Voted the 2nd (middle) option. The song's sound is definitely characteristic of the Rush era.

Havent listened to that song (or album for that matter) in literally years. But from what I recall it was definitely one of the best songs from S+A.

Wrong. Period, wrong. Read the official statement that came out yesterday. Ged and Al have been scrambling all week to back track the news that was apparently taken out of context. According to the statement yesterday, there will be another new album coming soon. We'll agree to disagree.

There will never be a replacement, period. It was an incredible run and they performed a fulfilling final tour for the fans. Looking forward to another Geddy solo album/hopefully tour, as well as Alex and Geddy producing new bands moving forward. All good.

The Great Unknown is really growing on me...may be the dark horse of this album. -

They're bigger internationally than the US, no question. So not too much of a surprise we're getting the short end of the stick in the states this time around. Don't see that changing anytime soon. Back to the album - Still think its excellent, but may take back my "best since 7th son" assessment. Not sure its better than Matter of Life and Death, which Ive always held as the high water mark of the reunion era. As for Empire of the Clouds, while its certainly different and at times interesting, its nowhere close to a masterpiece IMO, its pretty good. -
When it first came out I really liked it, partly because the band stuck with the heavy guitar-driven sound, and the production was great. In hindsight, it has a few standouts: Title track is excellent, Half the world is good as is Driven, and I even like Color of Right. But overall its average at best. What *wasnt* average was the tour -- 2112 in its entirety, natural science back in the setlist....excellent show.

Welll......potentially...but I still can listen to Counterparts, Snake & Arrows, and Clockwork Angels with little to no coercion.... It's just that PoW through RtB, then T4E and VT that seem to need some reason more than my once every year "I'm just listening top to bottom, so I have to listen to them" ritual... Of the 3 you mention, the only one Ill listen full through is CP, which is definitely a good album. Though as time has passed, I'm thinking that the production of that album is its best quality, along with about 5 truly exceptional songs, and one I consider one of their all time best (Animate).

While its not my favorite Zep album, Presence is very underrated and definitely in my top 4 Zep albums. Ranks: PG IV HOTH PRESENCE

Its seems highly overrated on this board, and in general. Some good songs, some really bad ones. Mediocre at best, IMHO. Personally consider GUP to be the last great album overall.

Agree completely. -
Isn't even a "handful of shows" still "touring"? If not, then what number of shows constitutes "touring"? I think the handful would be more of an engagement. Id characterize touring what we just got with R40.
-
No more touring. Maybe record an album, and possibly a tiny handful of shows to play it live. Thats it.
