  2. So everyone complains about the production of Presto, RTB and VT, and when one of those three is going to be remastered, it's still not good enough?
  3. It's been pretty easy voting for me as long as The Camera Eye is around.
  4. Because people have their head up their arse when it comes to the synth era. Geddy's bass playing was arguably at it's peak during that time, but people are so busy moping over the fact that there's an additional instrument that they never bother to notice.

QUOTE (metaldad @ Jun 20 2011, 02:36 PM) Good for her ?..... Who the F is she ? What is your problem? If you don't know who she is then there are two logical responses: a) Don't post in a thread that is ABOUT her or b) Take three seconds to look up who she is. Your sarcastic, bitter reply could ONLY serve to upset someone.
  6. Jeez, you just cut their output by half (maybe not literally, but sheesh!). You think RTB would have been better as a 7 song album? TFE a 5 song album? It's not even a case of the songs made the album a little too long, you just flat out dropped the songs you didn't like (or thought were horribly placed)! And out of all of that, the two albums that are most deserving of being cut down significantly (VT and S&A) you only drop one song from each
  7. I am ecstatic to be posting in a thread where Power Windows is getting the love it deserves.
  8. QUOTE (An Enemy Without @ Jun 14 2011, 09:59 PM) So far, the voting is going EXACTLY how I expected. Most of the votes are among the bottom half of the list; the newer songs. It seems "old Rush good, new Rush bad" is still the philosophy most of us share. If by "old" Rush, you mean everything before Moving Pictures, then that seems to be the forum consensus when it comes to these sort of polls/questions. I would be amazed if LVS or Xanadu doesn't win (even though I'll be voting against them 'till Kingdom Come).
  9. The f***ing Camera Eye.

QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Jun 10 2011, 01:03 PM) the tune is rockin but I cant help but get douche chills when Geddy sings "for you and me, sex is not a competition". plus isn't "you and me" bad grammar? Well in all fairness, he does use "you and I" in the verses. I suppose the "you and me" represents the casual talk between a couple--for the most part people don't follow grammatical rules like that in everyday conversation, so maybe the lyrics represent that? Funnily enough, I think the "sex is not a competition" line is one of the finer lines in the song. At first I took it to mean "intercourse" and thought it was Neil trying to be dirty. Then I realized it meant "gender" and the line took on a whole new meaning... ...the "we'd elect each other president" line is pretty bad though, I can't salvage a deeper meaning out of that
  11. Let's not sugarcoat things, there were plenty of moments throughout the show where Geddy was a tad cringe-inducing vocally. The "each of us" part in Freewill and the "first you need..." part in Marathon come to mind immediately. Maybe it's the fact that Geddy's voice seems to be higher in the mix than anything else, but it still makes me wonder if there's anything he can do to not have to strain and hit the falsetto so much.
  12. I don't even really regard it as a Rush album. On one hand I'm thankful that they didn't try to intersperse the songs into an album of original material. On the other hand there's really no reason for them to have even done the album in the first place--covers albums really scream a lack of creativity to me. None of the songs on the EP grab me and I don't think I'd ever outright listen to the album in it's entirety.
  13. The only songs off the album I really don't like are Heresy and You Bet Your Life. The rest range from good to great in my opinion.
  14. You certainly must have the record for most Rush references in a single username Re-welcome!
  15. QUOTE (laughedatbytime @ Jun 5 2011, 04:10 PM) How many times do I have to vote for Animate???? Hopefully many more rounds to come I'm surprised LTTA went out (not that I mind)! My vote went tooooooooo Bastiiiiiiiille Day.
  16. Are you sure about that "c-c--" word?

    Easiest Rush Song

Really most anything from RTB-onward is a safe bet (though of course there are many exceptions).
  18. QUOTE (Tommy Sawyer @ Jun 2 2011, 02:09 PM) Kind of unrecognizable. Good job for trying! It's completely recognizable! If I didn't know what it was going into it, I would know immediately what it was by the first notes. I think for a high(?) school orchestra taking on an obscure Rush song from 30 years ago and doing it that well is a pretty amazing (and awesome) feat.
  19. Clearly he's in a huge rush to get Clockwork Angels finished...
  20. Hey now Literatii, any Rush stuff you plan to throw out, you can just send my way. QUOTE (Snow-Dog2112 @ May 29 2011, 12:31 PM)Is Victor a cd or a vinyl? I have victor and my favorite headache on cd, and every vinyl from Rush to A Show of Hand The "Victor" that you see in that vinyl is not "Victor" as in the Alex Lifeson solo project. If you'll inspect the picture a little more closely, you'll notice it's the Buddy Rich album "Stick It." The Victor just refers to "RCA Victor," a vinyl producing company at the time (who evidently loved their name so much they made it take up 50% of the the vinyl).
  21. Impressive playing, but there was so much muting and percussiveness that if not for his occasional "singing" and a few key licks, the song would be barely recognizable. I'll give him credit for his obvious talent and skills, but his style doesn't really work as far as suiting the song goes.
  22. We do have a forum for discussion of boots (Different Stages). Here is the link to a collection of Permanent Waves shows, I can't guarantee that they're full, as I haven't listened to them myself, but they may be worth a shot (if you haven't already listened to them). http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...dpost&p=2042806

    Cut to the Chase

While it's a great song, it's admittedly in the mid-to-lower tier of my favorites off Counterparts. It's certainly not good enough that it should have replaced Stick it Out on the setlist (as it was suggested).
