  1. QUOTE (drgrendel @ Oct 4 2012, 11:24 AM) seriously? Ok...on a serious note...please someone..anyone...define the following: CASUAL fan TRUE fan HARDCORE Fan I am interested because I wish to know what category I fit in. Here are my credentials: Own everything they released (non-bootleg material only) studio or live Own all their DVDS Read all of Neil's Books Attended at least one show per tour since May 9, 1981 - sometimes multiple shows per tour IMO - the current CA Tour is their weakest to date and I cringe at the thought of having to sit through more of their videos. I really need to know what type of fan I am. Thank you in advance to all those who are all knowing. Well, it's not my place to define those terms (which I think are subjective) but I would have to put you in the "Hardcore" category. I am probably in the "True" category. First saw Rush in 1979 but was a fan long before that. But I don't see them every tour and have only seen multiple shows on one tour. I have a life. To the point of the OP, I am selfish. I want to hear AFTK, 2112, Moving Pictures... but I understand that I'm not in charge. I enjoy hearing good live music and watching talented musicians play it. On that I can never be disappointed by Rush. But I do hope to hear some of my favorites, although it seems they have retired Xanadu, which is my singular favorite.
  2. Yep, traffic jams suck. I remember the first time seeing Pink Floyd in Philly ages ago - traffic came to a standstill on a bridge (I-95) and we were there for what seemed like an eternity. Worst part, we could see the stadium (outdoor) and see the lasers and lights when the show started.... we missed almost half of it.
  3. QUOTE (rushfanforever! @ Oct 10 2012, 08:03 PM) QUOTE (Running Rebel @ Oct 10 2012, 07:58 PM) Tickets aren't at the box office? I'm 5 days away and haven't heard anything? They will be at the box office or special table set up just for VIP'ers. Need your ID for pick up. I took my emailed order confirmations as well, but didn't need 'em. Yep, I always take my confirmations as well, just in case. This year's confirmation has a phone number on it just in case you have any problem - which is good to have.
  4. QUOTE (blending strings @ Apr 23 2012, 11:31 AM) I completed the VIP Nation VIP package for Philly... when do you find out where your seats are? Not until you pick up your tickets the night of the show. That sucks really, but there is nothing you can do about it.
  5. I debated and debated, but I broke down and bought the VIP package x2. Did the same on the last tour, and couldn't really complain - but I am hoping for better seats this time. Supposedly, the seats are allocated based on the date/time of the purchase - and since I completed my purchase at 12:01 I am hopeful. Who's going in Philly?
  6. Anyone know when Philly tickets will go on sale? Nothing yet on Ticketmaster... Nevermind... found it: April 27
  7. QUOTE (Ron2112 @ Sep 20 2010, 07:50 AM) QUOTE (LedZep @ Sep 20 2010, 07:03 AM) Great show overall, and glad I went for a second time. I thought the energy level in Philly was better, even though the weather was super hot and humid that night. Seemed that the guys are getting a little weary at this point in the tour. The crowd energy in the first 15 or so rows was also much lower than in Philly, which could explain the lower on stage energy - as it is fed forward. Not to say everyone wasn't into it, but not like they were in Philly. Our mileage varies a bit here. I was also at both the Philly and Bristow shows, and I thought the Bristow crowd smoked Philly. I'm partial to the hometown crowd, I guess.... Just perception I guess... could also be because several people around me sat for a good bit of the show.... and in Philly no butt ever touched a chair while the band was on stage. Not to give the wrong impression by any means... great show, and I had a great time!
  8. Shooting concerts is a great experience, but it is also work - at least for most photographers who get the credentials. I used to shoot shows "back in the day" and each experience was nice. It's great when you're shooting an artist of whom you are a really big fan. One of the best was shooting Yes in the round (again, "back in the day") and the band members "slapping me five" as they took the stage. But you're typically there for 3 songs only, and they go by fast. You're so busy shooting, checking your gear, jockeying for position with other photographers, etc. that you don't really take it in until you're editing the photos. Hope you enjoyed it, and hope you got great shots. Photo credentials are harder and harder to obtain.
  9. First thing I agree with is that the parking sucks at this venue! First time ever at Jiffy Lube (where apparently you need the lube for what they are about to do to you), and hopefully my last visit. Usually go to shows in the Philly area. At first I was a bit appaled by what they called VIP parking, until I realized how far out the rest of the parking was... but still the VIP parking should be on the stage end of the venue, not the very rear. We started our way out from our 11th row seats during Working Man, because we knew it was the last song and the video would follow... we were able to get out fast, thankfully, and were on 66 less than five minutes from getting in the car. What AMAZED me was that while still walking to the car (remember the part where we started out during Working Man?) a police escort whizzed by followed by Neil's bus!!! Man, he wasted no time at all, must have stepped off stage right onto the bus! Unmistakable, because of his trailer. Great show overall, and glad I went for a second time. Alex was great with the crowd on his side, and even had some fun with the Tom Sawyer wiring issues. Glad I went, had a great time.
  10. Bringing the two grandkids to their very first concert experience tomorrow night. I'm about as excited for them as to see the show, and hope they really get blown away. We're in row L, so two things: To the folks in row K... hope you're not too tall... to the folks in row M... the boys will probably have to stand on their seats for the duration - hope that's not too annoying. Wait, here's an idea - let's just all sit quietly in our seats and enjoy the show. A smattering of polite applause after each song...
  11. QUOTE (Motorshooter @ Sep 17 2010, 12:35 PM) Section 102 Seat 36 Row G The weather for Saturday 86 d day time, falling into the 70's at night, should be perfect for the show Amen to that! At the Philly (Camden) show it was nearly 100 degrees and humid as hell. Alex went through about four shirts, and Geddy mentioned the miserable heat a couple times... "steamy" was what he called it. The guys I really felt for are the ones who man the follow spots about 50 feet above the stage... trapped up there for the duration, with NO air circulation and all that heat rising up.
  12. QUOTE (summer_sky @ Sep 3 2010, 06:22 PM) I saw a guy walking down the street outside of the Allentown Fairgrounds a couple of hours before the show wearing a 'RASH' t-shirt. I rolled down the car window and yelled "RASH! Yeaaahhhhhh!!!" He smiled and waved. wonder who he was and where he got that shirt? Turns out he no clue what you were talking about.... his doctor makes him wear it...
  13. I heard that if you scramble the letters to all the songs on the compilation, then apply an Egyption algorithm to the order - and then flip it exactly backwards, it spells out what the set list for the next tour is going to be. Or, perhaps it's just a list of songs.... not sure.
