  1. That sounds good for interviews. And I agree with that thought. Plus, I'm sure Peart believed that. Still, the fact is, much of their later material was Peart writing completely separated from Lee & Lifeson. After he wrote he'd present his lyrics and they influenced the music at varying degrees. IMHO, sometimes the lyrics just seemed like they were tacked on or crammed into the musical sections itself <-------- [some 21st century material anyway]. I think the real downfall came when Neil married Carrie and moved to LA. The distance between all of them made it even harder to really work on musical ideas together. Well, think about this: If it weren't for Carrie, there's a good chance that Peart wouldn't have gone back to work. It's possible, but we'll never know. Yeah, that's a tough call...but I'm just glad he got over his issues, and came back...heck we got 12-13 years that wouldn't have existed! Just like we talked about when this was coming to an end last year....I'm just happy we got the extension, and will leave it at that! This could have been over and done with in 1996! Yeah, his lyric writing went in a totally different direction, and reading Ghost Rider was sort of hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........................
  2. That's actually not a bad idea...you'd think that they would release each album cover in that "art-mode" and have them individually available for doing something like that! (and not soak people by forcing them to pay the same price as the entire book for each one) Hell maybe even making the first 100 of each, numbered with autographs available, then just selling the rest with no autographs... (and since this was my idea, providing me the 1/100 cover of each one as a thank you for giving them this idea!)
  3. Yeah...the "art-ing" up of things...limiting the output to "several" and jacking the price up is kind of a lame thing....and as I said before...the fact that someone with a quick hand is going to get two or three...keep one for themselves, and put the other ones up on E-Bay to recoup their losses is even lamer....(same with tickets, and the like...)(ok, off soapbox on that) What's next...a "Geddy approved wine" with a Rush logo for $200.00? (ooops...maybe they'll use it)
  4. It was a great show despite the few mess ups... Neil messing up the Nat Sci drum fill...Alex's guitar issues... My friend and I opted to go to this one because it was on a weekend, and Philly was during the week...Had we known that this was "IT" we probably would have gone to both..
  5. Yeah...think it's kind of lame that they're putting stuff like this out at enormous prices! Some of the earlier stuff was over the top, but now it's getting out of hand! AND the fact that people are probably buying this, THEN trying to make more on E-Bay or something is even worse!
  6. Nine years! YIKES!!! Still one of my favorite "latter day" albums!
  7. Are we talking sound? I give sound a six of one, half a dozen of the other...all live discs anymore are decent sounding... I'm more on the content bandwagon.... Rio isn't my favorite because the crowd is too present in the mix, but the setlist is decent (I think I have a few boots where the sound is decent enough)...R30 has moments, but the covers get in the way.... Snakes and Arrows is one of the better setlists....Time Machine and Clockwork Angels has too much newer stuff, so they sort of sit in the middle....R40 is great because of bringing some of the older stuff back!
  8. Project Object cancelled...bummer! No explanation other than they need to reschedule probably for the fall.... Ok...we can add PAUL McCARTNEY to the list on July 19th in Hershey! And I just saw that Toto is coming to Lancaster in August! (and not as an opening act!) DT this Friday... Now I can add ARW! Going to see them at the Keswick in October! (and I also saw that Yes is coming to Lancaster in July...only hesitating on that because I'm not a huge fan of the line up...and Alan White has seen better days...but they're doing two parts of "Tales" and Howe and Downes are playing great...tough call... Ok...broke down and got a ticket to the Yes show as well... They're doing the whole Drama album, and sides 1 & 4 of Tales from Topographic Oceans...Could be an interesting show.... So I now have Paul McCartney July 19, Zac Brown July 23rd, and Yes July 25th...then Toto August 29th, and ARW on October 15th! Not a bad year!
  9. Caress of Steel...... (just sayin')
  10. Who's in it these daze?!?! Montreaux...cool! :dweez:
  11. That's it... my wife and I have severely different taste in music, and she's a hindrance if it's a band I want to see and I "make" her come along (her words) so I just go by myself...if it's a show in Hershey, and she's around, I'll have her drop me off and pick me up since it's ridiculous what you have to pay to park over there! (and there are some back ways that the "tourists" don't really know, so it gets me home and out of the traffic!) What IS cool is that there's a guy she works with that is a concert going freak, and since his wife has pretty much the same taste in music as mine (i.e. nothing good) we've been hitting those types of shows a lot lately....AND he knows his way around the Philly area so shows at the Tower and places like the Keswick aren't out of the question. I love the Tower Theater! Beautiful place. I haven't been there in a little over ten years, though, so I don't know what that area is like now. I've actually only been there once...and his one daughter went to school at Villanova, so he knows that area fairly well... it's a nice ares from what I saw...same with the Keswick's neighborhood.

