  1. Looks like 'ol LW got Neil's resonant head tension a tad off and overly loose in the 3 'o clock and 9 'o clock area of his bass drum. I'm surprised to see an oversight like that. Nice pics though, thanks for sharing.
  2. I am glad to hear of the speedier tempos honestly. I was bummed a little at the slowed down versions of certain songs on the R30 and the first leg of the S&A tour. They took heed and seemed to remedy that on the second leg of the S&A tour and hopefully from here on out. Whenever I hear my favorite bands drag songs live, it just brings bad thoughts of them getting older and not being able to physically handle the original tempos anymore, especially from a drumming angle. The band should be a well oiled machine by the time I get to see them on 10/01/10
  3. QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 29 2010, 11:44 AM) I guess im used to the hat. Its his shirts that are even worse. How many members in popular, well respected bands wear their own shirts? Its really silly. Iron Maiden just love wearing their own stuff, ha ha.

  5. QUOTE (Alex @ Jun 29 2010, 12:14 PM) The theme for the Amps and Drums reminds me of a game called BioShock Circus Of Values!!!
  6. I don't understand the need for people on here to claim "I have ---- and i'll tell you/let you see it on ---- date" Other than an ego trip of making people think you have something that you don't. Why bother to even say anything without proof, it's ridiculous. Just keep quiet and wait until that date and then post your knowledge or photos.
  7. 1. Losing It 2. Grand Designs 3. War Paint 4. Kid Gloves 5. Cygnus X-1 Book ll (Hemispheres)
  8. QUOTE (treeduck @ Jun 5 2010, 06:40 PM) MY setlist, if you don't like it I reserve the right to banish you to another dimension and bind you, on a molecular and "soulular" level, to a hell planet of my choosing, trapping you there for life, beyond death and for all time! Far Cry Fly By Night By-Tor and the Snow Dog Bastille Day Cut to the Chase The Weapon Kid Gloves Caravan BU2B 2112 (entire) Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ Limelight The Camera Eye 11 Witch Hunt (Part III of Fear) Vital Signs (interval) Analog Kid Chain Lightning Armor and Sword A Farewell to Kings Xanadu Hemispheres (entire) Freewill Cinderella Man Jacob's Ladder Marathon Ceiling Unlimited Turn the Page The Spirit of Radio Cinderella Man A Passage to Bangkok NB: This list consists of songs we know they are going to play, of songs that will be expected realistically to be played and the rest are my own personal choices... Not too shabby. My guess is that you really like Cinderella Man, huh?
  9. Neil must have shrunk considerably since the last tour. That hat shown is only 3 inches tall in real life with the biggest round piece in the front only being around an inch in diameter. Guess we will definitely need the screens on each side of the stage to see this thing on his head
  10. QUOTE (snowdog2112 @ May 23 2010, 07:53 PM)QUOTE I'm Still going with 2112/Overture! This would be a great start! Followed by Freewill! I don't understand why anyone would be excited to hear stuff like 2112 or Xanadu at 7:00 in bright daylight while a third of the crowd is still trying to find their seats. That would royally suck. Although I much preferred when they played indoors, even the outdoor shows would be a lot better if they started an hour or so later. Most people don't get home until midnight anyway, what difference would it make to be another hour later? I just think having a huge part of the show (most of the first set) in daylight really detracts from the energy of the whole thing. It feels less like an intense musical event and more like some July 4th concert at the park. I sure am glad I got to see them indoors in 2008 again in Austin. I completely understand that things have changed but it's just not as exciting as when the lights would go totally dark indoors right as the show started and it was generally much louder in most cases too. Oh well, I'm just getting old. Couldn't agree more. We normally get Rush in Florida around June/July when they tour. The sun is still high in the sky and blazing until midway through the set. This year we get them during the fall in October. Since the show is close to Daylight Savings in which is in November, i'm hoping for a much better show atmosphere wise.
  11. Here is a little more info. In keeping with the "SteamPunk" theme that Neil's kit will have, here are a couple of pics of the new drum key that was custom made for Lorne Wheaton (Neil's drum tech) for this tour. I'm guessing the kit is going to look rather unique based on the tidbits of info I previously posted and now seeing this "themed" drum key. http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-sjc1/hs571.snc3/31182_1350272519191_1302704245_30987092_4975332_n.jpg http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs591.snc3/31182_1350281039404_1302704245_30987107_7032717_n.jpg

QUOTE (syd11 @ May 11 2010, 02:14 PM) QUOTE (PermanentDave's @ May 10 2010, 06:12 PM) A member over at a drum forum I frequent that has been privy to seeing Neil's new kit and some of the songs that will be played, has stated over on that forum that Marathon will be making a return to the setlist. I like Marathon a lot, but like Grand Designs, Emotion Detector, Middletown Dreams, and Territories a little better. Wow.....anything else you can share about the setlist? I wish I could. He simply is not giving up any details outside of what I posted. Everyone has tried everything to get him to talk, but I think it's a case of if you get privileged information and then blab it all over the place then you probably won't get that kind of info in the future.

  14. 1. Losing It (looks like this song is shaping up to be the fans' new "The Camera Eye") 2. Emotion Detector 3. Available Light 4. Heresy 5. Tai Shan
  15. QUOTE (Score Out @ Apr 22 2010, 12:46 AM)For clarification, "hit" = HIT! ie - a song non-Rush fans know, a radio song, a concert staple. Meaning fewer than 10 of those in their catalog. Not One Little Victory, Time Stand Still or Roll The Bones type songs. After mulling over this topic for awhile and based on the info given by Score Out , it would appear to me that the only real "hit" that non Rush fans would know would have to be Tom Sawyer. I would think like most, that they would possibly save Moving Pictures for the 2nd set, but it also doesn't seem out of the question for me to believe that they would tear right into the MP album straight away. I mean after all, it is what they are promoting most about this tour and would be one hell of a way to kick off the show.
  16. I've recieved a little info from an industry insider on this topic from another drum forum, and although everyone is being pretty tight lipped on the subject, I have managed to find out a couple of small details in that Neil's kit for this tour will be very close to his post-Gruber setup. It will be a steampunk inspired kit with copper hardware, "different and unique, but not too far over the top". Wish I knew more, but I figured i'd chime in with the little bit of info I know.
