  1. I am okay, thank you so much for asking. :) Fortunately I was able to bail her out of jail, however she is facing quite an extensive list of charges: ☆Driving On A Suspended License ☆Expired Tag ☆Driving Without Insurance ☆Running A Red Light ☆Not Wearing A Seatbelt ☆Eluding An Officer All of the money we have accumulated for moving is now going towards this, and I’m not even one-hundred percent certain as to whether or not she will be returning to jail. Everything always goes wrong all at once it seems, although it could be much worse, I suppose. I am beyond grateful for everything I do have right now. The songs The Enemy Within, Marathon, Prime Mover, and Survival (a song from Yes’ debut album) are helping me get through this. It’s amazing how music enables you to maintain a positive perspective even when it seems all hope is lost. Music truly is “a beacon in the darkness”. Should anything else transpire, I will let you guys know. I'm sorry I did not update my situation sooner. I thank everyone for being so kind and empathic... I will be keeping all of you in my thoughts. The expired tags, suspended license and no insurance are probably done deals since those are difficult to argue against. But, I did offer you some advice on the others. Check your messages :) From what I could gather from Florida code, this is what I found: Expired tags is an infraction - No jail time, pay a fine Insurance violation is an infraction - No jail time, pay a fine and possible license suspension. Suspended License: First conviction is second degree misdemeanor - punishable by $500 fine Second conviction is first degree misdemeanor - punishable by $1,000 fine Third or any subsequent convictions is a third degree felony - punishable by $5,000 fine and possible jail time I couldn't find if misdemeanors carry jail time in Florida. I know that, in my state, misdemeanors and felonies do not have grades - they are one or the other. Misdemeanors carry a possible sentence of up to a year in jail. Jail time for felonies is determined by the specific crime committed. I have rarely ever seen a person spend much time in jail for a suspended license though. I think they would have to be a habitual offender in order for that to happen. She should have access to a public defender, so they could clarify these points for her better than I can.
  2. One of my favorite views!
  3. I've reached out privately and have not gotten a response. If anyone knows this gal beyond this forum please let me know. I am becoming worried.
  4. Gangster and I don't always agree on everything (well, actually I've only found one thing we disagree on, but I still am quite fond of her :D ), but she is absolutely right on this subject. I, too, was very co-dependent on my mother up until I FINALLY defied her and accepted a bus ticket from my boyfriend at the time to visit him in Miami where he was attending college. I lived there with him for a little over a month. I only came back because I had pets and property still in Idaho. That month was the VERY best thing I EVER did for myself. I proved that I could make it outside of her, and that there are plenty of people in this world who care about me and will help. I came back...and, within two hours of me getting home I emerged from the shower (3 days on a Greyhound is bad for hygiene) to find my mother crazed and going after my father with sharp objects from the kitchen. I intervened and got 10 stitches in my hand for my trouble when I tried to wrestle a knife from her hands. I survived. I eventually broke up with that boyfriend, but the lessons I learned during that month still resonate to this day, 17+ years later. It's possible. Take it from someone who proved it so.
  5. Not to sound harsh, but nothing will work out if you don't take some sort of action. I know I am a stranger, but I've dedicated my life to serving people...and most of those people have been complete strangers to me. My intentions are good. I was a highly decorated police officer and had more letters of appreciation in my personnel file than pretty much any other cop in my department.
  6. Actually, if it's deemed that she is a danger to herself then yes...there will be a protective custody order put in place. Those are VERY temporary and rarely last beyond 3-7 days. Of course, that varies from state to state, but that's the average. Take it from someone that, as a police officer for 5 years, put well over 100 people into protective custody. And, I was a cop in a relatively small town. I have had MANY of those people get in touch with me and thank me for taking action. Many consider it the best thing they ever had happen to them. It's not a bad thing if she really needs help. IR, if you don't want to talk to a hotline, message me and I will give you my phone number. I'm not a psychiatric professional, but I know the criteria that has to be met in most instances for people to be placed in protective custody. I will help you.
