  1. I want to see people crying like babies with nostalgia over this album. Come on now, bawl like little brats! :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:
  2. I bumped into her when she was shopping and she looked at me like she was freaked out! She ran out of that supermarket like Usain Bolt! I went to her house and kept looking through the window but she kept herself hidden. I camped out behind her house and waited for her next shopping trip but she must have sneaked out and sneaked back in again. What a sneak!
  3. Since Neil's passing, I have taken an interest in his "shunpiking" travels by motorcycle as outlined in several of his books. He loved taking the road less traveled, and I would love to experience these routes myself. That being said, does anyone know where I could find the specific routes/roads taken during some of this travels? The only thing I have found so far is a destination map someone put together from his book, "Ghost Rider" (Neil's Peart's Healing Road) and a travel diary from another forum. Any assistance would greatly be appreciated. THANKS!
  4. Nice video from Neil
  5. I am not a drummer (guitar), but to me, at least, the dynamics of Neil's kick and snare are quite disparate from album to album. On some of their offerings, I can barely hear the kick and/or the snare sounds like he's hitting a trash can lid. On other albums, the kick punches through so forcefully and/or the snare is like a small cannon or is super tight. IMHO, Counterparts has the best of both worlds~ A nice clear and forceful kick and a perfectly balanced snare. I'm interested to know which album has your favorite drum sound?
  6. They sound way too loud and METAL for Neil! :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz: :haz:
  7. I just want to share my reaction when I saw that Neil had announced his retirement. Not sure when everyone else found out but I only found out today. Obviously it was expected but... I woke up, got my phone and opened Facebook and the first thing I saw was "Neil Peart announces his retirement" now, before I even finished reading this, I genuinely thought it was going to say he'd died or something so I absolutely shat myself and my heart dropped. Then I realised what it actually said and I just burst out crying for about 5 minutes. Obviously this seems like an overreaction but I was still half asleep and I'm an emotional person okay. Please share your reactions and make me feel really daft! :)
  8. anyone can post a question, anyone can answer, but you must answer using Rush lyrics lyric replies can be as much or as little of the lyrics as you like (though please try to resist using single-words :D )
  9. Talk to me people we need to communicate! :smoke:

  11. So I'm a junior in high school and I'm in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. For the IB program (which lasts through both my junior and senior years), I have to write a four thousand word extended essay on a topic of my choice. I have chosen the topic of Rush's 2112, namely its lyrics and its mass cultural impact. Put (semi) simply, over the course of the next year (starting about now), I will be writing a four thousand word essay examining the lyrics and cultural impact of Rush's breakthrough album in order to explore the question of why 2112 had and has continued to have such a prominent cultural impact including its lasting and incredible effect on Rush's fanbase. At the present moment I have not begun writing yet, but I am gathering a list of sources which I may intend to cite in the paper. While I was talking with my school librarian earlier about finding good sources for such an essay, she suggested I try to find a way of setting up some kind of interview (anything from exchanging e-mails to meeting in person) with the man behind the lyrics, Neil Peart. I think this would be absolutely awesome, but I'm not sure how to make it happen. So I've come here to ask you all: what do you guys think of the idea of setting up some kind of interview with Neil where I can ask him questions about his lyrics on 2112 and his opinions about the reasons for the albums humongous and lasting popularity and impact? If I were to do this, what would be the best way to contact Neil and set this up? What kind of interview should it be? Email? Social media? In person? What do you guys want to know that I could ask Neil regarding the topics my essay will be covering (2112, lyrics, cultural impact, effect on fanbase, etc.)? Should I ask questions regarding anything other than my essay What other ideas/opinions do you guys have that might be useful? I'm asking the fan base's advice on this, so feel free to ask other Rush fans you know what they think. ...and go. :)
