  1. QUOTE (traeplien @ Sep 21 2012, 02:35 PM) Saw that show twice in Philadelphia. Nothing on the current tour that can even touch Hemispheres live.
  2. That brought back some beautiful memoreies for me. Caught that tour in Pitts.,PA and I can remember just about everyone leaving the arena wishing to follow them to the next show. CP and T4E(2x in NJ - Continental Airlines Arena, PNC Arts Center) were the best RUSH shows I have ever attended.....great set lists and awesome perfomances.
  3. QUOTE (presto123 @ Sep 18 2012, 05:48 PM) There is no best only favorites.
  4. QUOTE (moedrabowsky @ Sep 18 2012, 04:26 PM) Thread is not any more useless than ones telling us that 85 percent of TRF users like the setlist. Crumble that one up and throw it in the "No shit" file. Evidently, it's very important for some Rush fans to point to a poll on a Rush freak forum to prove they are "right" about the setlist being the greatest thing in the history of things. Reactions to the set are subjective. If you liked it, great. That doesn't mean that someone who did not -- and who saw a whole lot of people grumbling -- is not "wrong." We now return to your regularly-scheduled circle jerk. Rational thinking is still alive today.......
  5. Geddys most accessible singing. I think that is why I cannot get all warm and fuzzy about the majority of the new material - his voice does little for me. IMO, its akin to trying to do too much with it. Musically and lyrically this is some of the best stuff they have done, but his voice ruins it for me. Just an opinion.
  6. secondly, no one here is hating on anything. disappointed, you bet but hate? come on. I personally find it narrow-minded to think that raising a few objections equates to hating.
  7. GREAT points being made about playing so many CA tunes in a row. Add this to the mix, what radio station would be playing anything other than Caravan, BU2B, and Headlong Flight (if...I mean if even those songs)? I am guessing the majority of those going have no inkling about CA and its concept, let alone other songs than those noted. If RUSH has indeed acknowledged that touring is the means to make money as musicians, their next tour should be a bit more "tune friendly." Not sure this tour is going to bolster album sales for them nor create a lot of warm and fuzzy feelings for those to come back and see them again.. I know that I will not sit through another RUSH set of 7 - 8 new songs back to back. IMO, they should have sprinkled the CA singles throughout the set. It would have worked just fine.
  8. In all seriousness and respect, I would think that for people who don't like the current set list, those tours would have been awful for them. Why? Look at those tours and see what was played along with the new album that was out at the time. A nice sprinkiling of tunes served RUSH-style.
  9. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Sep 17 2012, 01:57 PM) QUOTE (zappafrank @ Sep 17 2012, 12:55 PM) To anyone who took issue with my "true fans" comment(s), I apologize. I just *really* like the current set list, and am still reveling in the fact that so much of the stuff I never thought I'd get a chance to see was represented. Passion, etc. Again, I apologize. Thank you. Glad you liked it. Of the 14 shows I've seen, I think it was the worst setlist, but that's me. That would be 20 shows for me and I would agree with your assessment.
  10. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Sep 17 2012, 01:18 PM) Know what's ten times worse than somebody who doesn't like the setlist on this particular tour? Somebody who says you're not a "true fan" unless you like every little thing Rush does. More lectures from the high and mighty. Great. This is so much worse than the handful of tour complaints.
  11. This is the place for the TRUE fans You sir, can stick that statement where the sun doesn't shine. This place is for ALL Rush fans. Of course I may have missed the sign on the door that said "Only TRUE RUSH fans admitted." If I did, please forgive my post. If no sign exists, the sun comment still remains.
