  1. QUOTE (1-0-0-1-0-0-1 @ May 24 2010, 10:24 PM) You say "DO and don't," and I say "Do AND don't." Meaning since one of those two poll choices is "don't," then this thread is ALSO for the people who don't want to know the setlist. Right? Time Machine is indeed a spoiler forum, and as we've stated a few times, you come in there at your own risk. Pags explained why he thought it was safe to enter this particular thread, and he (possibly) got burned (IF the aforementioned songs are indeed in the setlist). Hemispheres89 made an honest mistake, he apologized, and it's all good. Everyone here should check out the pinned thread atop this forum about how to post spoilers. One of the posts in there says this: Be careful about posting spoilers in threads that weren't started as spoiler threads, or are not marked as containing spoilers. If you want to post a spoiler, either start a new properly marked spoiler thread or look for an existing thread that fits your topic that is already marked "SPOILER". Got it.
  2. QUOTE (upstateNYfan @ May 25 2010, 02:24 PM) Hello, It's all about commercial appeal and marketing. Records sold are one of a hundred ways to measure this, and it ties into their fee. Make no mistake: these fees are negotiated long in advance. Needless to say, they are two totally different types of bands. Who sells more beer? Bud or Dogfish Head? I am not an Aerosmith fan. And Rush fans should acknowledge how Aerosmith shit on them in '70's. As far as "no band is worth that much..." Wise up. Tell that to the thousands of rednecks who will be there. There's always the "Walk This Way" video on tv... Cheers! I don't like the fact they shit on Rush....but they do have some great good old fashioned rock n roll. Anywhoo.....it's all about Rush round these parts. And hell yes to getting a whopping 450K to jam...gotta love that.
  3. QUOTE (GotRush @ May 25 2010, 01:03 PM) QUOTE (Todem @ May 25 2010, 09:51 AM)Ummmm talking about Rush here.....and on that note...Aerosmith puts on one hell of a live show...all energy and they also jam their ass's off be it not 3 hours....I believe you make as much as you can while the getting is good...who the hell are we to judge anyone in America on what they make...free country bro. We all try to earn what we can. At least I know I work my ass off and try to make as much as I can as well in an honest manner. And there is nothing more honest than playing great music for your fans....it does not get any more honest than that. Whether someone thinks a band has sucked since 1980 or not...it is quite obvious if Aerosmith can command a 1MM payday...they are doing something right. I don't think RUSH is going to do there typical 3 hour show @ the State Fair Gig..... Just cause Aerosmith can & get 1m for similar show doesn't mean they are doing anything right, just means they have kissed tons of ass to get universaly popular, they learned this trick during the late 80's & mtv era. ??? How much are tickets for this show ??? ??? Here @ the state fair it's $ 12 .00 dollars & you get GA into the venue They have about 1/3 reserved for like 20.00 extra But RUSH isn't playing the Fair here . . . . . Kissed ton's of ass? Ok then. I thought it was them selling millions of records...whether you like their music or not they have written a lot of hit songs since 1980 and have enjoyed their biggest commercial success in the late 80's and early 90's which has carried them this far. I love their older material but some of the stuff starting with Permanent Vacation was pretty damm good. They have also written some total garbage....but every band has had some bad moments. Again...they must be a draw to command that kind of money.

