  1. QUOTE (Jomboni @ Oct 1 2012, 10:28 PM) It's just under 2:30... down from 2:45 on Vapor Trails. I didn't go to the Test for Echo tour but I'm assuming it was about the same lenght. Are you guys really complaining that the set is 15 minutes shorter than it was over 15 years ago? Ok...I will go slower this time..... Not complaining...just pointing out the hype that surrounds this "Evening With RUSH." When it really comes down to it, how much of a greater value is it compared to bands who play for 2 hrs. and sell tickets for much less money? (I am not talking cheesey bands, but rather established bands who, in some cases, have been around longer than Rush) I have paid less, and have received more. I, for one, am not buying into the hype. That's all.
  2. I don't feel cheated at all. There is more hype than reality when you read"oh man they like play for 3 or 3.5 hours." Just pointing that out. I know...I know...reality sucks. Post whatever you want, but some of us see it for what it is.
  3. Alex must be wearing a rug for tour cos he sure looks like he's missing a ton of fur in that interview.
  4. to be honest, I think some folks around here embellish things a little. Do the math and you will see that they ain't doin' no 3 - 31/2 hr show with Geddy singing. On average the shows start at 7:45 and are done by 10:45. This has been a posted fact. So there is your 3 hours....drop the 3.5 hrs thing. Next, Factor in about another 1/2 hr for videos and the break between sets. We are down to 2.5 hours. Is it just me or are these Evenings With Rush getting shoerter and shorter by the tour? OOOOOOOPSIE....cannot forget the obligatory Drum Solos and the Instrumerntals....how long is Geddy singing a night now?
  5. Yes....but don't they space things out every tour? TM they did this and folks know the results of that. Did you watch dem Bills stink up national television? Somebody forgot to tell them that thae game lasts 60 minutes.
  6. the tour has just begun - lots of time for Geddy to lose his voice. Let us know how it sounds towards the end. Reminds me of the Pittsburgh Pirates of the last two baseball seasons....start off strong but poop out at the end. I suspect that this will happen to Geddy as well. Say what you want, but my opinion is valid....just ask me.
  7. After great deliberation, I have decided to sell my 3rd row tickets for the Buffalo show to a friend. Once is enough for me.
  8. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Sep 30 2012, 11:09 AM) I just read through this entire thread. It took awhile, and some of the name calling was pretty pathetic, but I got through it. Some thoughts: 1. People are entitled to their opinions, even unpopular ones. It's a shame that some people can't allow others to have theirs and instead have to be referred to as an asshole or not a real Rush fan or the worst kind of fan or a whiny little bitch just for having an unpopular one. If a person is disappointed by something Rush does and they want to vent about it, they're entitled. It's a Rush discussion board. 2. Everyone's opinions are valuable to them AND VALID, even if you disagree with said opinions. There is no right or wrong when it comes to opinions. Someone doesn't like the set list, they don't go. Someone doesn't care about the set list or they love it, they go. It doesn't make the person who doesn't want to go wrong or a bad person - they're entitled to not go for whatever reason they choose. 3. If you care enough to be disappointed by something the band has done or is doing, you're a real Rush fan - you might not be the happy go lucky rainbows and butterflies Rush can do no wrong kind of fan, but you're still a fan. 4. While I do understand that they're doing all they can to protect Geddy's voice (playing every other night, rotating harder songs every other show, etc.), I really do think it's a pretty weak set list. I love the new album, but they could have cut a couple of those songs out. AND, there are certain songs that IMHO just HAVE to be played that aren't - Limelight, Red Barchetta, Closer to the Heart, The Trees, Freewill - take a few of the synth era songs out (and I LOVE the synth era), replace them with those, and we would have had a set list. And you have to add in at least ONE epic - I don't even care which one - Xanadu, La Villa, NatSci, TCE, hell, even Jacob's Ladder will do. Then again, if he can't hit the notes on any of those songs, he just can't do it, but his voice isn't sounding great on the easier to sing songs either so... 5. As Geddy's voice continues to deteriorate live, it makes me think more and more they should have hung it up a few years ago, but then we wouldn't have the excellent Clockwork Angels, so it's a tough call. My solution? Make albums, stop touring. It's a shame, as their playing is top notch and better than ever, but the glaring elephant in the room problem of Geddy's voice live is simply not up to their standards of professionalism. See my first point if you disagree since I dare to have an unpopular opinion and am stating it, but call me an asshole if you must. 6. I'm not planning on seeing them this tour just due to life circumstances that won't allow it, but honestly, now that I've seen the set list, it takes a lot of the edge off of not being able to see them. I saw them plenty in the 80's, so I'm not missing out on all the 80's deep album cuts.
  9. By the very fact that this particular thread was created, the "trolls" have been fed. Brilliant...simply brilliant! Doah.....
  10. QUOTE (Tony R @ Oct 1 2012, 04:39 AM) Pompous dismissal of contrary views as "trolling" is just that, pompous. And childish. I have no idea how some of you tenderhearts survive in the "real" world.
  11. Yeah....now that is a show that appeases the masses! On other thing....The videos before, between, and after are getting old. More music could be played.
