  1. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ Sep 12 2010, 09:36 PM)Neil is evil! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1ZTahG9Rvvo/SiHDEHZfEKI/AAAAAAAAAdg/7AUjLEhKonU/s320/neil_peart.jpg that's the mirror Neil. Just as good a drummer, but evil
  2. probably Tom Sawyer on the radio, but as a band that I would consider wanting to listen to. at work I had the radio I listen to on one of the local rock stations. they used to play Rush a lot, really going 2 hours without a rush song was rare (now they're a mainstream rock station, so no more rush...but tons of Saving Abel...). I was in the middle of a huge Pink Floyd fix, so nothing was going to break that wall. Until Distant Early Warning got stuck in my head, to the point where I googled the lyric, and got the whole album (good thing it was Grace Under Pressure) But the moment they became "the" band was when I was flipping through the tv and Rush in Rio was playing, and Natural Science had just started. I sat and watched and listened to that song, and it completely blew me away. I instantly starting running through the catalog...and here I am on TRF with the documentary playing on the tv (on the same channel) this was about 2 years ago.
  3. well they both played at the same state fair exactly a week apart. ..that being The Great New York State Fair So...
  4. Yeah, I get that feeling whenever I come home. I've only lived in 4 places, and one we moved out when I was about 1. But the second place is right just about 300 feet away from me....and my brother lives right across the street from me with his family (same townhouse my best friend lived in). It's a sort of apartment complex with townhouses, we lived in a townhouse, I'm in an apartment now, and my brother has another townhouse. It's wild, especially watching my niece and nephew play in the same areas I did back then my parents still live in the third place (only house so far), so I go there often (which is also just down the road from the first place, another apartment complex) Even though we moved out of here when I was 7, I still look out and have all sorts of memories, and the woods across the street that we built a fort in (some of the wood remains there too), and the hill right at the end of the road where we would sled down. and ruins of the old world war II ordnance works (this place was built on the land, an interesting history) really, no one in my family has really moved anywhere, so I go back the the places I remember when I visit them.
  5. Alex: "I'm good" *laughs* Neil: "you're not, really" Also, I feel less strange drumming along to the blinker at a red light.
  6. I'm the only one I know that plays them regularly.
  7. get a cat? oh and explosives, can't go wrong with explosives.
  8. QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Sep 2 2010, 02:12 PM) Texas. Frying. Beer. Was this invented by Hank Hill? That's some mighty fine beer, I tell you what. needed propane involved somehow (deep fried in propane?) what's next to deep fry?
  9. QUOTE (tick @ Sep 2 2010, 06:46 AM) I happen to be one of the lucky few who have never started a bad thread. same here But I've never started a good one either...or any thread for that matter.
  10. That's to the point of parody. Once you get to this point, they're indistinguishable. does it really go for 6:48...
  11. I wonder why they introduce themselves for commercials. Unless you're Billy Mays (R.I.P.) no one cares. while we're at it...political commercials hi, here's why I'm good in a quick easy to digest 30 seconds...or worse. Here's why the other guy will eat your babies and steal your money in 30 seconds. also on those weight loss infomercials they will always have these people. "if it worked on me it will work on anyone" "I was a skeptic at first but wow" "It changed my life" and that pro talking about how they use it to keep in shape. Those Toyota eavesdropping commercials...they can call it whatever they want, either way its bad acting, and a really dumb idea for an advertising campaign. Local commercials tend to suck, but they at least have a certain charm about them, I usually enjoy them (always good to see local businesses doing well) HeadON Apply directly to the forehead (hey, it worked)
  12. Because I've been playing s lot of Sonic the Hedgehog games recently (the 16-bit ones) Emerald Hill Zone (both acts) - Sonic The Hedgehog 2 it's even easier than Green Hill zone I would also say Hidden Palace Zone (Kunckles version) - Sonic [3] & Knuckes. all you have to do is walk through it. But the levels before it aren't easy (the Knuckles part of the game is harder than Sonic/Tails part)
  13. My car finally decided to torture me. My battery is nering death (will need to be replaced soon) and now a flat tire... and there's nothing I can do about it today (for various reasons) right before the Rush concert tomorrow....
  14. For the start of Meteorological fall it feels like mid July. 89F right now, hazy hot and humid. and tomorrow, for all the Rush fans coming to my neck of the woods 91F, hazy, hot and humid, with a slight chance (20%) of a thunderstorm (seems to come and go from the forecast). Though on the blacktop of the Fair, it will feel hotter. But on Saturday, it will be almost 30F less, high of 65F, with a 40% chance of rain...oh and we're keeping an eye on Hurricane Earl (though it shouldn't affect us much) Happy Fall!
  15. QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Aug 28 2010, 05:12 PM) QUOTE (Chrysalii @ Aug 28 2010, 11:17 AM) September 8 and 9...why in the middle of the week (hooray day shift?) Because it's Rush Hashanah! That's the date it falls on. bah and...they should promote them, try to get people to buy the replay x3 set.
  16. September 8 and 9...why in the middle of the week (hooray day shift?) But the DVD (and Blu-Ray) comes out in exactly a month(on 9/28), which also happens to be my birthday . now I get to use that DVR that I've been paying extra for. About time I found a use for it.
  17. The Spirit of Radio on TK99 (classic rock station, 99.5FM from where I am, though they have different frequencies for various locations) I've only heard the main staples on there (Tom Sawyer, Limelight, The Spirit of Radio and Freewill...nothing else, though they do have New World Man in their library, but it only plays when they go through it all) If you want Rush on the radio, do NOT come to Central New York. considering that they're be here in less than a week, I expected more (then again, they didn't do much Aerosmith, Blue Oyster Cult, Kansas of Styx so...all of them are playing, or already played at the Fair this year)
  18. and she glances at the garbage can every so often while petting the kitty. my cat used to jump in to the garbage can, we had to get one of those flap things so she wouldn't. We only found this out because of her meowing (and she rarely meowed...except to get my attention)
  19. I was watching Warehouse 13 the other day, there was a scene where one of the main characters noted it ("Best Rush album since Roll The Bones"...though Counterparts is better I think) I got the urge to listen to it. I agree "Snakes and Arrows rocks." I don't understand the hate Spindrift gets, but I agree with the general feeling on The Larger Bowl. and The Main Monkey Business is the best instrumental since La Villa Strangiato (yes I like it more than YYZ) Bravest Face joins Cut To The Chase as songs they should play live, but for some reason don't (and Jacob's Ladder, but it's been done live before)
  20. Now...about that 17 minute bass solo.
