I have appreciation for EVERY RUSH album even S&A which is at the bottom.....the top... GRACE UNDER PRESSURE I must say though I certainly underestimated Power Windows and Caress Of Steel

Early Franti is killer stuff. One of my top concerts ever. Yes back in he day he was masterful with his political stances and the same are his concerts. We marched together in DC and NYC against the war in Iraq.....we are friends and we always get together and party when he comes to S FL. He just came out with another album last week Soulrocker, I have not checked it out as yet.....anyway here's one of his classics......Bomb The World

As far as a band the choice has to be Michael Franti & Spearhead....even though today he has drifted away from his very political and anti war stances in the 90's and the early 2000's 1. Stay Human....Rock The Nation, Listener Supported, Oh My God, Stay Human and more are all gems 2. Yell Fire....too many to list after he visited Iraq 3. Everyone Deserves Music....with the classic...Bomb The World

I certainly did that with Power Windows even though I saw them 5 times on that tour. I wanted what I wanted and that was something similar to GUP.....which was never to be duplicated. I was young, who would want that duplication.....it was only until last year that I realized how great an album that was. A Thanksgiving road trip proved it from Palm Beach FL~Willmington NC, 22 total hours of driving by myself with every RUSH album (live ones too) and 1 RHCP GHits album. By far PoW was replayed more than ANY other album (even GUP, of which I only played once or twice) on the trip, the sound in my car was pure adrenaline when played loud or down low. Now that was a GREAT trip.

Ditto^^^^^^^The album is **excellence** which is followed by Power Windows and that album is not too far behind GUP.

Happy birthday S&A great tour but this album by far is my least favorite of all of them. Just can't get into the album to this date.

That's my favorite song from him That song is in my top 10 if not top 5. A very underrated song and live versions are even better....he rips into his guitar on that one. PJ fan here would love to find that version somewhere.

He was particular in his eating in that he was a serious vegan. He didn't even allow anyone to eat meat in his house if they did it was outside and the remnants place in the trash outside. He didn't even want the smell of meat in the house.

90% of the band's music over the three distinct eras, Golden BROON Era, The Synth Era and Modern Era. So basically you can detest around 2 full albums of songs and still be in the clear. Looks like I just made it, no thanks to Bones & Snakes. ;) I'm just a FAN, I don't care to be real or true.....just a long time fan since 78'. That's me right there that S&A album I have major difficulty getting into and I do love T4E. 50 concert shows only missed Counterparts since GUP so I gather I should be good unlike Hitler who thinks COS is the greatest album of all time.

Hmmmm, that could go on for a while. About a two weeks ago I was going through some of my music and came across the section with P. Had all sorts of Prince music and started playing 1999.....loved that song DMSR extended remix. I couldn't help myself but I started to dance non stop. Then went on to play his compilations and this man has made some amazing songs and records.

His immense talents made other musicians famous..... A song written and composed by Prince.... Peace

Very nice post, I agree with your accessment of Mettallica selling out....that's a bunch of crap. All bands need to try new things RUSH included and Metallica tried all sort of things. Some fans will like some won't.....nothing ventured nothing gained. I did liked some of their music after AJFA but the music seemed to lose some of its bite and hard crunch. In other words the music seemed to get stale, even though their were gems from several albums. It didn't help that Lars is an obnoxious little dweeb and James at times can't seem to stand himself. Didn't like the treatment of Jason where his bass playing came off as non existent. I'll take Megadeth now with Daves screechie voice which doesn't bother me a bit but then again some fans complain about Geddys voice as well.

I have to say I was one of the biggest Metallica fan there was.....however now I barely ever listen to them. On the other hand Megadeth for whatever reason I find so easy to listen to ANYONE of their albums. I've seen Metallica around 12 times and I've never seen Megadeth live however I'm going to make sure I do see them soon especially since our star musicians are dropping all around us so far this year.

Add Merle Haggard to the list. When asked what it feels like to be the best guitarist alive, Eric Clapton said, "I don't know. Ask Prince." Superior, genius musician.....I believe it was his first album he played every single instrument on that album. He will surly be missed RIPeace
