Looks like 'ol LW got Neil's resonant head tension a tad off and overly loose in the 3 'o clock and 9 'o clock area of his bass drum. I'm surprised to see an oversight like that. Nice pics though, thanks for sharing.

I am glad to hear of the speedier tempos honestly. I was bummed a little at the slowed down versions of certain songs on the R30 and the first leg of the S&A tour. They took heed and seemed to remedy that on the second leg of the S&A tour and hopefully from here on out. Whenever I hear my favorite bands drag songs live, it just brings bad thoughts of them getting older and not being able to physically handle the original tempos anymore, especially from a drumming angle. The band should be a well oiled machine by the time I get to see them on 10/01/10

Neil must have shrunk considerably since the last tour. That hat shown is only 3 inches tall in real life with the biggest round piece in the front only being around an inch in diameter. Guess we will definitely need the screens on each side of the stage to see this thing on his head

Here is a little more info. In keeping with the "SteamPunk" theme that Neil's kit will have, here are a couple of pics of the new drum key that was custom made for Lorne Wheaton (Neil's drum tech) for this tour. A member over at a drum forum I frequent that has been privy to seeing Neil's new kit and some of the songs that will be played, has stated over on that forum that Marathon will be making a return to the setlist. I like Marathon a lot, but like Grand Designs, Emotion Detector, Middletown Dreams, and Territories a little better.

I've recieved a little info from an industry insider on this topic from another drum forum, and although everyone is being pretty tight lipped on the subject, I have managed to find out a couple of small details in that Neil's kit for this tour will be very close to his post-Gruber setup. It will be a steampunk inspired kit with copper hardware, "different and unique, but not too far over the top". Wish I knew more, but I figured i'd chime in with the little bit of info I know.