  7. IR, I am sorry that you are going through this. First off, do not blame yourself for your mother getting pulled over and subsequently arrested. She's an adult and made the decision to drive a vehicle with an expired tag and no insurance on a suspended license. I also witnessed my mother being arrested once, but I was younger (about 15-16 if I remember correctly). She went on to commit even more crimes and did a stint in prison as well. She was a prescription drug addict and a habitual liar. None of those things were my fault, even though I was with her in the car when she was arrested the first time. I went on to have a wonderful son and a nearly 10 year career in law enforcement. Also, when I hit age 18 I was pretty much left on my own. Oh, my dad let me live in the house with him after he and my mother divorced, but I was responsible for everything else in my life. School, gas money, car repairs, food...everything. I managed. You can't let this pull you down. Find resources in your community to help you. Even if it's just emergency shelter or help with food. There are resources. And, call the hotline. Maybe the person you get on the line will be able to help you find those resources. However, I will say that, as a police officer, I have been sent to check on people who call suicide or crisis hotlines. Hell, I've even taken many of those people into protective custody and placed them (with the assistance of medical professionals, of course) into psychiatric facilities for short periods of time (most stays in those situations are limited to 3-7 days). Guess what...that's what those hotlines are there for! If you are seriously thinking that you are a danger to yourself then please call. As far as the animals, many humane societies offer temporary housing (through their shelter or fosters) for animals displaced in times of crisis. You've got this...make the call. If it saves your life, what's a few days in hospital to pull yourself together in the grand scheme of things? It might be the best thing you ever do for yourself. That's the worst that can happen. The best that can happen is that you get the help that you need to get through this tough situation. There is no shame in asking for help.
  8. Geddy's a very humble man, so I will answer for him: It's BLOODY AMAZING! :haz: :haz: What would be even more amazing would be me WITH Geddy Lee, but that's another topic all together. :P
  9. That is the interview to which I was referring. Thanks for not making me dig that book out of a box. ;)
  10. FBN was before the Taurus pedal days. I'm not sure exactly what's going on here but I've read that it is something that Geddy is doing with his bass. Yes...I have an interview with Geddy from the PeW era where he says that they got that sound by running his bass through "everything but the kitchen sink."
  11. It's his powers of awesomeness, me thinks :)
  12. Oh wow you have been holding out on us. Oh, my friend...I just found this today! I wasn't holding out in this case ;)
  13. I'd just put a finger to his lips "Shhhhh, baby. Just relax and go with it." I just have this vision of him going "Gangster, we are both married, and you're young enough to be my daughter, hell, you're younger than my son, knock this nonsense of this minute." Well, I'm older than his son by a couple of years, plus I'm single. So, he's only down to one valid argument with me.
  14. I'd just put a finger to his lips "Shhhhh, baby. Just relax and go with it."
  15. :geddy: "Look, if we're going to take this picture, you're definitely going to have to have your guitar in front of you." The guitar kept this from becoming an unfortunate Dirxst post. Or fortunate depending on how you look at it... lol The only Dirxst I like is the one with me being the filling in between. Oh like one of those cream pies? hehehe. I almost said "The only Dirxst I like is the one where I am the cream filling," but I decided against it.

  18. NONONONONONONONO!! Actually, I would hate to see them tour with another band. I'm kind of spoiled though...I've never had to sit through an opening act to see Rush (my first concert was T4E, the first tour with no opening act). I say they keep it like it is. Otherwise, I think they would end up having to shorten the set list. They already piss enough people off by leaving out songs when they play a nearly 3 hour set. Imagine the outcry if they had to shorten it to 2 hours, or...Ged forbid...90 minutes! :o
  19. :geddy: "Look, if we're going to take this picture, you're definitely going to have to have your guitar in front of you." Ugh how does Geddy stay so trim. This picture is like what? 20 years old (?) and he still has a nice waist like that. I want to know what his diet secrets are. I think this picture was taken around the time of Vapor Trails (I have the magazine somewhere...trying to hunt it down to confirm). So, it's not quite 20 years old, but that would make it about 12 years old. So, yeah....he's still slim and trim. I usually hate people who are naturally slim like that, but in this case I am quite happy about it. I know that Geddy is a runner, plus he and his wife were pretty big into cycling for a while. I'm sure he has a personal trainer and all that stuff so he stays healthy. Whatever it is, I am glad he does it! Yeah I was second guessing myself with the 20 years thing. I hate naturally skinny people too, and while I don't hate Geddy I hate that he's so naturally skinny because one of these days I'm going to take a pic next to him and I want to be much smaller. But it's hard for me because I've always, always, always carried extra pounds on my frame. And yes, he does have a personal trainer? Have you ever seen the video at the end of Beyond The Lighted Stage? "Dinner with Rush In A Hunting Lodge"? He and Alex talk about how Alex has hired his personal trainer. I'd be able to hire a personal trainer as well if I weren't going to so many Rush concerts all of the time. Yes, I have seen that video. I also read an interview with him not too long ago where he talks about having a personal trainer and following a very strict diet so he can stay healthy and preserve his voice on the road. He also mentioned that he felt like he could have kept touring another couple of months at the end of the last tour, where the other two guys were done and ready to go home. Whatever he is doing, it's working!!

  21. Let me get in on that action, boys!
  22. You sure you want to let them see your dandruff problem right away? HAHAHAHAHA! Seriously though, TAG, I think this is a really great picture of you! :) Dandruff. HA! I agree with Janie on this one. But, the dandruff comment was rather funny. Seriously, great shot.
