That's brilliant! I love the early Kansas stuff. I got a box set of all their albums remastered & some expanded from the debut up to "Drastic Measures" & I haven't stopped playing it since I got it. I went off them at around the "Drastic Measures" album but up until then they were great. I love the first 3 records & "Monolith". I wish I could see this tour.

METAL LIVES! The New WHITE WIZZARD Called
Turbine Freight replied to RUSHHEAD666's topic in Music Of The Spheres
I'll be getting this album. I like this band alot. I do think that's a new singer too. This band does have a propensity for musical chairs. The other albums they've done have all been good listens. -
Have you watched the clip of Guthrie playing? The way he does those super slick glissandi is insane. What technique! Those song clips sound fantastic. I really do like the look of this guitar.

Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?
Turbine Freight replied to rushgoober's topic in Music Of The Spheres
And how did they give the industry a shot in the arm? Seriously, did they inspire anything particularly special that came afterwards? Culture Club & Visage were at the forefront of the New Romantic movement. They were the bridge from the underground clubs to the mainstream for that type of music. They inspired loads of bands that came afterwards (Duran Duran, Human League, all that lot). Whether you deem that "special" is purely objective. -

Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?
Turbine Freight replied to rushgoober's topic in Music Of The Spheres
I like Boy George. Got to admire someone who is unafraid to be themselves, often under duress & even censure. Not a Culture Club fan myself, but they were a good pop band that gave the industry a shot in the arm when it was needed. -
Just finished "Kicking & Dreaming", the Heart biography by Ann & Nancy Wilson. Good read if you like the band.

Who fell off the biggest cliff?
Turbine Freight replied to Lost In Xanadu's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Aerosmith - loved everything up to "Night In The Ruts", after that, flatlined. Def Leppard - went from being ace to being woeful in one fell swoop. "Pyromania" was the last good one. Bon Jovi - really like the first two records, especially the debut, but "Slippery" killed them (although not financially!). Scorpions - were absolutely brilliant. The Ulrich Roth era was masterful. Then from "Lovedrive" to "Love At First Sting" they were a great pastiche of a US party band, but fun & still making great songs. After that they just began to cannibalise themselves & became awful very quickly. It's hard to believe that the modern day Scorps came up with early albums like "In Trance", "Virgin Killer" & "Taken By Force". Huge fall in quality in my eyes. -
Black Sabbath Officially Announce New Album ’13′!
Turbine Freight replied to fonzbear2000's topic in Music Of The Spheres
The new single left me cold. Hope the album is a heck of a lot better, but won't get my hopes up. -
These clips are fantastic! I love Friedman & Gilbert! The Japanese show is great fun. Thanks for sharing, great stuff.

Yes I know what you mean. The only guitar I own that has a bar is the Charvel I mentioned in my previous post. I never really bothered with one until then, but I have practised hard with it to learn how to use it etc. It's great for doing the sort of 80s metal stuff (Van Halen, Ratt, Dokken) in an authentic way that I couldn't quite duplicate without a bar previously. It was quite stiff & inflexible from the factory set up, but it does "play in" with perseverance. I like this guitar because it has a floating trem (you can pull up or push down) unlike the Floyd Rose (push down only) that I already have. And it has 24 frets.....I always wanted a 24 fret guitar. I really hope they market this one, as Charvels are generally very good value for money too. Can't you adjust your floyd Rose to float? I've never encountered one that couldn't be adjusted. I know many people block them to try and keep the intonation but you should be able to make it float if you wanted it to. Yes I think you can do that but not without having to route (sp?) the body out first. May be wrong but I think you'd have to do that on my Charvel to make the bar float.

Love Manowar. I've been listening to their latest "Lord Of Steel" all last week on my commute. Very strong album. Great band.
-
The first 2 albums were classics. They made some very good music after those two though, with both frontmen. Good band.

My brother had all the Rush albums when we were kids, but the first one I bought for myself was "Signals" when it was released. I beat him to the punch! :sundog:
