  1. I'm also of the opinion that he did a lot of his best work in that era. At the same time, I acknowledge that the synths were the more dominant sound, and Geddy's bass isn't always at the forefront. As a casual listener, I would probably see the synths as what I remember the albums for. Generally speaking, I'd wager most casual fans wouldn't really delve into the album to see what's there and appreciate it.

    is this news?

QUOTE The disc will most likely contain footage of Rush's April 15 concert at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. Just most likely? That is news...or just wrong.
  3. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 7 2011, 01:30 PM) Shows you where my head is............ Freudian typo.
  4. QUOTE (Ancient Ways @ Jun 7 2011, 09:25 AM) i like a vat or trough of lager. I'd take a silo full of lager, but a bowl was the only other receptacle offered.
  5. QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 6 2011, 09:46 AM) ...or Lager Bowl or... I'll take my lager in a bowl, thanks. Glasses/mugs just aren't big enough anymore.
  6. QUOTE (Tarkus406 @ Jun 5 2011, 08:31 PM) Why do ya think I'm moving to KY (jelly) in a month? Don't leave. It's down to like us 5 New England fans. That seems to be all we have up here.
  7. What about distinguishing Vermont from Vapor Trails? In fairness, a majority of people abbreviate VP, anyway, but still....Can my great state please not be associated with that horribly-mixed album? To the topic at hand, (if Cosy hadn't been banned, seemingly), I'd recommend an acronym to differentiate, like PeW/PoW. That said, I guess it's a moot point.
  8. Have they done the drawing yet? They said the drawing would be "on or about June 1."
  9. QUOTE (Tony R @ May 28 2011, 05:26 PM) I thought it was an early version of Best I Can. If it was, the song matured quickly, considering they played Best I Can in the same show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoRZbf61GdY
  10. Also, in S1 (the "Cristo" episode), they played Working Man when they were driving to the airport.
  11. I'd like to preface this by noting that I'm not taking sides here. That said, I should note that the author of particular words does not always have the final say in the liner notes. As an example, I point to PeW; the liner notes say something like "If you choose not to decide, you cannot have made a choice," but that's not how they turned out on the album - and I doubt Neil is thinking, "Grr...Geddy's been singing it wrong all these years!" I'm just saying that 1. Things change and 2. Other people paraphrase.
  12. The only incidence - off the top of my head - at least in terms of song titles would be "No One At the Bridge." I don't have CoS on me, so I can't say how it appears on the actual album cover, but everything I found on the internet had no hyphen. If you were talking about something in the lyrics, I don't know.
  13. CDs and legitimate imports: http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/main/Albums.htm Imports in terms of bootlegs: http://www.digitalrushexperience.com/database/dbhome.php
  14. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Apr 5 2011, 10:59 PM) Wouldn't it have been with the DVD's/Blu-Ray instead of with the CD's? Nope. CDs.
  15. Typically, your best bet is probably here: http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/main/Wallpaper.htm It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's pretty close.
  16. 6-15-08. You just can't beat front row. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk96/kbomb106/Rush%206%2015%2008/IMG_0216.jpg
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kse01ftDAU0 - while his playing is superb during all of Bytor, listen to the crazy fill he does at 7:30-7:33. Insane! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNkAtgX-HT4 - from 3:37 to 3:47. I so wish that Youtube had the PoW Philly version of this song, as the bass was a lot more upfront. If you have that bootleg, listen to the corresponding part on that one instead. I second the nomination for Turn the Page. Should I ever happen to learn the bassline to that song, there is no way in hell I'd ever be able to sing at the same time. And I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, so I will: Circumstances. That whole song has a fairly wacky bassline. You can hear it very well on this live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49q59A8OhM8
  18. QUOTE (g under p @ Jan 31 2011, 11:57 PM) OK my mind is a bit blurry but I believe it was November 84' Hampton Va Hampton Coliseum. The Grace Under Pressure Tour Say can someone send to a site where I can find out the exact date and playlist of that show? That would be great. Peace Nov 3, 1984. 19. Last show of the first leg of TFE. 12/15/96.
  20. When I wound up with an extra ticket last year, I first offered it here at cost. I'd have much rather given it to a fan at cost. Just sayin'.
  21. QUOTE (kbomb106 @ Nov 28 2010, 12:28 AM) Good thought, but doubtful. It's cheaper to film outside the US. In fact, which was filmed IN the US (besides the "unofficial bootlegs" from S&A)? Memory serving, ESL was in Quebec, GUP was in Toronto, ASoH was in in England, DS would have been in Ontario again, RiR was in Brazil, R30 was in Frankfurt, and S&AL was in Rotterdam. Shit....the more I think about it, the less likely it seems. I stand corrected.
  22. QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Nov 29 2010, 01:04 PM)I *kinda* feel the same. I literally have no dinero for this leg; but if they did end up coming to upstate NY or somewhere near family in New England; I'd scrounge it up somehow.. If they're strictly playing only venues they didn't hit last leg, they could hit Manchester, Mansfield, or Hartford...just to name a few off the top of my head. Of course, I'd love it if they played closer to here. Granted, these venues are a bit smaller than they play, but since this isn't an area of great Rush fandom, I'd wager it would be me and some other TRF New Englanders. Some possibilities (unlikely though they may be, I'd LOVE to see them in all of them): Latchis Theatre, Brattleboro, VT Colonial Theatre, Keene, NH Calvin Theater, Northampton, MA (They've actually had some big names play here, so you never know) Or for an outdoor venue, Pines Theater, Northampton, MA I know...the chances of them playing anywhere actually close to me are slim to none, but I can dream.
  23. QUOTE (The Main Monkey Business @ Nov 29 2010, 12:19 PM) Is this the first time Rush has played MSG? I wreckon that will be an awesome gig Nope. I saw them there in '02, and as I recall, several people here saw them there at some point during S&A.
  24. Uh....Hershey, NJ? I think their webmaster needs to check a map. I'm bummed they're not doing anything northeast of NYC.
