I recently ran into an obscure old prog rock band on iTunes and listened to their debut album (s/t, 1972) with my dad. I have to say, Captain Beyond is out of this world awesome!!! With a vocalist straight from Skynnard or Molly Hatchet, guitars somewhere between Zeppelin and Yes, great bass, and a drummer in a snare filled class of his very own, these guys so should've made it. As far as I'm concerned, they could've been the great American prog band, America's response to the original English prog classics, rather than early AOR bands (i.e. Styx , Journey, REO Speedwagon) and going right along with Kansas. Why did they fall by the wayside? Why didn't they make it? What are your thoughts on them?- 7 replies

Hey Everyone. Exciting news to share. I am heading to Disney World today. This will be my 5th visit (4th that I will remember everything about), and I am stoked, mainly to go on Splash Mountain over and over again, but also for the new roller coaster, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, opening during my visit, and possibly meeting John Ratzenberger during the Star Wars Weekends. Has anyone else ever been? Favorite Rides? Funny Stories? etc... I am a huge amusement park fan so this is kind of a pilgrimage for me. Side note, I am leaving The Rush Forum...TEMPORARILY (see what I did there) as I am probably not going to bother posting from an ipod on the trip unless some big news happens. See everyone in June. Ok, it arrived yesterday, I've played it twice and the stereo remix once and it's Prog-f***ing-Licious! Greatest Prog album eva, now got the Steven Wilson breath of life bestowed on it. I Get Up I Get Down is glorious!! Buy, buy, buy!!!!
