  1. QUOTE (King Whompus @ Jun 28 2011, 01:29 AM) Go listen to the solo in La Villa and you will have your answer. but then go listen to eruption or i'm on fire or bottoms up or hang 'em high... you could literally argue this one into the ground. both guys are icons. if i could jam with one of them, and hang out for a few hours? alex in a heartbeat.
  2. QUOTE (Ghostnotes @ Jun 26 2011, 08:37 AM)My son had his first gig last night and is now severely hooked on the rush of a live performance. Take into account he has only really been playing drums for a few weeks now , but none the less ...i am still a proud papa. It's a 30 minute set and I'm converting it to youtube as i write this.It says it will take about 5 hours to convert the full HD for youtube and i will post it up when it's done. A couple of originals and covers...... you're supposed to have a rotating drum riser under your drum kit(s)...
  3. wow. what camera did you use? very tasty pics there...
  4. 20?? really? that list is about 12 too many. plus: no les claypool? steve harris?? WTF? tone-wise theirs are unmistakable. no to mention their chops are stellar. it should be called: 8 best bass players tones and a bunch of other dudes that few really care about...
  5. grace is a fantastic album. i wish they'd put songs like subdivisions and a few others that seem to be in every set on the shelf and pull out kid gloves or another grace track...i love subdivsions and limelight, but i'd hope to get a few diff. songs in the next couple tours. between the wheels is one of my fav. songs. when they pulled it out on R30- i was in 7th heaven. body electric and the enemy within are gems that need to be played live...soon. i wonder how much of moving pictures they will play after this tour is over. tom sawyee and YYZ for sure. the rest?
  6. QUOTE (Kelly D @ Jun 18 2011, 09:53 AM)This is lifted mostly from my posts on rushisaband.com but I thought I'd post my story here, too. . . I got a front row ticket, Alex side, to the El Paso show. I made a sign saying it was my 23rd birthday (cos, well, it was) with caricatures of the Gershon's Haus of Sausage guys and me and hung it on the barrier for part of the show. . . Alex saw it during "The Spirit of Radio" and mouthed "Happy Birthday!" to me. I could've gone home ecstatic at that, but it got way, way better. . . Not only did Tony G. give my friend and me picks before the show, I had a conversation with John Arrowsmith (dapper chap that he is) and he took a pic of my sign for the Rush on the Road pics. My friend also got a roadie to give me a red Geddy pick. We had a blast in the front row- it was a truly special time, especially since the guys goofed during "The Spirit of Radio" and "Workin' Them Angels"! Al's roadie Kevin gave me a blue R30 pick saying "HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY" on the side of his signature during the beginning of "Tom Sawyer." He told me "He [Alex] did this during the break" and I gazed at it, shocked. No freakin' kidding! HOW DID HE KNOW MY NAME?! Shortly after that, I started crying, and Al started making fun of me from the stage (throwback to Cleveland, where I cried during "Closer to the Heart" and he made the same face at me). I pointed at him and jokingly told him to "shut up! Stop mocking me!" with a huge smile on my face. Michael Mosbach (Praetorian) also came up to me in the beginning of "Red Barchetta" and handed me a pair of Neil's used sticks They have the alchemy symbol for copper on them, they're scuffed up, and they're beautiful. Michael said something to me but I couldn't make out what he said. What happened next though was something I NEVER imagined could be: I accidentally took a picture with flash during "Caravan." I freaked out and then a few minutes later during Neil's solo Al's same roadie Kevin walked up to me and said "Come with me, and take your camera." I thought he was going to confiscate my camera! I asked "Am I in trouble?!" and Kevin said, "You are definitely not in trouble." What I saw, as we walked on the side of the stage, was Alex sitting listening to Neil's solo. He got up and I threw my arms around him and said "THANK YOU." As Kevin fiddled with the camera I said, "Ya know, I've always wanted to ask you something- 'do you like to party?'" - a stupid little aside from the Trailer Park Boys movie Countdown to Liquor Day. He laughed and we finally got the picture to work. I hugged him again (nice and sweaty) and said that I met him last year and that I am so thankful for him and a bunch of other coherent hooey. I also told him "Bubbles shoulda been your guitar tech for the Boston show" - alluding of course to the infamous "Still No Guitar" rant. . . he liked that, too After some more Alex snugs and more wishing of a happy birthday, I left and returned to my spot in front row. Here's the pic. We look so happy! