  1. I think Neil’s physical pain was brought upon himself by all the endless motorcycle riding in between gigs for the last 20 years of touring. That takes a toll on the body believe it or not. It’s a double edged sword, it took a toll on his body, but if Neil wasn’t able to ride his bike between gigs then he probably wouldn’t have toured. He seemed to just use the Rush tours in recent years as an excuse to just explore roads in North America. Bottom line. He retired because IMO, he lost the fire for drumming. He had a new family and wants to be part of it. Nothing wrong with that and I can’t fault the guy. Who knows, maybe if it’s true that his daughter is taking up drumming that mate she’ll inspire him to get that fire back and maybe do something. But I doubt that’ll be touring .
  2. I don't think any of Rio was shot in HD.
  3. I actually was working in NY that day and got done early so I headed over there. I didn't have a ticket and I was going to try to get in anyway. I was hanging out in front and saw Geddy get out of a black SUV and go in through another door. Anyway, as the people were starting to file in I get a call from my job with an emergency to go to another job, so it blew my chance of getting in there. I had a feeling I would have gotten in. I think there was a woman there from Anthem Records that I was going to talk to and she probably would have let me in. All well, I'll just have to catch the recording of the interview. At least I got to see Geddy for a brief moment.
  4. Getting some info on Facebook right now from friends in the Rush community that Skip Gildersleeve passed away today. No further info as of right now...
  5. Rush was still very much in Led Zeppelin mode when they wrote those songs IMO. I bet Jimmy picked up on that. Not that Jimmy didn't do his fair share of ripping off others, LOL.
  6. There is one from Rockford Illinois on 11/15/75 when they were opening up for Kiss. So far that's the only one to ever surface. Hopefully there's at least another one somebody recorded when they were headlining somewhere. Who knows?
  7. It might be Nick R. next to Ray. That's my guess.
  8. Totally agree. I hold back from calling any one particular guitar sound, or any one particular piece of Rush music to be the best, or even my favorite, because those things vary, for me. But I do love Alex's tone on Hemispheres, and it seems to be unique to that album alone. I believe Alex used HiWatt amps on that album. I absolutely love the tone he got on that album. I would kill to have him go back to that setup on some new music.
  9. I posted this on my Facebook page, but I thought I would share it here- Back in 2008 I had the distinct pleasure of meeting one of the nicest, most genuine guys in rock and roll, Ronnie James Dio. I met him at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ when Black Sabbath were promoting their box set, The Rules Of Hell, which is the Ronnie James Dio years of Black Sabbath. Thanks to Scott Lynch (aka Scott Evil of WDHA 105.5 FM) I got to hang out in the back room of Vintage Vinyl with the members of Black Sabbath for a good half hour one on one. When I met Ronnie, I thanked him for taking the time out to meet his fans, and he sincerely turned to me and said " No thank you, without you, I would be nothing!" I was really taken aback by how nice and sincere that he was. I feel very fortunate to have met him face to face, an absolute icon in the metal world. We lost him 3 years ago today. We miss you Ronnie, but your music will always live on. Metal horns up! http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc1/2326_1097233704826_64_n.jpg
  10. It seems like the digests only go up to '93 on the archives. I know they went on for much longer than that. I remember starting to post on there when Alex's Victor project was coming out. I remember saving alot of them on floppy discs. LOL
  11. I remember the NMS digest. I used to subscribe to it all the time. I learned a lot of great Rush info from it. Cant believe how long ago that was already!
  12. Me and a buddy of mine were actually thinking of going tonight, but I decided not to go because my wife and I are gonna goto the Atlantic City show on saturday. We would have def. taken you up on your generous offer.
  13. Anyone have 2 tix for a decent price for this show? My wife and I wanna attend but I don't wanna pay a fortune for the tix. I've been out of work since September unfortunately.
  14. If I'm not mistaken, I believe he uses a delay were you can hit a button and have it loop repeatedly. I have an old digitech digital delay box from the 80's (it actually has a full 8 second delay) where it has 2 foot buttons and when you hit the second switch you can infinitely repeat the last note you hit. I've used it before whenever I played that solo from Limelight and it works perfectly.
  15. Man, I gotta tell you, you ask for a more perfect Rush show than that. Congrats to you!
