  1. QUOTE (fool4rush @ Aug 20 2010, 09:11 AM) ...Are you kidding me? it happened so fast that I was then left standing out side alone w/ no purse, no id, no renta car keys, no plane tix home...WTF It never would have happened if I had some big beefy dude w/ me. Did you get your rental-car-keys/purse/plane tix back? If you did, How? Were you there alone or with someone else who saw all of this happen? Were you drunk? Yeah, I know that there are lots of people drunk at concerts, but inebriated folks are far more likely to do something worthy of being tossed - and not remembering it later when they sober up. You remember being tossed obviously because that's pretty traumatic/stressful. It's hard to believe your story 100% since there are lots of little details missing. It would just seem strange that this one security guy singled you out for no apparent reason. If they'd been doing it to lots of different fans at that show, we've have heard about it probably. I understand security is different people at each show, and all I can speak about is my own experience at the venues I've been at. You very well might have encountered one of those 'bad apples' and if what you say is accurate and true, you really should pursue it to the full extent of the law. I know I sure would if someone did that to me or my wife. Good luck to you! -Tim
  2. Aye - BIG Kudos to the band and their management for this one. Very, very generous of them and EXTREMELY appreciated!! -Tim
  3. I think it's also the best Rush show I've been to, and I've been to a fair number since RTB. Everything you said was spot-on - Alex DESTROYED the second half of "Working Man" (in an awesome way of course), and Geddy tore up "Leave That Thing Alone", and the whole show felt sharp and spot on. I saw them in Chicago on the 5th (The non-rain date), and this show was 100000x better, in my opinion. I think that comes from all the dates they've played in between - plenty of time for them to get back on top of their game! Even Neil's solo felt more energized and 'fresh' than when he performed it back at the July 5th show. Also Dudad - my friend and I were front row on the other side of the stage, and we did see a dad and his young blond son up at the railing during the later part of the show (he put the kid on his shoulders). It was HILARIOUS and totally cool to see the kid with a pair of drumsticks trying to air-drum along with Neil - I really hope Neil was able to see it himself, too. I even saw the kid tossing out the 'devil's horns' several times, as well - totally awesome sight and totally cute - the kid was all of 5 years old? Maybe 6? I also noted that Neil was wearing the BIG black earphones for the show - not the usual small ear-piece he wears. I thought that was an interesting change from what I'd come to be used to seeing over the years. Geddy made comments several times, thanking us for our patience and willingness to come back after the rainout. I don't know if the place was sold-out, but it sure did LOOK packed whenever I examined the crowd. And the free-hats.... at first, I thought the radio guy was going to tell us "These special hats are yours... for ONLY $XX.XX". But to find out they were FREE to everyone??? Wow. And they aren't those cheap hats, either - they're the GREAT quality ones (same as the standard black tour hats). I was pretty amazed. Whoever is handling their marketing deserves a big pat on the back for that one, and if it really was the band themselves, then even more power to them! Awesome show. I do hope to have my hearing back to normal in the next few days. -Tim
  4. Let's face it - everyone has an opinion. I disagree with the OP - I thought the first set was awesome.
  5. Presto and Subdivisions for me. Oh, and Witch Hunt, too, along with Vital Signs and BU2B. Ok, gotta stop, or I'll end up listing the whole set.
  6. QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Jul 9 2010, 10:15 PM) QUOTE (DetachedandSubdivided @ Jul 9 2010, 08:58 PM) QUOTE (Mr. Krinkle @ Jul 9 2010, 08:31 PM) Look. Everything about Charter One was fine after Monday's great show. Then this happened and suddenly the place totally sucks. The sound there is great. The location is good too. People from both North and South of Chicago can get there easily. Sorry, but no. I was at the Monday show, as well, and I still think this is the worst venue in town. The rain just made it suck even more. Like I said, a different venue would have still given them the chance to play Wed nite to boot. Of course, I'd still go back there if they come back to the same venue - but I sure as heck won't be seeing anyone else at that venue, and I sure hope in the future they'll avoid it. Pain in the butt to get to. As far from downtown as possible would be better. I DEFINITELY prefer Tinley over that place. I definitely think the UC would have been better, too, but maybe too big for this tour? Oh well, just my 2 coppers. I'm sorry, I didn't look at your profile, so I don't know where you live, but if you are from the Chicago area you should have no problem getting there. Yes, I live in the west burbs, and it's a pain in the ass going anywhere downtown or near downtown. Pretty much any other venue would be easier to access than Charter One Pavillion (at least in my experience). I don't know where you live, but what is 'no problem' for you just MIGHT be somewhat of a problem for others. They've re-scheduled, and it's at the same venue. Rush is the only band I would ever go see at this venue - because I love their music that much. So I'll be there on Aug 23rd, and I'll just cross my fingers that future visits to the windy city will be at a different venue!
