makes sense. At their most traditionally proggy, I think they were only equal in progginess to these other bands. What do you think? And if I missed anyone major, please tell me!
  14. Hey guys. I've been inactive for a while on the forum for reasons related to an overdose of schoolwork, which is actually - paradoxically - what brings me here once more! By the end of the school year, everyone will have a yearbook. In that yearbook, we each have to write a quote, summing us up, and I figured, what better to do than to use a Rush lyric?? Also, who better to ask for suggestions than the Rush Forum family? So, (cold) fire away with your suggestions for which Rush lyric I should use for my yearbook quote! Many thanks in advance!

  16. Only in Toronto could you sell highend clothing with a drum kit. http://links.holtsstyle.com/a/v.x?t=plgpbacmmhmpakeapapbfmplpilhomndchniblglibddhkjbggaanepddkakdgfbhfbfmdllhehcebnmbgpc&v=4
  17. Am I the only person here who's bothered by the fact that Alex never plays the Earthshine solo live the way it was recorded? As a result I've always felt Earthshine is quite weak live.
  18. So, Japan. Rush went there once during the 1984 Grace Under Pressure tour. I don't know much about the GUP tour in general, but there seems to be a bit of mystery surrounding the Japan leg of it. What I'm talking about has to do with the equipment used. If this is something I could learn reading the books, I apologize, but I seem to come up with a new question about Neil's kits that needs to be answered every day! This could be something everyone else knows, but here goes... This link http://broonsbane.tr...om/rushneil.htm takes us to a webpage detailing the history of Neil Peart's Tama Artstar prototype drums that were used between 1982 to 1985, within the 1984 GUP Japan tour fell. However, the page mentions that "When Rush played their first and only Japanese concerts in late 1984, Hoshino-Gakki spared Neil the travel expense, by building a replica set sans brass-plating and vibra-fibing. Neil needed to only bring his hardware, heads and cymbals." http://broonsbane.tripod.com/neilsdrumsbacks.jpg I'm inclined to believe the kit is/was real, since Hoshino-Gakki is the owner of the Tama-brand drum name, but I haven't heard or read anything about them outside that page. So my questions are: Can anyone confirm this? What became of the kit following those four shows?
  19. So it took me just over a whole year to listen to all Rush studio albums switching every four weeks. I think now I'm just going to listen to my favourites, this is always a battle to choose which one is my favourite. Since I listen to them in my car I was curious what your favourite albums where to listen to while driving or commuting around your city?
  20. What us your least favorite 80's Rush song. Mine is Hand a Over Fist from Presto. Really the only snob I don't like from the album.
