  1. Hey everyone, Excited to join The Rush Forum to talk about our favorite 3 musicians! I was lucky enough to see RUSH perform on their 2nd to last ever concert (R40 Tour - Irvine Meadows Amphitheater), and their music has always had a profound influence on me. Limelight was the first full song I learned on guitar, and I ended up learning other songs on both guitar and bass over the years. I have a YouTube channel "GuitarBeastKing" where I post concert videos, as well as guitar/bass covers that I record at home. I take great pride in the guitarists I cover, with the goal for every video to be the BEST cover of that particular song online. So, feel free to check out my RUSH covers! 2. Found this on the web tonight . Super cool . Alex and Geddy together again. At the South Park 25th anniversary concert , Red Rocks !!!!!
  3. https://alexlifeson.com Great to see Alex has been keeping busy and has more new music in the pipeline.
  4. Here's a link to a quiz that exists, in case you don't know your answer already: http://www.quizfarm.com/quizzes/Rush/Big_Tommy_P/which-member-of-rush-are-you/ I scored as Alex Lifeson, which probably means I'm on an emotional high right now and I had too much coffee again. I'll probably be Neil in a couple of weeks, in which case I'll be on the forum with the iPad in bed while complaining about my life and cursing society. I just wish I could reach a Geddy-style equilibrium once in a while.
  5. NOTE: The following groupings of albums is NOT intended to classify, categorize or otherwise codify the albums in any logical fashion other than to divide them up into as equal a number of albums as possible for the five groupings-- ***Feel free to choose your solos from live albums as well for the relevant grouping of albums...*** FOLLOWING ARE MY FIVE FAVORITE LERXST SOLOS FROM THE LISTED FIVE ALBUM GROUPINGS... I am interested to know what yours are~ RUSH >>>>>2112 - - - The "By-Tor and the Snowdog" solo from ATWAS AFTK >>>>>MP - - - The "LVS 'A Lerxst in Wonderland'" solo from HEMISPHERES (I think this is the correct part-Please correct me if I am wrong) SIGNALS >>>>>HYF - - - The "The Analog Kid" solo from SIGNALS PRESTO >>>>>T4E - - - The "Cut to the Chase" solo from CP VT >>>>>CA - - - The "Headlong Flight" solo from CA ~~~
  6. I'm curious to know how you guys and gals stack Lerxst's solo in LVS up against the best guitar solos of other guitarists you like. I like a lot of other guitarists (EVH, Petrucci, Satriani, Rhodes, Lynch, Bettencourt, Aldrich, Beach, Bonamassa, Di Meola, Lukather, Buckethead, Govan... just to name a handful). In my opinion, Alex's LVS solo is the best, most creative, unique, soulful and dynamic solo out there.
  7. I will be ranking every Rush original studio album. Each track will be rated as follows: Awful, Very Poor, Poor, Below Average, Average, Above Average, Good, Great, Superb Each album will be rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Feel free to give your input on each album and discuss why you like/dislike each album. Please keep it civilized and have fun!
  8. I will be posting my reviews of Rush's studio albums. Tell me whether you agree or disagree with my thoughts on each album. Keep in mind I will be posting a rating at the bottom of each linked article, my thoughts have changed since I wrote some of these.
  9. According to RIAB, "The 11th Anniversary Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival will take place in Toronto from March 3rd through the 13th, and will include an evening of comedy and music with HELLO! THUNDER BAY! on Monday, March 7th at the Randolph Theatre. HELLO! THUNDER BAY! will be hosted by Dave Bidini of the Rheostatics and will feature Alex Lifeson, Terra Lightfoot, David Quinton Steinberg, Tom Power, and Odario Williams sharing their funniest stories from the road." Here is the link for the festival- http://www.torontosk...lo-thunder-bay/ If I lived near there, I would go; I'd bet Alex's tales from the road are hilarious! I wonder if he changes names to protect the innocent?

    Lakeside Park

EDIT: So my mom surprised me and my dad with tickets to go to Canada, and see Rush play in Toronto! We went exploring all around to some of the cool places Rush sings about! Lakeside Park was definitely one of my favorites! So here's some pictures to go along with the great song! We also met fellow Rush fans there! It was really neat! LAKESIDE PARK http://i.imgur.com/T0SCd.jpg Midway hawkers calling "Try your luck with me." Merry-go-round wheezing same old melody. A thousand ten-cent wonders, who could ask for more. A pocketful of silver, the key to heaven's door. http://i.imgur.com/wMUFZ.jpg Lakeside Park, willows in the breeze. Lakeside Park, so many memories. Laughing rides, midway lights, Shining stars on summer nights. http://i.imgur.com/XR2aa.jpg Days of barefoot freedom, racing with the waves http://i.imgur.com/I4crJ.jpg Nights of starlit secrets, crackling driftwood flames http://i.imgur.com/cjB56.jpg Drinking by the lighthouse, smoking on the pier http://i.imgur.com/QrEMl.jpg Still, we saw the magic was fading every year http://i.imgur.com/XuUhs.jpg Everyone would gather on the twenty fourth of May, Sitting in the sand to watch the fireworks display. Dancing fires on the beach, singing songs together, Though it's just a memory, some memories last forever.
  21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gYOkEcWzceY I was there!!! Its a week long intense orchestra camp that plays lots of rock & roll! This was the final concert, and that's my mom with the blue viper violin with the yellow dress! I'm so jealous she got to play Rush with her group and I didn't! :( BUT it was amazing to watch!! Everyone go take a look!

  23. This is going to sound really strange, but just hear me out, ok? I had a friend in school who told me that he heard somewhere that Alex Lifeson did the drumming on Rush demo tapes. This is not something I'd ever heard before, and I'm somewhat skeptical since anything I've searched has turned up blank, with the exception of a page on tvtropes about Rush (http://tvtropes.org/...?from=Main.Rush . Somewhere around "Hidden Depths"). I'm inclined to believe that this is where he read it to begin with, but it just doesn't sound right. It just seems too hair-brained to be true, but maybe I don't know about Rush as I thought I did! Can anyone confirm this?
