  1. I wonder what Geddy's different bass count is per 3 set rotation It must be close to 12 guitars. Eagle....I assuming you have a fairly precise estimate on that. Geddy must being having a blast switching basses.
  2. I believe their going to make a couple bucks this tour, despite all the chatter about vocal deterioration, arthritis and tendonitis... The ticket sales and reviews would suggest that they are not broken yet. And you know what they say...'If it's not broken, don't fix it' Which leaves us with... Living with it and loving it until it's gone. Rush will someday be long gone...but always worth something.
  3. For the most part, they do have his vocals running through effects for CA. I'm sure that's why. I started noticing it more on Snakes & Arrows here and there, but on CA it's most of them. I just listened to CA the other day and that is what I noticed. The older albums, his voice is sharp and clear. Not so now. It's muted and seems to blend with the music instead of rise above it. Yes exactly. They do that on purpose to hide some of it. I have no problem with electronic vocal augmentation as an aide or enhancement, it's very prevalent in today's music. Rush runs their guitars, keys and percussion through a variety of electronic devices to aide in tuning and enhance the sound. So why not the vocals too? Progressive music has no rules. The main reason is because what they're doing is not enhancing it but just altering it so it's hiding the vocal imperfections. I have no trouble with them fixing the vocal issues but muffling it to the point where it becomes difficult to make out words is just not a good choice to make. When I sing I wish I had a device to hide, alter, enhance or fix my vocal imperfections. I do understand your point about muffling the vocals to a point of a mis-mushed innunciation sound. I'm not sure there is a machine that can fix vocals...except a time machine. Oh how thirty years ago the words would flow with passion and percision...
  4. I believe Geddy's small blunder was an honest mistake brought on by several factors....excitement, speaking in front of thousands of people, being over 60 yrs old and losing a few brains cells in both his youth and in the dressing room prior to the show.

  6. While some of his live vocals on recent tours have been a bit cringe worthy... I think most of his studio vocals on Clockwork Angels are both powerful and beautiful.
  7. The desire to see The Camera Eye live is and should be a powerful desire. The Camera Eye is in my Top Ten Rush songs...as well as my Top Ten songs. Natural Science is on both Top Ten lists also. If you could get both in one set...pure joy. We probably got that on the MP Tour, can't recall or confirm that.
  8. Thanks for your input.... Just kidding...It's basically the same stance I'm taking. It's a difficult choice even as either choice can be made personally valid. I get to see the last two shows and whatever I get will be extremely personally satisfyingly for varying reasons.
  9. 30 years from now those items could draw a lot of money from a vintage rock & roll memorabilia collector... If you have the money, probably a sound investment.
  10. How does one obsessed Rush fan, yours truly, appease his lovely girlfriend...who has shown patience with my " I gotta see if there's a great periscope feed tonight "... for the 8th time. She wants to start watching the American Horror Story 4th Season.... with me . She has even played the sex card, both sides..." I'll give you...I won't give you...." Not to mentioned her desire to just have a normal evening, without the freaky Rush Boy (yours truly) running around the house saying, " It's going to start soon...Yipee! Hooray!..." The every other night thing hasn't seemed to work.... I love my girlfriend....I like when she cooks a wonderful dinner...I like when she's happy... I don't like sleeping on the couch... So...I guess I won't be checking in tonight...
  11. Yes, if you have never seen a certain song live before, it may/should sway your vote. I, of course, have never seen How It Is before....and I love Between The Wheels....so it is tempting to want to add to my 'Rush songs I've seen live' list with a C set vote. With Natural Science thrown in the mix...It would seem an easy choice, if you only had one choice. If you factor in a fan's past live songs seen and their personal favorite preferences...Maybe the choice is a bit harder for some.
  12. I have been fortunate enough to see most all these songs live several times... For me it becomes more a question of not what I want to see most, but what do I want to see, most probably, one last time. When I look at it this way...Between The Wheels and Red Barchetta stand out.
  13. You get DEW in set A & C....so you would prefer Red Barchetta over both Natural Science and YYZ ?....Interesting, and a choice I am also struggling with.
