  1. Now on the other hand... does anyone think that the PW release (when, in 2020?) will have a full concert with the Hemisphere's suite included? Remember, they recorded a bunch of shows in anticipation of a live album, but shelved it in favor of MP???

Hope I'm wrong, but we're going to get St. Louis 1980 (about 80 minutes of it anyway.) Seems like any real money in the budget for these went to Hugh Syme.

Not a horrible show, but incomplete.... There are a few great bootlegs out there that could work with anything Cygnus/Hemisphere related

  2. Just got my Hemispheres cd's today....I guess I'm a little disappointed in the fact that they included an old bootleg concert (albeit it sounds better than most of the versions I've heard) and took measures to include another version of 2112, rather than include a live version of Hemispheres! There HAS so be something in the vaults from when they were touring....

Another nice thing would have been an alternate mix, or something...

  3. Album was interesting, I would have liked to hear the "harder" mix that Jonathan Mover talked about in an interview I remember reading...he said it was a BIT more "prog" than what they released.

I haven't gotten hold of any of it, but the band's vision of what they wanted released was somewhat different than the album that was released. It's pretty solid the way it came out but a lot of potential was left on the cutting room floor.

I'm sure.... The "powers" wanted it to be more accessible to the masses, but the band wanted it a little more "fun"....

Apparently Robert Berry has released a new cd 3.2 that has stuff they were setting up for a second album. (Stuff he and Keith Emerson were working on) I need to find that one!

Not sure if I'd get that one or not. It's just Berry. Emerson or even Palmer don't play on it. Guess I haven't made up my mind on that yet.

I got it, not a bad disc. I think the music was stuff that Emerson was working on with Berry at one point. Berry just did everything himself.

  5. Bummed.....NOTHING on the horizon...would love to see Toto, but I have a PSU-Wisconsin football game that day (should be a good one)

I MAY try to see Kansas, although I'm not overly enthused about the new lead singer...but POKR is my favorite album, so....

  6. It was AT LEAST a step in the right direction after Hold Your Fire, but RTB just took it back to "eh" .

Counterparts was good, but T4E only had a few decent tunes.... When Vapor Trails came out I was thrilled! (although I wasn't a HUGE fan of the tunes)

  7. I'd say that other than anything live, I'd be obsessed with

    Caress of Steel

    AFKT

    Hemispheres

    Permanent Waves

    and Snakes & Arrows

Counterparts and Clockwork Angels are close behind.

Don't get me wrong... I LIKE the other stuff...but these albums all mean something to me.

  8. It took me about 1/3 of the way through Jacob's Ladder (The first tune I really listened to) to realize that it was the same guy playing EVERYTHING!

The only thing he did wrong was that he didn't have his hood up on the sweatshirt, and a cigarette hanging out of his mouth when he was playing the timpani parts!!!

AMAZING!!! (and I HATE Rush covers!)

(Edit: Natural Science gave me "wood"! :wtf: )

  9. Kinda hoping for a Hemisphere's release...not as much cover band stuff, but maybe a live release from that tour with (finally) a whole "Book II" version....

I'm still hoping for an "Archives" 40th anniversary release with live stuff (and out takes) from the "early years"! Would be cool to finally hear some official stuff from that era.

  10. I've said it before...but a friend years back got ATWAS when it came out, and about a week or two later, I was at his house and he said "Hey...you're a drummer, right? I saw this band a few months back and they released a live album.... you have to hear this drum solo"! So he played Working Man through the end, and I was AMAZED! So I had my mother order it from Columbia House the next day (along with Caress of Steel, which was the only other album they had listed) and became an instant fan!

  11. They might be better off doing the 40th anniversary of Archives...which is next year!

I found an original copy of that album at a record store few months ago, 15$ and in great condition!!

    Gray cover or black cover?

    Grey

That was my first exposure to RUSH. I borrowed my friend's copy and recorded it on Akai reel-to-reel tape.

Ditto! My totally first exposure was ATWAS at a friends house...I went home and had my mother order that and CoS from Columbia House for me. CoS was my first Rush Studio album!

Whoever said Archives would be a great 40th Anniversary box... THAT would be interesting, since they could REALLY throw some serious odds and ends into that. I'd mostly love to hear live tapes from the CoS tour, even if they're just personal board tapes. We still don't have any official setlists from anything they headlined.... (Massey Hall that tour)(hint hint)