QUOTE (metaldad @ May 24 2010, 08:12 PM) QUOTE (Todem @ May 24 2010, 06:45 PM) They have toured their ass off for over 35 Years....good for them...g-d bless them....we all would love to be paid like that to jam for 3 hours. When is the last time Aeroshit did a Jam For 3 Hours ? They have sucked since 1980....imo Ummmm talking about Rush here.....and on that note...Aerosmith puts on one hell of a live show...all energy and they also jam their ass's off be it not 3 hours....I believe you make as much as you can while the getting is good...who the hell are we to judge anyone in America on what they make...free country bro. However if it really is the setlist.....wow. And I am spoiled because I looked....thinking...it has to be BS. Half of it may be dead on...a lot of realistic choices. But really....who knows right? I will be thrilled with whatever they play. It's all good. Yes, but there are several people who have included setlist claiming to have inside information. What I'm confused about is.. which setlist is this poster referring to? Is it from the thread of "Nobody's Hero"? This is a setlist that I believe, and quite frankly, if it's true... i'm TOTALLY EXCITED! However, the encore seems a bit fuzzy to me. I highly doubt they'd play In The Mood or FLy By Night. Neither has the pizazz to be an outro to a concert. Just my opinion Well who needs to peek at the setlist with you around??? Thanks, jerk. Pags, With all due respect....The Time Machine section on the main page has a disclaimer that this entire section is a spolier section enter at your own risk. So how can Hemispheres post be construed as a spolier when the post is in a thread in the so called spoiler section? Your a moderator...so please explain.

  8. I have only looked once and that was for R-30.....wish I never did it. The joy of leg one of Snakes and Arrows...the amazing excitment of the T4E tour...I will not look. and I have the last 2 shows of the Time Machine tour....I can do it...I will do it. It will be the best set-list since the MP tour...I can feel it in my bones.
  9. QUOTE (Rush! @ May 14 2010, 02:13 PM) I'd love to hear Ceiling Unlimited, The Stars Look Down, Vapor Trail, and Freeze. But most of all would be Nocturne. Just a totally powerful song. That would be my second choice. Killer track.
  10. The brilliance of Freeze is buried in that disgusting wall of crap they called a mix. If the song were mixed and mastered properly....it would be one of the legendary classic Rush songs.....the chorus on that tune is amazing...a very classic sounding Rush tune....but we all know how bad this record is sonically. Back to the subject......I would love to hear all the songs in the epic "Fear" series....and it does not have to be in order. It's not like they flow into one another....they are very different songs. Witch Hunt Enemy Within The Weapon Freeze That's my rank. And yes to the Fear epic.
  11. Sorry but one has been left out...and needs to be ranked as well. Hemispheres 2112 Xanadu Jacobs Ladder Natural Science La Villa Strangiato Cygnus X-1 By Tor & the Snow Dog The Camera Eye The Necromancer The Fountain of Lamneth
  12. I would love to jam with them on stage....a dream come true no doubt. And the song would be The Spirit of Radio. To jam that tune with them while the crowd goes insane...and getting to see and feel the power and energy of the crowd duing the "concert hall" part.... Priceless.
  13. Very very close between DS and ESL. Went with ESL....they have never sounded better or played better than this peroid. everything was clicking to a tee and they were absolute perfectionist's during this peroid. And they had limted technology during this time as comapred to today. I like the open space organic sound plus Neils use of real wood blocks, chimes, timbles, gongs, bells, Cow bells etc....not to be matched....oh and these songs in particular are just the definte versions for me: Passage to Bangkok Beneath, Between, Behind Jacobs Ladder Broons Bane/The Trees/ Xanadu suite - the best live Rush recording ever. La Villa Strangiato - this inspired me to truly pursue writing my own music and finding my own style and sound as a guitarist.
  14. Over the last 27 or so years it has flip flopped back and forth between Hemispheres and Permanent Waves. Finally over the last 2 years it has become clear that my #1 all time favorite Rush album is Permanent Waves. Soncially perfect. And it has the perfect balance of Prog and Rock with a pop sensibility. TSOR and Freewill can both easily qualify as the greatest Rush songs ever written. Natural Science and Jacobs Ladder are the best Epic songs they have ever written IMO. Different Strings - short and oh so sweet this is one of the best production songs they have ever recorded. It is haunting and beautiful. Entre Nous - what a vastly underrated Rush song and it sounded amazing on the 2007 leg...they should play it again this time out! Waves was so ahead of it's time in 1979/1980. And to this day stands as one of the best Rock albums ever recorded.