  14. I think most would agree. I would give up YYZ for Red Barchetta or The Camera Eye easily. But Natural Science is so epic.
  15. You get Jacob's Ladder in all three sets. With a Natural Science choice you get YYZ....but lose the other options with Set A & B... The Wreckers. How It Is, Between The Wheels, Red Barchetta , The Camera Eye
  16. So after a few rotations it appears there are, at least for now, three sets: A: with CA, OLV, DEW, RB B: with TW, HII, BTW, TCE C: with CA, OLV, DEW, YYZ, NS Even with the bonus song in set C, it doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite set. What is your favorite setlist?
  17. The B set... Between the Wheels and The Camera Eye....Yea!!! The Wreckers and How It Is.....Not so yea. My personal 4 slot rotation list would be... Clockwork Angels, One Little Victory, Between The Wheels, Red Barchetta (not in a current set) Set C... with Natural Science....CA,OLV,DEW,YYZ...seems to be the most coveted. I'm surprised there hasn't been a 'Favorite Set Poll' yet.
  18. When you're a fan of "jam bands" you get used to stuff like that, and aren't so anal about a band "stretching it".... One of the best attributes of Rush is their high level of musicianship and how their live performances are so close to the studio's perceived perfection. As a musician myself, perfection is a very rare thing, even in the studio and especially on tour. I like when I hear a slightly different solo or even a small mistake...it makes the show unique and reminds us of our Rush God's mortality.
  19. Playing it a bit different than the studio track is awesome... It's called live music...
  20. With a catalogue that's always growing and with the 10+ 'must play' classics forced into rotations....it must be hard to please themselves with a setlist let alone the fans. If you combine the setlists of R-30, S&A, TM, CA and R-40...I think they done and awesome job of spreading the love... I've been fortunate enough to see every tour since Hemispheres...There might not be another band who has played as many different songs live through a similar time span as Rush.
  21. A very enlightening interview. Alex and Geddy will always move forward musically. It appears a new album with no touring, or very limited, is basically confirmed. With these quotes...."But let’s just say that at this point that Neil’s made it clear that he’s good with this US tour being the last group of dates."..."I think that’s really important in Neil’s case. But when you’ve only got so much time to play with it’s tough... " ...it has reinforced, that sadly, the August 1st show in Los Angeles will most likely be there last live performance. With the likelihood of a new album in the future, Rush will continue to exist and evolve.
  22. The problem with your plan is that people would just record the stream via a capture software and then upload it to torrent sites. so people won't have to even see the live show, they'll just wait for someone to record said stream and then download it later. You are missing the point. It would be a service offered to people who WANT to see the event live and WANT to discuss the event as it unfolds live... Exactly what we have been doing here but at a much higher quality. An example would be..." Hey Joe, I am going to buy the live stream for the 2nd show in Toronto tomorrow night, I'ts only $12.95. I'll start up a chat room called By-Tor, hope to see you there. If it gets crowded we can start up a different room." " Sounds great, I really wanted to go to that show but can't." " Cool, I'll be bumping around different chat rooms...do a search for me once you get connected" You get an awesome real time live experience...similar to what we have experienced on this forum...but un-interupted and at a higher quality. And access to all the various chat rooms...big or small...open or private.
  23. I wonder how long it will take (maybe it's already happening) for bands and/or the industry to offer live pay per view concerts on a pc format with a variety of forum/chat options. There appears to be a market for customers to view multiple shows....as long as they can discuss and enjoy it with other fans. You would purchase a high quality live stream for a show and then connect to or start up a chat room to discuss the performance. There could be a variety of rooms, from general discussion to specific band member or instruments. Tech talk rooms and A/V rooms with real time discussions. I would have purchased a high quality live stream for opening night. What if, for say $19.95, you could purchase a high quality and legal stream of a Toronto show...and then start up a chat room, invite friends and watch and discuss the show. I realize that is what we are currently doing, but if it was at a higher quality there could be huge $ generated.