  7. Add me into the envious pile! Awesome evening for you, Alex! Grats!
  8. *SPOILER ALERT* I guess it depends on what you consider 'classic'. To a lot of fans, early-mid 80's IS "classic", being that those are well over 20 years old. Working Man, LaVilla, Freewill, Spirit, Closer to the Heart, 2112... even not taking all of MP into account, they still did a pretty decent job of representing the "classics", in my book at least. Maybe they weren't the classics some people wanted, but that's how it goes. Wasn't Camera Eye one of the biggest 'wish-list' songs on various Rush forums around the net? For years? They not only did it, they included the whole freakin' album. I honestly just don't see a lot of reason to complain about the setlist, really. But, different strokes and all that. It's obviously impossible for a band with this wide a catalog to be able to please every fan 100%.
  9. QUOTE (hazlnut @ Jul 11 2010, 08:53 AM) QUOTE (BIAS2112 @ Jul 10 2010, 09:58 PM)Article Litigious idiot. Let's make the courts solve all our personal problems and disappointments... I am sure that you were in his shoes, you wouldn't have any problem at all being out several hundred dollars? You'd smile and laugh it off, I bet? Ticket refunds for non-shows without a reschedule = common sense.
  10. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Jul 10 2010, 08:56 PM) Isn't stub hub a reseller? If so I don't see how to expect the money back. StubHub guarantees their tickets - or so their website says. If a show is cancelled, they have a refund policy which also includes fees charged for using their service. Direct from their website - "When an event is cancelled or a contingent event is not played, we'll send you an email to let you know. Return your tickets within 2 weeks of receiving our email and we'll fully refund the cost of the tickets plus all service and delivery fees. Please allow us 3 weeks to process your refund. Return tickets to: SH Return Center 2525 McKinnon Street Suite 590 Dallas, TX 75201 Note: If you received your tickets electronically, you do not need to take any action. We will send you an email with your refund information."
  11. QUOTE (trenken @ Jul 10 2010, 08:41 PM) IF you are going to travel like that to an outdoor concert, you're taking a huge risk. I would never travel over maybe 2 hours by car to any outdoor concert, but then again, im smart. This case will get thrown out and you wont get a dime. they have the right to cancel shows for safety reasons you know. It's not for the bands safety, its for yours. There was lightning, they dont want thousands of ppl standing out there. They did the right thing genius. Sure, they have the right to cancel - but NOT the right to keep your cash and run off with it. There's a bit of a difference there. I was at the show - I don't blame them for cancelling (whoever's decision it was is irrelevant to me). BUT, if they decided not to perform, a ticket refund is just plain common sense (barring a rescheduled event). If they reschedule and our tickets are still valid, then I think Chris may easily be on the losing end of it. But if they don't reschedule, then I think it makes perfect sense that refunds are granted.
  12. I totally agree with Chris in regards to the ticket refund. It's about time SOMEONE with the means and stones to stand up to Ticketmaster/Stubhub/LiveNation/Etc did so. In this case, his detail of events are right on the money - they opened up long enough to sell merch and food/drink, then cancelled the show. A non-show should mean a refund. Plain and simple. In 99% of the businesses across the globe, there wouldn't even be a discussion. I myself am concerned, too. While I could make a re-schedule, I haven't seen where they are going to re-schedule (yet). To the folks who keep saying they'll do it - how sure are you? As for the 'fine print' - that doesn't always hold-up in court. The FRONT of the ticket (bigger print) says "Rain or Shine" - pretty clear and simple. Even if the 'fine print' is upheld, that renders the front of the ticket obviously misleading and at the very least, confusing. Chris could definitely have a point there. The funny thing is - for folks who just want their money back - that's all they really want - the money they paid to the company. They simply want to be treated fairly, and come to a 'break even' point with LiveNation or whoever. If the band does not reschedule, I'd expect my ticket money back. Otherwise, LiveNation is just receiving free money for sending a guy out on stage to announce the cancellation? Silly. Now, Chris wanting any additional funds back might be a lot harder to persuade out of a judge. How many people go to a baseball game that is rained-out? Do they ever receive reimbursement for their travel expenses? LiveNation was not responsible for our gas money/taxi fees/airfare/lodging etc. They are responsible for providing the venue for the band to perform - anything else is incidental to that and probably rests on our shoulders, no matter what happens. But at the very least, I do agree that the ticket-prices should be refunded (especially if there is no rescheduled date), and if Ticketmaster/Stubhub had ANY integrity - they'd do it without hesitation. I do find it hilarious how some folks instantly come to the defense of the band - as great as they are, they are not our "friends" or "buddies". Try to set aside the fascination and hero-worship, and put yourselves in the shoes of the damaged party. If it happened to you at your show after you spent all the time and energy to get to it - would YOU really be ok with a no-show - and no refund? Just my 2 coppers, tho. Good luck, Chris. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you!