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v283/dancingdays/random/IMG_0662.jpg And that's not all! During the beginning of "Closer to the Heart" I just rested my head on the barrier and cried a little bit because I was so flippin' happy. I pulled out my sign (with my hand-painted picture of the three Gershon's Haus characters and me) and when I caught Alex's eye, I pointed out that Slobovich and I were right next to each other, mirroring the picture we had taken minutes earlier. He grinned at me. During "2112: Overture" Geddy came over to our side of the stage and I pointed out Gershon on my sign to him and he made a face at me ;D Alex tossed me a Slobovich shirt and I wore it for the encore. It's the one that said "Books are for tourists"! Lots of grooving, lots of gaffes, and a general liveliness was there last night! Alex was goofing around, smelling his pits during "Tom Sawyer," waving at random people in the audience, and joking with the girls who stood with Darin and me in the front row. At the end, when they were waving goodbye to everyone, I blew Alex a kiss and he blew one back to me. Absolutely incredible!!! ok, i officially hate you kelly D.
  7. i love it. can't wait for all the -ing to begin. c'mon haters...tell us all how it's gotten so bad that geddy can't even read lines off of the teleprompter anymore and that they're not worth seeing live anymore...c'mon! like the emperor said: "the hate is swelling in you now"... about 3:40 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8d0ffaO0Ms he's just like you haters that emperor: evil, yet wrong in the end.
  8. QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Jun 17 2011, 07:50 AM) There's no way you can blame the band for this. You think that they have a say in how the sound in a arena is? Or that they are involved in the ticket presales? Thier job is to write and perform the music and nothing else. They can't help if the sound in the O2 arena is crappy that night just the same way that can't help if the sound is shitty when they play the arena in my town. If anything it's on the arena and Rush's soundboard guys for not fixing the problem. I seriously doubt that Rush is even aware that you sent an e-mail to Anthem. They are, after all, busy with a tour at the moment and more than likely aren't gonna deal with such petty complaints. They pay other people to do that. I'm not sure what you're looking to get out of this since you didn't make that clear. But there are some things you should just let go and move on from. This would be one of them

Aye it's cos they're all NOOBS! That and they don't finish reading the post first. He makes no mention of ending his Rush fandom or never seeing them live again. I forget who was it that penned the line "quick to judge, quick to anger, slow to understand" That line describes perfectly anyone who's attacking Earl for his decision. Well said my friend. Your post sums it all up for me. I will be a Rush fanatic until the end!!!!! and whine about s h it ad nauseam. then backtrack and whine about how true fans call your lame a$$ out...poser. He's not backtracking on anything. READ HIS FIRST POST!!!! He never says anything about not being a fan anymore or not seeing them on future tours. Honestly, you're not a regular enough poster around here to be starting shit with people. If that's the kind of attitude you're gonna bring then maybe you're better off not posting on TRF. well seeing as how i f**k girls and have other things to do than sit in moms basemnet and make over 2,000 posts in a years time like you, suck it. outdoors: try it! girls are NOT myths. they're out there if you go look.

  11. Moving Pictures has been the staple in my car rotation. i have a couple Rush mix tapes (really cd's, but tapes is so fun to say) with a wide spectrum of rush genres... but the one CD i have played over and over again for a few months is Moving Pictures. This whole time machine tour thing really got me back into it. can't wait for the cd/bluray relase of time machine so i can hear the whole moving pictures set live.
