  4. If Rush asked YOU to create 2 sets of music for them to perform, what would you choose. ANY song they ever recorded are fair game and the order doesn't matter. 12 songs each set, but if you pick a lengthy epic song, that is worth 2 regular length songs. Be creative and have fun!!!!
  5. I got 3 tickets in lower lever row R on Geddy's side.
  6. QUOTE (Sir Lerxst @ Jan 3 2012, 10:36 PM) RUSH-2112, keyboardist from the cover band Distant Signals is someone who springs to mind who may be able to help you. He used to post in Making Modern Music quite frequently, and from the synth work I have heard of his I can say it all sounds fairly accurate. Thanks for thinking of me and for the kind words
  7. I would be interested to hear your ideas for The Big Money. What kind of samples did you get?
  8. I am a keyboard player for a Rush tribute. See a list of my keyboards at the bottom of my signature. Because most are all "80's" keyboards, for the most part (except for the Korg R3, but that has some great sounds that came standard), they all work well trying to recreate those sounds. Some sounds I could never even come close to recreating, so yes I have to "cheat" just like Rush does. So for example on The Camera Eye, I use a sampler to trigger some of the keyboard parts that I edited as a WAV file. Other things I have sampled are more just "sounds" that I want to recreate like the "car squeal" in Red Barchetta.... a "crowd cheering" for The Spirit of Radio..... the intro for dreamline... the intro for distant early warning..... the intro for caravan....... 8 seperate WAV files to trigger the "sqaulk talk" for countdown....... intro for 2112........ intro for new world man But for the rest of the songs like Subdivisions, Tom Sawyer, The Analog Kid, etc... they are all played using one of my 7 keyboards. I suppose it is possible to configure the new keyboards of today to mak the sounds, but these older keyboards do a much better job. Hope this helps
  9. Thanks for the responses. It helped

  11. QUOTE (gudbuytjane @ Jan 12 2012, 12:01 AM) What songs does your band know? Give a list, this could be fun. I believe good sets are like good plays or movies, they have acts, changes in mood and tone, etc. You can also check out Rush's own setlists from over the years: http://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/rush/setlists.php -Jane Ok, here is what we'll have ready for Feb. 4th Possibly even Jacobs Ladder The Big Money The Spirit Of Radio Fly By Night/In The Mood Medley The Analog Kid Afterimage Between The Wheels Countdown Ghost Of A Chance 2112 Overture/ Temples/ Finale Medley Subdivisions Working Man Dreamline New World Man Caravan Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta YYZ Limelight The Camera Eye Witch Hunt Vital Signs Entre Nous Distant Early Warning Freewill Closer To The Heart

  13. Thanks for your input. We have a good mix of classic hits and B-sides for sure. We wanna tend to overload the first 1/2 of a gig with all the hits (for those casual fans) becuase they far out weigh the superfans. Plus after a break the crowd typically thins out and only the superfans will remain.
  14. It always seems difficult choosing an opening song, plus getting the right songs to flow together in set-lists, for my Rush band Anyone have any suggestions for a show coming up on Feb 4th?
  15. As initially stated, its 4 guys the never met, and did an online collaboration project. I don't know any of those dudes eh
  16. Thanks for the reply. You might be the only reply
  17. For your listening pleasure, please enjoy this Halloween treat. This was an online collaboration from 4 total strangers playing individual parts to a master track, then it was mixed down to this final product. Special guest on vocals is Geddy Lee himself (actually, we chopped his vocals out for this song and had them merged with our music. Geddy didn't come in at some of the right places in the first verse, so we fired him LOL). Anyway, hope you enjoy our spooky rendition of Witch Hunt, with Geddy Lee on Vocals. btw, I am playing the keyboards and cowbell in this song. Enjoy!! http://www.trfmusicians.com/components/com..._with_Ged_1.mp3
