  1. Honestly, this is probably the best I’ve seen Baroness. And to preempt the question that I was gonna get asked: yes I was in the audience that night. Too bad the album is unlistenable cause the songs are pretty good if not a bit inconsistent.
  2. This is where I go “Cleveland are normies.” if they think Opeth the band perfect for moshing & elbowing.
  3. Wow. Where has Cleveland been this whole time Opeth changed musical directions?
  4. Also I’m gonna clarify that while I did have many conversations w/said person prior at shows (most notably during FlenzCup 2019), it was HE who friend requested me not the other way around.
  5. Honestly? Insurgentes is STILL my favorite out of all of them. TTB slowly grew on me and while these days I’ll be down to listen to it again, it’s just a bittersweet reminder of THAT phase in my life is far over and I’ve moved onto other and better (for the present day me) stuff. I will say this. Pariah now that I’ve had time to deep dive into the lyrics has become one of my favorite SW songs. To me, SW’s vocal lines is the me that goes “What’s the point anymore? I can’t bring myself to go on anymore.” and Ninet is the person (be it friend, family member, lover/ex-lover) or me that goes “No, you’re going to keep on living. There’s gonna be something or someone that’ll motivate you to live to see another day.”
  6. If I or yourself can be in the place my friend Thom is (stable day job but flexible enough to put out music and/or play a few shows on one’s own terms), that to me is success in the music industry/lifestyle/whatever you wanna call it.
  7. IDK, all this has got me thinking to stop being in denial and I really restrained myself from saying this, but now I have to be very honest. Being removed from here for a few years and coming back and staying for awhile post Peart’s death trying to justify being on still...there’s not much for me left here now is there? I’ve finished the grieving over Neil and I’ve pretty much returned to my normal MO. If the common ground was already narrowing when I left the first time, I think they’re even more narrower now IMO to the point where...while I can definitely understand and sympathize, I find it really hard to relate to anyone here.
  8. I can't really stand to listen to the GAYzette anymore and I rarely listen to DEG either after that concert. idk it just gives me bad memories at this point, you provided the same sort of reason when saying you didn't really listen to the insulated world really been appreciating coheed and sonata again lately, and listening to them is probably what's been making me think of high school a lot lately. doing some backward thinking, introspection and psychoanalysis. I say all that with caveat that of the aforementioned bands, Katatonia is probably the only band which has lasting impact on me. If I had to go w/a second, it’d be SW but then again, he hasn’t put out an album I felt was better than good in...half a decade now? Katatonia’s the only band from that era in my life that I’m actively following still. Opeth, SW, the Jap bands that ain’t Boris, ENDON, Envy, or the Japanoise stuff? The stuff I’m into now is the stuff that’s of most relevance. Honestly, I shouldn’t have included Aaron Turner’s body of work in the mix because HE kickstarted the modern era of my music taste and by associate, he’s the one responsible for straying me away from what I perceived to be “TRF demographic” and honestly that was a very good thing. Turner beat SW at his own game and that’s f***ing pathetic.
  9. Oh, also the GAYzetE. Yeah, I still like them in moderation. And ofc Rush but I didn’t need to say it now do I?
  10. Yeah, as far as bands I still like pre-TRF in the “post-TRF” era PM, it’s really just Katatonia, DEG, Aaron Turner and SW for me. I don’t count anything I got into post-2015 in the equation cause that was when I planned my 3 year sin the making escape plan.
  11. Yeah, I never use 9Vs. Always power supplies.
  12. Needless to say, I ain’t seeing Devy either.
  13. I ended up not going ahead w/seeing Opeth. That era ended long ago for me. Instead I’ll be at the workplace (even in days I’m not there to work) for a fest we do every February. My seeing my co-worker’s performing on Friday the day of the Opeth show.
  14. Didn’t Ackerstache pull off the next 3-4 shows though? Or was Cleveland the last one before they pulled the plug?
  15. I’m so used to my work grind/cycle of working some holidays, I didn’t even realize today was a federal holiday.
  16. Ugh where’s that “I can’t believe they’re doing Roundabout maaaaaaaaaaan!” video when I needed it for a laugh today?
  17. risk-taker lol ...aaaaaaaaaand that’s the first time NASCAR has been relevant in quite some time.
  18. I mean, can you do that hurting your voice though? Just saying. It’s actually hard to do for 30-40 minutes straight if you ask me.
  19. I have a Boss HM-2 and an RV-3 (the former due to Godflesh & the Swedish metal scene of the 90s and the latter due to the Jeff Caxide influence). I can go three ways: 1) Get a few pedals to get a pedal board chain going 2) Fulfill a goal by getting one of Toshiya’s signature basses (particularly the RD shaped one cause I love the RD body shape) 3) A little bit of 1 but mostly to get a noise rig going for a possible live performance I might jump on if it happens. get the impossible pedal next. Discontinued thank f**k.
  20. same The world around me the last 4 years sucked ass yet I’m in a better place mentally and emotionally 4 years later. How d’you explain that?

  22. That was a death metal show that’ll go down in history as the night Blood Incantation became modern death metal legends.
  23. I’d check Full of Hell over the aforementioned bands I listed first actually. I was already a fan before TRF sabbatical but even more, they’re the closest to a “favorite” active metal band I could possibly have. Not completely death metal, but more like harsh grinding death noise.
  24. IDK it’s been years since I was last full metal. If anything I’ve become less “full metal” and more experimental...interpret what “experimental” means as you see fit.
