  1. With all their millions the guys shoulda sorted this out in some way. There'll be some who say not obligated but i personally disagree quite strongly. That place was just too significant in the band's history. Re this one issue i'm actually disappointed in the fellas.

They could have at least turned it into a Rush museum!

  2. A guy I know who claims to be the world's number one Neil Peart expert, (stalker, more like it) told me that on the Permanent Waves Tour Neil was using Slingerland drums. Not sure if I believe that one... if he is correct, they weren't the black ones. They looked kind of wood coloured brown. But, they sounded great!!

If I remember correctly, the black chrome Slingerlands were retired after the Hemispheres tour, and he had the Rosewood Tama's for the PW tour. In fact, I think the promo pictures of them in the studio for the recording of that album had the Tama's...

  3. Any more I download what's out there, and listen to it...if it's worth it, I purchase it, if not, the discs get tossed into a box, never to be heard again.

Found an Mp3 version of the discs online, and the only thing I've heard so far that's worth it, is the alternate 2112 from Massey Hall. Not a bad version! (and this proves to me that there are alternate live versions of things out there in vaults....so RELEASE THEM ALREADY!)

The "cover versions" are ok, and yeah, I agree, the Steven Wilson version is great.

So I will pick this one up at some point after the holidaze are over.

  4. That's odd... I've always liked both bands, and get into moods to listen to them occasionally... Not one of my go to bands when I don't know what musical mood I'm in, but they make the serious rotation about once every two years (when I get into one of those...start with the first album, and listen to each successive one until I get tired of them, or get to the last one)

I pulled Point of Know Return and Two for the Show over the summer...

  5. Watched it last night (Got it at Best Buy for $21.49....should have set it up to ring up at $21.12...THAT would have messed with fans! hahaha! )

anyway... Good stuff...Wish it was longer, though, you can only imagine how much footage was probably taken and edited down?

Wondering how many concerts were filmed like that and shelved for various reasons?

(and yeah...I totally miss Media Play! used to go there and spend HOURS!) (and a lot of cash)

  6. Hope they show this at a theater near me. I may have to check it out. As far as Neil's book goes I'll pass on that. I have plenty of sleeping aids already...

Yeah....The past ones are occasional reads...they feel like the dive reports I put up for my friends when we go scuba diving...it's my "dive log" entry, but some of it's funny and the guys I dive with are entertained... His road reports are interesting at times...but get a little...blah blah blah....

  7. I wouldnt make a special trip but if I ever had to spend a weekend in Cleveland and had a few hours to kill I may just go.

Pretty much how I got to see it....We were in Indianapolis for a few things...(convention, DCI pre-lims, etc.)(Chromey wasn't there yet...saw him another trip) Went up to South Bend on our way home to just go see Notre Dames campus, then drove across Ohio to Cleveland, and hit the RNRHOF on our way back...

It was interesting from an "old" perspective, but the artists that were in over the later years, don't justify calling it rock and roll.... Ok, Pink Floyd had stuff in it, Springsteen was the featured artist at the moment, They had Queen's stuff in it, etc. But the fact that Michael Jackson was in it and some of the other bands, make it a "eh" sort of museum...

  8. Ok, just heard, and got a ticket to Dream Theater at the Hershey Theater on October 8th!! (ten minutes from my house)

That'll be a crazy day, I need to be up in State College, PA for the Penn State-Maryland game at noon, then I have to come home for that show at 8:00pm!

Guess I'll sleep in the next day.....

  9. In a pinch, McDonalds is the one I can tolerate no matter where I go...they are the most consistent! The simple hamburgers/cheeseburgers, and quarter pounder like things are always good...as is their fish sandwiches, and I love their breakfast when I'm in the mood for those kinds of calories! But I try NOT to eat any fast food with and regularity, unlike I did when I was younger and always out....

Wendy's is next, pretty consistent, food usually tastes good.

If you can find a Hardee's, I'll go there....but they're tough to find. We had a great one not far from where I used to live, and I was hooked on Frisco Burgers!

Burger King has gone WAAAY down hill over the years...their food tastes like crap! I never DID like Chick-Fil-A...KFC is slightly OK...but not great. The one in Hershey is bad, but the one where I used to work was pretty good.

Taco Bell is "eh" take it or leave it...have to be in the right mood...(rather just go to a Mexican place) but the food is usually good.

I totally hate Subway! worst food on the planet...I'd rather just go look for like an Italian restaurant that sells subs and pay maybe a little more...the food is usually fresher! Same with Pizza Hut...can't STAND their pizza, and there are plenty of pizza places all over...

  10. Too bad Neil wanted to hurry to retirement, so much so he stunned Ged.

You know, I've given that a LOT of thought, and when I think of it, I always think of the Yes show I saw last summer and how badly Alan White played...he definitely affected the show, and it was disheartening to see him like that. When I went to see them a week ago, Alan wasn't playing due to some injury/surgery that he's had, and they had a replacement. It was a much better show... (granted...Yes has had a revolving door of characters over the years, so it's not like it's three guys and three guys alone, that make up the band)

Saying that, if you went to a show, and Neil wasn't playing up to his usual standard, wouldn't you be extremely upset? I think it's good that he knew enough to get out of it while he was still on top, and not try to come out and fake his way through a performance.....

I fully agree, but believe the end was hurried. The only tour in decades without a second leg, and that happens to be their last tour ever?

He was more than capable of doing 30 more this year, based on his 2015 performances, giving the international audience a chance to see them one last time, and a handful of final shows in US/Canada.

Yeah, THAT'S probably what actually upset me more than anything else. I figured that they'd have at least another leg of the tour, then have one massive blow out show in Pittsburgh or somewhere with some sort of significance...

I would not be upset if he was not playing up to his usual standerd. I would be upset if he was not playing with Geddy and Alex.

Sorry....I'd be sick if I saw him playing the way I saw Alan White at that Yes show....and Alan doesn't play HALF as hard as Neil ever did!

  11. It's sad to not be able to look forward to a tour or an album or something at least from them. I absolutely appreciate everything that we got from them. They have meant a lot to me in my life. For one thing I wouldn't have met any of you crazy people. ;)

Yea, without this place, what would we do with all that spare internet surfing time? Watch cat videos? :pussy:

    We'd do it anyway....
