  1. Rush - Exit Stage Left (live) Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti Porcupine Tree - Ansthetize (Iive)
  2. Can't stand that remaster of Ten. That more slick production is what actually made that debut sound so magical vs everything after. Was a brilliant production from a sonic and studio stand point and made them sound like an arena band. Then they went to that Brendon O Brian dry sound....which is cool...but took away their balls and also brought out the sloppiness in their playing vs being more concise and razor sharp on the debut. Ten has such a vibrant sound and it is not for everyone......but man did it leap frog them into stardom and they shit on it with that dry remaster. And they never wrote songs like those on Ten again. Just my opinion. I had thoughts of the next Led Zeppelin after wearing out Ten on cassette in my car that summer of 91. Then Vs came out.....and while a good album I knew it was not going to happen. They did not embrace being arena rock stars. They wanted to be Neil Young. And yes they have a very loyal following and have their audience much like Rush. But I hopped off the ride after the Binaural tour.....that album was pure shit. The show stunk too. I actually walked out on the Binaural tour. Was just awful. Totally unprofessional. Standing around for 3 minutes between songs asking what do we want to play next. Just terrible. Turned me off.
  3. Black Crowes as far as the band Ten as far as the debut Southern Harmony for the follow up (smokes Vs). Ten was one of the very best debut albums in rock history imo. They never came close to that “magic” ever again. The Crowes are an awesome live band and also have oodles of better material for the years to follow. Pearl Jam for me faded fast. They went in a direction I really did not care for after Yield. And also Vitalogy and No Code were far better as live material.
  4. Damn......how about 4? Permanent Waves Hemispheres Moving Pictures
  5. I am out on this one. It is simply not my taste, style and it does nothing for me. I always applaud Seven for being bold, taking risks, etc. That is what Progressive Rock is in essence. But this was a huge swing and miss for me. It happens to the best of them.
  6. I think his new album is complete nonsense. I love Porcupine Tree and I loved The Raven That Refused To Sing and Hand Cannot Erase. All his other solo stuff has been mediocre at best. To The Bone was solid but not up to par with the previous two releases which were simply divine. He is becoming way too grumpy and taking himself way too seriously now. And does not like the guitar anymore? Ok Steven.....loved your output with PT and some solo stuff.....but time for me to move on from ya. Enjoy the ride into the style you are embracing now. Not my cup of tea.
  7. In 2000 to Nissan for the New Maxima they had Tom Sawyer and to be honest......bad ass car commercial and the song was perfect for it. Seriously.....who gives a shit. It is their song, their art....they can do whatever they want with it. Everyone needs to earn a living. People need to get a life.
  8. Yeah they mailed it in. Dreamline Bravado Roll The Bones Wheres My Thing Ghost of a Chance 5 insanely great Rush songs...beloved by most in Rush circles......they sure mailed it in writing those turds.
  9. How exactly is this selling out? It’s not. It’s just a corky sense of humor. Whether someone thinks it’s funny or not, I’m not seeing how it’s selling out. Was it selling out when they used the Three Stooges theme music 40 years ago? Was it selling out when Count Floyd intro’d The Weapon? Rush had always had that dorky, fun-loving sense of humor. You're right it's not selling out, it's jumping the shark. New thread. Do you think Count Floyd was jumping the shark? The Stooges theme music? Or did the washing machines or chicken rotisserie jump the shark? I guess jumping the shark is when a creative act does too much of something. The dorky humor was ok in small doses when Rush were in their prime, but overdid it in the latter years, in my view. Still a fan! As you get older.....and I do not know your age.....you get more more into the frame of mind that you simply do not give a shit about what anyone thinks. Period. So do what you want. And who cares.....if it is not “cool”.
  10. Rush selling out musically might be the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen posted. Hilarious.
  11. Exactly! It's just a recording studio. Why do some fans feel the need to make a pilgrimage (if that's the correct word) to this place, I'll never know. I’m not really feeling great loss but I understand it. There’s a sense of history connected to it. And history is important to many. Simple as that. But what makes it more special and historical to fans than any other studio where a classic album was recorded? I get why the bands would have a special connection to the studios they've recorded in but I don't understand why the fans would since the majority of them have never been there. Exactly. I can understand the fan thing. But from musician’s point of few...these are churches.
  12. Every room is different and unique. Rebuilding a studio (for example rebuilding Le Studio).....does not mean the vibe and sounds you were able to get in that “room” will be the same. Every studio is one of a kind. And some get famous because of how unique the sound and vibe is and therefore some pretty amazing albums come out of a certain studios. I recorded a 5 song EP back in 1992 with my band in the same room Hotel California and several other famous records were recorded in. I can’t tell you how unique and amazing that experience was. If your a musician you understand this......if your not...then you get comments like yours above.
  13. In the “Beautiful” category I would put: Ghost of a Chance The Garden Emotion Detector Second Nature Mission Entre Nous Tears Resist Available Light And minor keys are beautiful too. There is beauty in heartbreak. As crazy as that may sound.
  14. Dialing up Bangin' on Spotify now. Let me know how you like it. I thought that album was a lot better than Play Deep.
  15. Finish What Ya Started Take Your Whisky Home
  16. I loved their second album the best. Bangin. Not a weak track on it. But it did not do nearly as good as Play Deep. I saw them live once. They opened for Night Ranger in 1987. They were very good live as well. I know Spinks passed away several years ago. Sad to see this news. 62 is far too young.
  17. Fair Warning Van Halen I 1984 Van Halen II 5150 Diver Down For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Women and Children First OU812 A Different Kind Of Truth Balance Van Halen III
  18. Ironically Feeling and Take Me Back are so strong. Maybe two of my top 10 Hagar era VH tunes. I love those two songs.
  19. Great interview. Loved the answer he gave to the “What would Rush do” question. So true. Same for Maiden.
  20. Cooll topic and a tough one for me. Rush - Working Man Fly By Night - Anthem Caress Of Steel - No One At The Bridge 2112 - Soliloquy A Farewell To Kings - Xanandu Hemispheres - La Villa Stragiato Permanent Waves - Freewill Moving Pictures - Limelight Signals - Digital Man Grace Under Pressure - Red Sector A Power Windows - Marathon Hold Your Fire - Mission (The outro is that epic and timeless) Presto - Presto/Available Light tie Roll The Bones - Bravado/Ghost of A Chance tie Counterparts - Animate Test For Echo - Test For Echo Vapor Trails - Vaportrails Snakes And Arrows - Faithless Clockwork Angels - Headlong Flight/The Garden tie I could have had other ties on all the albums......but I have my #1’s for most records but on the post 80’s records (even though Presto is in 89 it is where the conundrum starts) the tie tunes were too close to separate.
  21. Been a fan since 1981 (11 years old). Never ever broke up with them......Love them dearly as I type this. I can list dozens of bands I have broken up with. Rush is not nor will ever be one of them. Ever.