  12. QUOTE (default236 @ Sep 30 2012, 10:52 PM) QUOTE (FountainOfSyrinx @ Sep 30 2012, 08:51 PM) Economy + Weeknight Shows + School/Work weeks = many "casual" fans will not attend.. they don't give a rat's ass about the setlist before they go, and the set rarely affects ticket sales because the die-hards (like us) are the ones who choose to look at it beforehand, and most of the time, we already have bought our tickets. You've about summed it up there. I would agree with the post up to a point. They have played week nights before plus the economy has been bad for a long time. People are product driven - if the product is excellent people will find a way to pay for it. If the economy is so bad and people do not have money, why do folks have to wait so long at their favorite rest. to eat. People should be eating at home if they don't have the coin....right? CA is an excellent release, but apart from the rabid RUSH fanatic, who has been exposed to it? I have not heard one CA tune on the radio! Successful touring bands have understood that they must give the fans (rabid, casual, new) something they want to hear. RUSH is out supporting their latest release...I get that and respect that. IMO, I am not sure a concept album that has to have back-to-back-to-back songs played really bodes well in today's market. I will conclude by saying that I am confident that if RUSH would have included more of their concert "delights," conversations and posts on this Forum would not be as harsh.
  13. I really do not see attendance figures to be as strong for a 2nd leg as they may seem now. It is a great show as is, but, to be honest, it may not be strong enough to hit NA markets again next year. This is particularly true if they decide to hit venues within close proximity of the ones they hit the first time around. IMO, it may be better if they skipped a 2nd NA leg and put some thought into a nice R40 show. Or, take a little more time off and try again a few years down the road. It cannot be be too exciting to see all those black curtains hanging around the venues. I was saddened to see the lack of support at the Pittsburgh show. Buffalo should be better since it was neglected on the TM Tour. Lots of Cunucks from across the boarder should be there. Hit the places that have not seen you for some time...that is what they should do 2nd time around if they do it. Abscence makes the heart grow fonder.....
  14. QUOTE (Prattster @ Sep 30 2012, 07:50 PM) QUOTE (traeplien @ Sep 30 2012, 07:25 PM) So, if it were up to you guys, you would ban people with opposing opinions? Not very secure in your beliefs, eh? Maybe we should create a perfume scented forum where all members hold hands and sing kumbaya as they lick each others asses. Whoa - hyperbole alert! You seem to be painting "you guys" with a very broad brush stroke. I didn't say anything of the kind. There is a giant chasm between wantonly banning people who disagree with you and not encouraging people who are motivated by getting a rise out of other people. I am always amazed by brilliant people who can ascertain motive by just reading the written word.
  15. QUOTE (HalfwayToGone @ Sep 30 2012, 11:11 AM) I'm just seeing one. There was a time when I'd see two nights in a row or even three in a tour if they played that many shows in the Meadowlands and/or MSG. Time Machine I went to one show for each leg, because the prices are just getting too high for hitting lots of shows, especially when you start adding other bands into the concert attending schedule. Now that I am taking on a wife and her daughter, other concerts will be on the horizon. I took her to Iron Maiden and Rush, now it is my turn to enjoy the bands she likes.
  16. Two....but still on the fence regarding attending the second show. This is the first tour since CP Tour that my heart is really not into attending another one. Cannot explain it...
  17. QUOTE (shail @ Sep 27 2012, 01:49 PM) whiners. Rock show folks. Stop going to security and ushers and have them do your dirty work. If your a girl fine ask them. Just go up and start shit with the people that are disruptive. They ruin it for you ruin it for them. We did just that at a show recently. The stupid drunks wouldn't shut up. We were about to ruin their faces. At least my ex military friend was. He has a very bad temper when f*cked with. We have each others back. After 9 years in Afghanistan in search in rescue these tools at rock concerts are petty shit. got them to shut up pretty fast. show was a great time. Oh how I love Internet Muscles....lol
  18. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 27 2012, 01:40 PM) QUOTE (zac2112 @ Sep 27 2012, 12:30 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 27 2012, 12:19 PM) As long as they include South Florida! i was suprised they are playing Tampa and not WPB or Sunrise? The Florida shows always sell well, always meet people from all over including the UK here in Tampa. S.Fla must be on next years leg Well the opening show of the 2nd Leg of TTMT in Sunrise didn't sell that well. I think that the reason they bi-passed it this time. Maybe they felt they visited the area too much as of late. Regardless, I hope they come back for the 2nd leg of thid tour with a whole new revised setlist.
  19. I would go see the CA Tour a third time if the song selection was drastically changed. I have attended one show already with another one is on the docket. Still contemplating selling the Buffalo ticket to a good friend (3rd row).
  20. Not this time around.... Just about every tour leading up to this one I would see them mutliple times and crave to see them again. Not so hyped to see them next month and I really believe abscence makes the heart grow fonder...I guess I have seen too much of them over the past 32 years lol. Hope they do not come anywhere close to my location if they do a NA Tour Part II.
  21. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Sep 21 2012, 03:07 PM) QUOTE (drgrendel @ Sep 21 2012, 01:57 PM) QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Sep 21 2012, 02:54 PM) Ever wish you could go back in time? I was a relatively Rush noob at this show - my first show being RTB. I saw the CP tour 3 times, but never fully got into some of the older stuff until years later. I wish I could go back and see this again with the appreciation I have for it now. I would love to go back to the New World Tour, CP tour, and T4E. Those are my top 3 - no special ranking or ordering. I still loved the CA Tour as well....but it is not in my top 5 RUSH tours. Did you see any of those? My issue is I saw the CP tour - 3 times and I cannot pull this from my memory, because it was a song I really didn't know and it didn't stick. Hemispheres is one of my top songs now, and I would like to fix that issue with my brain if I could New World tour - Buffalo, NY CP tour - Pitts, Pa T4E - 2 shows in NJ So yes, I did see those shows.
