  1. What you said... If this is true, then it's missing the mark, especially since it was reported years back that they recorded a few shows to release, but then decided to record Moving Pictures. Come guys, the "vault" has to have SOME more live stuff!!!
  2. Just glad I have two postcards from Neil, and the Hemisphere's album signed by the whole band. No need for anything else....my "personalized" shit is so cool!
  3. Dusty Street.... She used to be located at the RnR HOF studio. My wife made the comment today that this is the most songs in a row that she's seen me air drum to while driving! :rfl:
  4. I listened to the August 1, 2015 LA Forum show this week. I had it downloaded, but never burned it, so......... Been sliding in and out of the XM channel.
  5. Wow! I heard at one point yesterday that they were only extending it to Sunday! Was sitting waiting for my wife to get out of an appointment, and heard the whole Fountain of Lamneth on the channel! I can now say I've heard EVERYTHING from Caress of Steel on it!
  6. Well the thing is (at least for me) that once I gave the album a few spins, I've always listened to the lyrics with a deep sense of scrutiny, and have always loved the fact that his lyrics were on the level of a book author, rather than a rock lyricist. Some of that stuff is DEEEEP! I had an old friend that was a high school English teacher, and she used to use his lyrics in her poetry classes (and she really wasn't much of a Rush fan, but she LOVED the lyrics!) All good stuff!
  7. In the End on ATWAS gave me a chill when it played the other day... The phrase "We are only immortal, for a limited time" really hits home, now! How true!
  8. Hopefully Modern Drummer has an entire retrospective magazine of all of his interviews, and columns over the years! It would be nice to have everything in one magazine!
  9. That's disgraceful and, you're right, utterly tasteless. No class. No dignity. Venal is what it is. Do you guys know what anagram that completely defines irony? FUNERAL REAL FUN I figured that out on my own but I'm sure many know it. When we had a career day when I was in high school, we were told to write a business model for one of the seminars we attended... my one friend and I went to a funeral director, and when we wrote up our business model the catch phrase was : And remember..... the first three letters in Funeral are FUN!! (and we had a blast with it!)
  10. OH MY GOD! I Think I'm Going Bald is on XM! NOW I've heard everything!!!
  11. I honestly think that the musicians of the world would HAVE to do something to honor him! When you listen to any interview with any musician that has any respect among other musicians, they ALWAYS mention Rush and Neil as someone that has inspired them! AND I'd be willing to bet Mike Portnoy would be the catalyst for such an endeavor!
  12. I honestly would not doubt that he chronicled this issue. There HAS to be something that he wrote throughout the last three years.....
  13. When I first heard, I was on my way out of town, and didn't have an opportunity to grab anything...and my wife isn't the greatest Rush fan in the world, so I was limited. I was glad a few things popped up on social media, and the odd thing on XM (until today when Deep Tracks went total Rush) My first CD listen will be tomorrow on my way to work, and it will be All The World's a Stage.....THAT'S the epitome of what got me hooked on Rush and Neil! Nothing will ever beat that as my "litmus test" Everything after was just major frosting on the cake!
  14. I'm glad that this didn't leak out, and that his and his family's privacy was kept intact! What's bugging me at the moment is the marketing of anything with his likeness on it all over social media!
  15. Listened yesterday and they played Rivendell.... Got on a little today and they announced a "tribute" channel for a while... I knew they were serious when The Necromancer was played! I guess that's pretty deep, too!
  16. http://youtube.com/watch?v=KbFq6Tn64qo Great sounding show! I was bummed though because I saw them in Baltimore rather than Philly on that tour.... I collected everything I could find years back, but sort have leveled off over the past bunch of years. I think I have at least one really good show from each tour, and pretty much stick to stuff like that when I'm in the mood (no pun intended)
  17. Ok...then there's the OTHER side of the coin.... as I listen to some of their stuff.... I hear Transatlantic chord progressions...wondering if there's anything to check out further!
  18. Ok.... Just an update on stuff that I've found since this show happened... I saw a little information from a few odd sources about UNIT dB, and where they came from (Unitopia) and I was able to find a setlist from the show I saw, and actually find some of their music. So the past week, I've been listening to their stuff and HOLY CRAP! I LOVE it! I mean I loved hearing what I heard when I saw them live, but after giving things a critical listen, I am totally a fan! (although they aren't together anymore) but I've picked up their entire output and Amazon lets you listen to the Mp3 versions, and I'm amazed! I'm So glad I got to see this band live, and hear what I heard, and now that I can relive it, it's great!! (the other offshoot band is Southern Empire which is another great band, get their stuff!)
  19. Julie's great! (although I like her solo stuff a lot) The drummer did a nice job, I will have to admit!
  20. I think that 99.9% of any reissues buy any band are just a way to grab money from the completists in the crowd! I like the original LP versions, and the reissues when they converted to digital and fixed them! After that... no.... (even though I'm a Steven Wilson fan)
  21. I've been chastised on these boards before for saying it, but I would never go see a Rush tribute band..... just not something that I feel would ever give me any satisfaction, closure, etc. I've seen a few Pink Floyd tribute acts (Australian Pink Floyd, Brit Floyd, The Machine) and I can only take them in small increments.... The only tribute act I saw that was AMAZING was the Genesis tribute act The Musical Box! THEY were off the charts amazing, and it was more like a "theatrical" production since they re-created the entire Lamb Lies Down on Broadway show! OMG I felt like I was at a genesis show! I used to jam with a few local guys that played in several local bar bands that would just take a day, and jam through Rush, Floyd, Genesis, UK, Grateful Dead, Yes, etc. on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon when we were bored... have a few beers, and just have a blast. None of us ever wanted to do the tribute thing, but we just had fun playing the music.
  22. Sorry... Not into the whole new "vinyl" movement.... Boost your bass a little, and you'll get the same deeper sound.... CD is still my favorite!
  23. I had it on in the car yesterday, and The Anarchist is over the top! But I DO like it more than I did when it first came out. I liked it live, but still wasn't "bought in" to it at the time.
  24. Of the "newer" albums; Vapor Trails had some moments, but it's not the first one I grab.... I like MOST of Snakes and Arrows, It took me seeing some of the songs live a few times before they really caught on with me..but maybe like two or three don't sit well. Armour and Sword is one of my favorites... although a lot of people seem to not like that one?!? At first I wasn't thrilled with Clockwork Angels, but the more I heard it (and experiencing it live several times) I REALLY started to like it a lot!