  15. QUOTE (Todem @ May 10 2010, 01:54 PM) From this list here would be my top five in order: Vaportrail Cut to the Chase Available Light Totem Nocturne That last one was tough because I wanted Open Secrets too....but Nocturne would rock live! I just noticed.....all my picks were post 1987......but as far as not being performed live yet...I felt those were all really great songs to hear live.
  16. We will be at the Sunrise show Saturday night (sold out and they added a second show already which will also sell out no doubt). We got Floor tickets through the Fan pre-sale (We were selected and they provided a link to purchase 2 tickets on the floor and will call pick up )....we will know in 6-8 weeks where they are...they can be anywhere from front row to 35th row. So a great pair of seats. Face value was $202 a ticket. My wife has never seen any form of Floyd live and she really beat herself up missing the DSOTM tour in 2007. I don't think she will get another chance so I told her..."yeah it is a steep price but we only live once and it;s only $$$ we will make some more LOL". It is going to be a great tour. I went to the last Roger Waters tour and the band was fantastic. yeah it's not Gilmore...and I have seen Pink Floyd twice (87, 94). Gilmore shunned South Florida on his last solo tour....and I don't expect to see him ever again. It would be great if they could just put aside their personal differences for the fans but it will never happen.
  17. I am very excited to hear that DT's next tour will be An Evening With....So much stuff to play. Last 2 tours have been the Progressive Nation gig...and the set's were amazing...but too short. I am ready for 3 hours of DT.
  18. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ May 10 2010, 03:07 PM) I'd like to see Xanadu again, but this time they need to play it with the whole intro. That's like the best part! I agree....but I will take the R-30 version over nothing. It would be awesome if they did the The Trees/Xanadu suite like ESL again (forget Broons Bane, it will never be heard again). Here is to wishful thinking. As far as Jacobs Ladder....I listened to it this morning taking my son to school. I can hear where they will make the cut...and it will be on the bridge (all at once the clouds are parting) they will go right into the words after one measure of music and then go into the outro music. That part is great in the studio and of course sounded good live on ESL but they will chop that...other than that I can't see why they would need to chop anything else...the song is not that long if you shave 30-45 seconds right there.
  19. Ok...I am sorry...but I am as hardcore as they come...but there are a few songs....Rush should never ever play live....ever. Rivendell I Think I'm Going Bald Madrigal Anagram (for Mongo) Sorry....to those that adore these major slips in Rush's amazing catalog..but the horror if any of these were ever played. LOL!
  20. QUOTE (roadqueen @ May 10 2010, 02:33 PM) I've been knocked over, had my hair caught on fire, punched in the face, elbowed in the face, elbowed in the chest, hit in the back, had beer poured all over me just to name a few things that happened in the first 10 rows of reserved seats. Where ever adults are drinking, and I know I'll be drinking So I wouldn't risk my child. I've also gotten a contact high from being in the room with so much weed smoked around me but these days it's usually no smoking so that's not as much a problem as it used to be. Too bad. LOL Wow.....I have not seen those types of things at a Rush show....since maybe the Grace Under Pressure tour. Very tame crowds for the most part in South Florida for Rush in that regard....high energy in standing up and singing etc...but violence not too much I have seen. Of course there was the tear gas show down here back during Signals.
  21. From this list here would be my top five in order: Vaportrail Cut to the Chase Available Light Totem Nocturne That last one was tough because I wanted Open Secrets too....but Nocturne would rock live!
  22. QUOTE (syd11 @ May 10 2010, 01:38 PM) I'm ok with them shortening the song slightly. I did get to see it twice on the MP tour and think they can pull it off without wrecking the integrity of the song. I personally find Jacob's Ladder a little long in the middle also but am glad they're playing it. I do believe because of Camera Eye & JL being played that it won't leave room for any of the other longer songs they've played such as Xanadu, Natural Science, Working Man or Bytor unless they are also abbreviated. I would not be shocked to see Xanadu again like they perfromed it on R-30....I'll take it!
