As long as they are all Alive there's the possibility of a RUSH tour. However small it may be! Even if its a stretch of 8 Days in LA! Wow sounds like the name of a Tour!
RUSH
8 Days in LA !
-
How about the drum machine Alex used for The Anarchist. Neil just copied that....
Not an option...no! :P
-
I went with Dave, only cause he has already appeared live with RUSH in one way or form but my first choice would really be Mike Portnoy.
-
Wouldn't it be cool if Alex and Geddy would do something like this:
-
Neil's solo at the end of Cygnus...his double bass work was on it. A
I bet you really glad you saw that show in LA now?

-
Neil is popping in the Good Dinosaur into the Blu Ray for the 16th Time.
Alex and Geddy are on a conference call with Mike Portnoy!

-
There are a lot of other great musicians out there that Alex and Geddy could play with. No reason they shouldn't. Personally I'd love to hear them play with some other musicians.
Time for that Lifeson/ Lee Tour! With Special Guest Drummer Mike Portnoy!
-
I never thought I'd actually see this sad day but here it is!
:(

No offense but I don't think there's any way they would ever tour as Rush with a guest drummer.
I can imagine Geddy and Alex possibly doing a tour on which they did some Rush material but it wouldn't be billed as a Rush tour and would probably only happen if they had something else to justify it, such as a new Geddy/Alex album.
As for a Rush 45 tour I don't think it's at all likely but would stop short of saying impossible. An R50 I think is very likely impossible.
I think the more realistic, if still not at all certain or likely, possibilities for Rush going forward are as follows:
-A new studio album, possibly with a very limited number of live performances.
-A few limited performances, possibly with some new material thrown in, even if there is no new album.
-A few limited performances with no new material.
If we get anything more from them I'll be extremely grateful; as far as I'm concerned they've already given us far more than enough and anything else would be awesome but I don't expect it.
One thing is certain; if they ever do play even just one more show I will travel anywhere for any price to see it. To see Rush live just one more time would be sweet, regardless of the set list.
But I don't expect it.
This kinda makes sense. They would probably tour ala: Page / Plant did back in the 90's. A would love to see a Lee/ Lifeson Tour. Set list below:
Set 1:
Far Cry
Caravan
Driven (With Bass Solo)
Cut to the Chase
My Favorite Headache
Promise
Mal-Nar
Limelight
Freewill
Headlong Flight
Set 2:
The Spirit of Radio
Tom Sawyer
New World Man
Clockwork Angels
Don't Care
Working at Perfekt
Distant Early Warning
Red Barchetta
La Villa Strangiatto
Hemispheres (Prelude)
Cygnus X-1
Xanadu
2112 (O/T/F)
Encore:
The Anarchist
YYZ
Working Man
I'd pay to see this!
:Alex: :geddy:
You and your endless set lists.
I bet you have a "Geddy solo tour" set list, a "Geddy/Alex" set list (as seen here), an "Alex solo tour" set list, a "Geddy/Alex unplugged" set list, a "full Rush band" set list, a "one off gig full Rush band" set list, and "B" & "C" alternate set lists for each of those tours don't you?
Possibly!

Does anyone know if Neil still practices every day?
Maybe not in the intensity/frequency he used to when the band was in full flight.
Does anyone know for certain? Or has he pulled the plug on everything?
Well, I don't think that even Geddy or Alex would know that for certain. And anything we surmise about it is just conjecture.
But that being said, I think he most likely has hung it up completely, at least for the time being. I imagine he may want to play again, at some point, but that would be simply of his own free will.
Or maybe his daughter might influence him somewhat- I can see him just kind of playing around on the drums, if it's something that she wants him to do, and it makes her smile. I like the thought of that.
"Daddy, Remember when you used to be a rock star in RUSH?"

Neil doesn't seem one for sentiment, so I doubt there would be anything done according to an anniversary .... Is there an album in the future, or perhaps a short stint of shows ?? .. maybe ... but with all due respect, Neil looked out of shape and stiff on this last tour, and he just seems to have lost the fire to play in Rush ..
But I think Geddy and Alex will definitely do something together in the next 3 years
My pick:

Neil has a life,
Recording music and touring for 40 plus years takes a toll on a person's body. Plus family priorities. He can kick any drummers a**! :Neil:
Troutman, come on now, where did I ever blame him ?? You know that I have been fine with his decision all along ( except for that last blog hiccup )
But that doesn't mean that the music has to stop
As a band,
Without Neil it does. No Rush. There is no way in Hell Alex and Geddy would carry on as Rush. Call it what you want with another drummer but it won't be Rush. If it is over, I hope Alex and Geddy do there own thing at this point.
What would we call it? BRUSH, CRUSH, KRUSH, l-o-l
Yes my LOL looks like a Tie- Fighter.

I think that the RUSH camp will push for an R45 tour even if it means they tour with a guess drummer. Now Who would that be? Mike Portnoy come to mind as do many others.

I listen to RUSH about 50% of the time. The rest is divided between everybody else.

Grey's version of Dog Years was better than the original. Not that that takes much doing.
Mind you, the puppy cunnilingus was a bit gratuitous!
Absolutely! Much better than the original! Of coarse we had a great video to go with it!

I can't believe you sang with Bubbles! Dude that's Epic! Specially that fact he knew you were in a different key! LOL

Cygnus and Lorraine, if you recall further, it wasn't just a couch that was burning. Rather, there was a stated intend to defecate on the couch, which may in fact have been the reason that said couch was to be dragged onto the front lawn and burned. I know if that happened on my couch, I'd be burning it on the front lawn pronto. On the CD The Bonus Tracks are really great. Specially Losing It in LA. Wow what a clear sounding production on that track!
I will never forget your reaction when we got wind of the fact that they were rehearsing the song during soundcheck. :)
I'm disappointed in the lack of couch burnings.
You have a good memory, I forgot about that. :)
If I remember correctly, we had to talk him out of actually doing it.
Yes, it took me awhile to find the thread it was on. I had forgotten about the defecation.
The important thing is that we talked him out of it. At least I hope we did.
Well the truth is I did have to get a new couch! Insert reason here-->

Its very Possible that Neil might have already chosen the person he'd like to step into his shoes!