  14. I think the sound at the Pavillion is not any better than the sound at Tinley - and Tinley at least has the benefit of cover from the elements. If the Wed show were at Tinley, they likely would have played. The Pavillion just plain sucks. The set-up, design, lack of anything resembling quality - the place just screams cheap and crappy. I'd be fine with the UC or Rosemont Horizon, as I live pretty much right in between those two locations and either are a heck of a lot better than trying to get out to the Field Museum area. I'd even be fine with Tinley. But honestly, I just hope they come back - don't much care where, or when.
  15. QUOTE (CygXanTor @ Jul 8 2010, 06:23 PM) I'll say this for the Chicago crowd; they took the bad news pretty well...Obviously it was disappointing for all, but as far as I know, no shit happened... There was one guy who was yelling pretty loud as he made his way from middle 200 seat area, down past the stage, cursing and 'calling out the band'. He walked right by me and he was STEAMED. I also saw a pair of guys get into a pretty heated argument - one guy thought it was the band's fault, and was ripping on them pretty hard. The other guy was sticking up for the band and was being pretty well-mannered. I get the frustration - I certainly was. But the band doesn't control the weather, and I would suppose that they are somewhat at the mercy of the venue when it comes to insurance, contracts, etc. But yes, overall, the general feel was simple disappointment. No rioting or chucking stuff on stage. There was even a huge crowd of folks crowding row 1 trying to get pics when the crew was disassembling the set.
  16. Just returned home from the cancelled show - LOTS of unhappy fans in attendance. It started to pour about an hour before the show, and really let loose just before 7:30. It did slow and eventually come to a stop (Almost), but the LiveNation guy came out about 30 min later and gave us the bad news and told us that because of the forecast, they were going to play it safe for us and the band and cancel the show. I had hopes that they'd still play, since there was no wind and the rain had withdrawn to a sprinkle. But in these days of insurance premiums and contracts, I am not surprised. Best seats I've ever had at a Rush show, too. I sincerely hope they reschedule. I also have to whine a bit about the venue. It's terrible. As in, the worst venue I think I've ever been too. Had the show been scheduled in just about ANY other venue in Chicago - we'd be watching the show right now. The flimsy folding seats at the Pavillion are about 16 inches wide (literally), and tied together with those industrial plastic ties. It was super-cramped, felt cheap, and was just a terrible location. I sincerely hope they don't ever use this venue again. Oh well, enough whining - at least I did get to see them 2 nights ago.
  17. QUOTE (tel @ Jul 7 2010, 02:23 AM) was it a quirky angle or was alex playing keys? Alex did indeed play keys on at least one song. Had his only keyboard on his side of the stage and everything!
  18. I have to wonder if the guy really did go to the show. Seriously. The band changed/modified a LOT of their material - sometimes subtly (how Geddy approaches the lyrics), and sometimes blatantly (seen the various complaints from fans about the Working Man modification?). Making the statement that they could just plug-in a CD over the PA is pretty crass and uneducated. I bet the guy spent 8 hours writing the review - 5 of those hours spent thumbing through his thesaurus and dictionary trying desperately to sound as intelligent as his subject matter.
  19. There were people selling the "Rash" shirts by the gates when we left the venue last night (Chicago show). I asked ones of the guys selling them and he said $40 each. He had a big stack of them in a box near where he was standing.
  20. I was at the Chicago show, and there were some pretty hefty gusts of wind through most of the show - that would be my guess as to why there was little pyro and nothing huge/heavy dangling on chains that might swing around during the show... Just a guess, tho!
  21. QUOTE (GeddyLeefan2112 @ Jul 3 2010, 11:33 AM) I disagree. Immensely. Ditto. Don't fix what ain't broken. Hopefully the guys will remember that.
  22. For me, Presto #1 by a huge amount. I personally couldn't care less about Camera Eye, honestly. But I know tons of people were dying to see it, so I am happy for them. Next would be "Marathon", I think. And of course my all-time favorite, Subdivisions.
  23. I'd be thrilled if they just kept TS, and made room for other stuff since they're playing the entire album this tour. But I would bet they'll go with TS, Limelight, and YYZ.