  14. I got lambasted from guy on a FB Yes related page because I think Alan White should hang it up! Sorry..the past two times I saw "Yes" (Howe, Squire, White & Howe, Downes, White) Alan was struggling, and not hitting the mark like used to... The first time, I was just thinking "bad night" the second time was "Alan, please retire".... I'd respect more if they called it a day, and let it go already... Howe should just do solo tours, he's still at the top of his game, and Downes is playing great as well... Not a fan of Billy Sherwood, and not a huge fan of the singers they've had... yeah they have decent voices...but...
  15. In his defense ... most people around here know if you see him you don't run up and try to talk to him or get a pic ... he will do those things at certain times in certain places but not when he is just going to the store or trying to have dinner etc. ... I've seen him a few times around town and I just know not to mess with him ... I'm cool with it ... now all thins doesn't mean he wasn't actually a dick to someone here and there ... he just likes to live his life around here without being bothered too much Well that's just normal... I had a friend that lived in NYC, and he said that it was horrible to watch people just walking up to actors and musicians, and just bugging the living crap out of them! One person he felt totally sorry for was Jerry Seinfeld! Said people were always bothering him... But the few that I've spoken with said that it's just general crap with him..wait staff at restaurants, and all that... I have a buddy who has had direct contact with him, from a music/ tech/ TV production point of view and said he is not pleasant person. John Mellencamp or Jerry Seinfeld? Just curious. I'm a little tired today, was having trouble understanding which one, in case I run into them ??!! :P :P Mellencamp...my friend said that the encounters HE had with Seinfeld were fun! (kind of a "if you don't approach him he'll make a stupid comment" kind of ordeal...) I think they went to the same restaurant a lot, and Seinfeld got to know his face as a "local"... Never saw him when I was up there, though.....

  17. It's not one I hate...but it's a good "comeback" kind of album...I like the live versions better...and the "re-production" of it helped make it a little more palatable!
  18. Well that's the thing..as they released more albums, they kept the newer stuff to a minimum for the most part...because people wanted the classic stuff! The current two incarnations are just bad! Ok Steve Howe is amazing, and Geoff Downe's take on stuff was great on the last tour...but Alan White needs to hang it up! Sherwood is a good musician, but he's NOT Yes... I did get to see Chris Squire on the tour a few years back (with Benoit David and Adam Wakeman) and that was a decent show, but still not the Yes a lot of us were used to seeing! The last one was just crap! (and the MAIN reason I went was because I wanted to see Toto, who opened) Jon Davidson is just a stoner that has a similar voice to Jon Anderson....but he's not him! I enjoyed John's show with Jean Luc Ponty more than the Yes show! (and hope to be enjoying the ARW show later in the year!) The thing with the Union shows was that the ABWH version of the band was kicking more butt than the 90125 version of the band, and in order for those guys to do anything, they needed Jon... but the album was just a horrid thing! They should re-do it the right way...
  19. Pretty much...it sounded like a piecemeal album full of over processed outtakes...one or two tunes were pretty cool. but most of it was a waste! The tour was off the freaking charts though! I'm SO glad that I was able to go see it!
  20. I've heard Mellencamp is an ass to deal with... I have some friends from Bloomington that have heard a LOT of bad things about the guy!
  21. HAH! They also have Chicago's 25 or 6 to 4!! hahahahaha!!!
  22. Yep..that's it...put on A&B, then flip and it's C&D! Less messing with it! Although after the turntables changed to not have the stacker because people were starting to think stacking the albums messed them up, it sort of got to be a pain..play side a...then pull out the next album for side b and put side a away for 30 minutes...etc....
  23. I love Queen's first five! ADATR is ok...not my first choice...and I DO like Jazz occasionally...but the first bunch are all wild listens!
  24. What I found interesting once, was Umphrey's McGee (247) had a listing in the top 297 prog albums in the book "Mountains Come out of the Sky" (The history of Prog) (which I recommend readin!)... I never even considered them "prog" but after listening to that album (Mantis) with a "prog head" I can sort of see how they could be classified, and when I have any of their stuff in, it gives me a new appreciation thinking that this is a "hybrid" between my "jam" and "prog" mind! But I tend to agree that most are leaning towards Jazz because of the improv parts of the tunes, and a lot of the bands have different instrumentation other than guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards...a lot of banjo's, violins, wind instruments, etc. which IS cool! (Dave Matthews older stuff was great for that!)
  25. Ironically...after posting in this thread, I got an email from "The Artist Shop" which is a (mostly) Prog online music store that I've used to purchase a LOT of obscure things...The guy that runs it (Gary) was someone that used to frequent the old AOL band forums way way back, and used to get us the obscure stuff we were all looking for, I suggest tooling around Gary's site! http://www.artist-shop.com/