  12. QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jun 12 2011, 12:53 AM)To all of the Admins on here who have let me thread and post on here over the years I thank you! I am not a PC guy and I have stirred some shit, yet I have always tried to be different and creative at the end of the day. Especially in the Rush Section and the MOTS Section. Many months ago I was very excited about seeing Rush twice in L.A. again at the Gibson in Universal City. I took the entire family down there last year for the Time Machine Tour and it was fantastic. Well as most know they are playing two shows down there next week. I have decided to cancel my trip because I feel that Rush have become quite stagnant and tired. By playing the same old set list as they did a year ago is a total turn off to me. I refuse to spend thousands of dollars on this trip. I had four nights at The Sheraton in Universal City. I was going to hit Universal Studios, Knott's and a Dodger Tiger game in that "span of geological time." I've given Rush too much money over the decades to see the same set list again three times in a row down south. My girls are mad at me for cutting the trip out but it's not worth the cost or the memories. I will do the Concord show as it is in my backyard. I guess we all have to wait to see "Jacob's Ladder" on the "Clockwork Angels" Tour. Damn, will that record ever get made? Signed, "Time Stand Still" have fun at REO Speedwagon/Styx & Journey this summer. they change up sets all the time. if you think a band like Rush is gonna give you a personalized set list of your fav's, your delusional. we'd all love to hear different sets, but rush is rush they do what they do and we cannot change that. i've seen this tour 4 times- and if they were anywhere closer to me this summer, i'd be going more. BECAUSE I LOVE THE F UCK ING BAND AND THE BOYS AND THEIR MUSIC...ESCPECIALLY LIVE. they wanted to extend the time machine tour, so they did. you'd like them to do what exactly to finish the new album, so it coincides with your schedule???: go into the studio and record tracks right after a show like they did in the 70's?? when's the new album gonna be out master yoda says: patience... sorry that your not a fan anymore. but maybe you'll go away and i won't have to read any of your 11 year old witless posts.
  13. go to about 4:15 on this one, then SUCK IT...OP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEbepUTpE5Y&feature=related or try this one.. then suck it again...go get your ears and your lame-ass opinions checked by a professional... love, fanboy
  14. QUOTE (reani14 @ Jun 10 2011, 01:04 PM) Man, does geddy sound terrible on freewill, hope they touch his vocals up a bit before the dvd comes out.. Go ahead blast me. who cares. the fact is that geddy isnt good live vocally anymore . and this dvd will prove it unless they fix the bad spots.. facts are facts.. i thought we got rid of dumb-ass trollers when cosey toes was banned... what a moron
  15. great songs, but an admittedly thin sounding LP...(waits for little ones to ask "what is LP? ) it has been in my car CD player this week actually- i love it- alex's guitar tones are trendy- but a trend mostly set by him IMO. hears hypnotic part of Open Secrets... "i find no absolution in my rational point of view..." you know- right before the tasty guitar solo in that song?? i could go on brothas and sistahs...
  16. compare these 2 videos on both: 1. rush's performance of the song, and 2. how their sound/vibe as a band is different from the '96 to the '02 version. try to ignore the difference in video- one shows mostly ged (i know a few gals around here who will dig that ), and focus more on the sound. (picky eh?) 1996 2002 regardless, this is one bada$$ tune... innit?????
  17. QUOTE (phlaaps @ Jun 7 2011, 03:17 AM) QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ Jun 6 2011, 06:17 PM) Only after he crossed the line did we take his posting privileges away. I would like to know exactly what that line is. read the forum rules boss!
  18. QUOTE (Cosy Toes @ Jun 4 2011, 05:57 PM) QUOTE (Sir Lerxst @ Jun 4 2011, 10:25 PM) In mid 2010, he contracted an ear infection, which makes wearing In Ear Monitors incredibly painful Caused by dried Semen from Geddy and Alex trying to f**k some sense into him. Still wondering how you type your witless banter with cock and balls in your face and mouth. How DO you do it? Your comments are tired and you are the only one laughing. Put your mates cock down for a while and go play on a busy street, mk?
  19. QUOTE (Pags @ Jun 2 2011, 05:17 PM) To me, Caravan is a steller killer amazing kick ass rocked-up tune. Geddy sounds perfect on it, and the music is tops. Edgy, with chops and attitude. I love it. Let that carry forward on all of the CA songs, and we're sure to get our asses kicked with this record.