  12. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Sep 17 2012, 12:12 PM) QUOTE (Thunder Bay Rush @ Sep 17 2012, 09:37 AM) I'm really not much of a computer guy, I go on this site and a couple others. I check my emails once a day, at best. But, I was curious to see if other people were complainng about the set list, or if it was just a weird thing on this site, so I went to a few other Rush sites, and yep, lots of grumbling. At least more than I would have expected. But, here is what I DO NOT understand... This tour - this one that some people are whining about, is called the ... get ready for it - the "Clockwork Angels Tour." During the "Tour of the Hemispheres," Rush played all of that album. During the "A farewell To Kings Tour," they played nearly all of that album. During the "Permanent Waves Tour" they played nearly all of that album. So, if there are people out there who are really that misinformed that they expect a band to spend a year and tons of money making a new album - and then go out and play Finding my Way, Passage To Bankok and Anthem all night, they must be retards. There's my non-politically statement of the day. So, please, stop your goddam complaining and consider yourselves LUCKY that your favourite band, or at least ONE of your favourites bands is STILL even working after 40 EFFING years - and - to me, "working" means NEW material, a NEW (and very expensive) tour and possibly a NEW concert DVD. Rush is NOT blended into a Festival Tour with six other bands that could never headline in today's market accept for maybe in 1500 seat theaters. I understand your fustration with this but comparing Rush playing all of CA with them playing all of AFTK, Hemispheres and PeW back when they came out are two completely different situatiuons. Back then Rush was in the prime of their careers and people were wanting to hear the new material. They had hits on the rock stations and had albums that went gold and platinum. The fanbase was younger and more enthusiastic about their band having new material and playing all if it live. The fanbase craved it and they loved that Rush played all their new stuff live. Then came MP and the synth era when Rush blew up huge and ended up being exposed to more people and turned out many big hits. The fanbase changed a lot in the 80s and it still continues to this day. When a band becomes really popular and changes their sound drastically like Rush did in the mid 80s, there's gonna be a divide among the fans. There will be those who stick around no matter what. There will also be those who don't care for the newer material but still enjoy the old stuff enough to come out to the shows so they can hear some of the songs they grew up with and made them fans in the first place. That's if Rush decides to play any of those songs at all. There are a few thousand diehards in the audience at each Rush show and the other 8,000 people are there to hear the hits and nothing else. They don't care that it's the Clockwork Angels tour and that's the name of the new album. They couldn't give a damn about that in the least. No, they are not retards, in fact most classic rock bands only play a couple of new songs and the rest is all old stuff. So, it's not unreasonable for a lot of people to think that going to see Rush. Especially if you've never seen them before or haven't seen them in many years. Not everyone can make it to see a show every tour. It also doesn't help that Rush is force feeding everyone the new album. I like that they're playing as many songs off it as they are but doing all nine in a row is a bit much. They're no doubt losing the attention of a lot of people at the shows by doing this. They can still play those nine songs but they need to break them up and throw in a song or two everyone knows in between the new material. I really don't think most people mind that they're playing so many new songs, it's just more of the manner Rush went about doing it that's more bothering to some.
  13. QUOTE (av450 @ Sep 14 2012, 10:02 PM) If they don't want to know about the tour, they should stay out of the tour section Yup...because everyone knows that a spoiler will appear. It's just the way that it goes. If only everyone followed all rules at all times. Wouldn't that be fun kids?
  14. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Sep 14 2012, 12:11 PM) I don't believe people are being insensitive on purpose at all. They just get carried away talking about the tour and the thought of them spoiling something probably doesn't even cross their mind while typing. Of course it works both ways. If you want to avoid spoliers you probably should stay away from a bands message board while that tour is happening +1 This forum is like any other aspect of life.....full of warnings that are disregarded for one reason or another (accident or by design). As I have said over and over...it appears that expectations are a bit high for a free public forum. Poking a hand into a snake den increases the chances of being bit.
  15. I love it. I think the problem with their sets (if there is one) is the muddled 2nd set of back - to - back - to back (insert album here). IMO the shows (insert ANY band here) that "sprinkle" the new material amongst the "hits" "rarities" etc....work far better.
  16. Time Machine. Went from Pittsburgh to DC to see it back-to-back. Did not sleep for I was really stoked to see the show again. I saw CA in Pittsburgh now have a month wait to see them again in Buffalo. It was a great show, but I do not have that overwhelming desire to see it again. Know what I mean?
  17. Amy, It is a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 Probably the best lil point and shoot that I have ever owned. I love it for concerts because it is compact enough to fit in front pocket and powerful enough to get decent pics from anywhere. Glad you like the pics. I have to sort through about 143 that I took from the show.
  18. Just a few from the show: http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/578346_415577155157260_972306491_n.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/3682_415572611824381_1650179644_n.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/538923_415572061824436_2048153171_n.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/304442_415572008491108_839131216_n.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/546448_415572335157742_500015071_n.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/293078_415570931824549_16700236_n.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/262221_415571565157819_578837068_n.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Facebook/RUSH%20%20Clockwork%20Angels/400947_415571451824497_1704003190_n.jpg
  19. Thank you. Those were 10th row shots. Had front row this time around. Have to go teach an evening class but will post pics later.
  20. Yes....that is correct. I have a Sony cybershot (14x zoom) that takes really nice pics. I will post some later. It has a manual setting that works very well for concert pics. Here are 2 pics (of about 300 from 2 shows)I took from the last tour..... http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/Neil.jpg http://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc421/drgrendel2112/CTTH.jpg
  21. Will post a few from the Pittsburgh show tonight.
